Real - you should get real!

If it looks like a DUCK, talks like a DUCK, walks like a DUCK ….it IS A DUCK!!!

:ehh: :doh2: :doh2: :yyeess:
So if you hurl insults like a (fill in your own thing), accuse falsely like a (fill in your own thing), then you must be a (fill in your own thing)?

Are you so decieved that you believe Catholicism is not a denomination?
Um, the Catholic Church is not a denomination; it’s pre-denominational. Catholics don’t have denominations, only Protestants do.
But then refuse it Saturday night.
What do you mean by this phrase?
Only God’s word, but you don’t believe it anyway.
But God’s Word is what led me to the Catholic Church… why are you so sure that your private interpretation, when private interpretation is condemned in the Bible? And of course I believe in God’s Word.
You are seeking the tradtions of men, and foresacking the council of God.
Look. In Protestantism, it’s “every man for himself” when it comes to Bible interpretation. But I rely on the unchanging doctrine of the Church, straight from the apostles, whose successors are fulfilling Christ’s words and spreading the unchanging Gospel of God throughout all the nations of the world.
God’s word paints a different picture in Revelation 17 and 18
What do they have to do with anything? (By the way, the worship in Heaven, as described in Revelation, looks awefully Catholic: Incense, altar, golden candlestands, “Holy, Holy,Holy,” (said at every Mass) etc., Catholics take “on earth as it is in Heaven” very literally when it comes to worshipping Almighty God. 👍 )
Thank you for your advice.
You’re welcome. May God bless you on your spiritual journey. :crossrc:

This is not catholic teaching. They do not make mistakes because God is working through the Holy Spirit in all decisions made by the Catholic church. The church is incapable of making mistakes in all papal matters. Do you question the churche’s view on this topic?
No, I disagree with your erroneous understanding of what the Church teaches. People do make mistakes, including popes, and the charism of infallibility does not mean impeccability. You have been wrongly taught about the Catholic Church. If you are here to have your misconceptions corrected, then I commend you.
False. These books were added in the 1600’s, I believe. They were not “voted in” in the original cannonized books of the bible.
No,Hank, what you have been taught is false. The Septuagint was affirmed by the Church when the NT canon was closed in the fourth century. There were no bibles published without these books until Luther removed them 500 years ago.

*Jesus said: “You will know them by their FRUIT.”

Oh, you’re talking about certainty, are you? Well, that’s why I recently converted to the Catholic Church, because I realized that Protestantism is a splintering mess of people’s and preachers’ opinions on what they* privately interpret *the Bible to say, and that God is not the author of chaos (Protestantism) and the Scriptures condemn division and schism from the one True Church.

Protestantism is nothing but a giant cauldron of daily-splintering sects and self-styled preachers, and that’s why I left it.

But the Catholic Church was founded by Christ, who said to Peter (the first universal bishop, or “Pope”) to feed the sheep as a shepherd, and He promised that “the gates of hell would not prevail” against the Catholic Church, and St. Paul calls the Church “the pillar and foundation of the Truth”.

So, I trust the holy Catholic Church built on solid rock, but I could never go back to Protestantism, which is a bunch of divided houses built on sinking sand.

Hi Matariel, 👋

Thanks for your testamony, Even some Cradle Catholics on here don’t understand about the cancerous growth that started to devower the body of Christ 500 years ago. If it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit and the church’s ability not to fall for the lies and deception that the “separated brethren” had from Satan the church as a body might have collapsed, which might have brought about the second coming. Knowledgable people realize the Protestant reformation was an attack against Jesus’ church. Now who would want to attack and destroy Jesus’ church? The lie is that things are getting better now, they separated brethren" are at 61,000 denominations and growing at a rate of two more a week.

And they worry about our souls! **

Yes, very worried.

Yes, very worried.
**Pray why, my foolish child? Who dies and made you God? Remember that before 1517AD, there was One Christian Church “ONE” with several different “sects”. (They are still firmly together even today! ). While some were attempting to right some wrong practices in the Church, the devil saw this as a change to infect the christian church and steal souls from the real church . You have a soul stolen from Jesus. Do you need proof? You hate to read but your soul depends on your reading John 6: and trusting that Jesus wouldn’t lie to you!

God Bless **

Yes, very worried.
😦

That was a little over the top, Realcatholicgk. We shouldn’t laugh at them-- I’m sure most of them are sincere, although they seem to be unknowledgable about Catholic doctrine.
I apologize, HankZ. 😦

Anyway, did you see my last post?

And, Realcatholicgk, although I mostly agree with you, that the Protestant Revolt was basically a stint with early theological humanism and liberalism, you should not insult Protestants like that. That only hardens people against the Church’s holy message.

I am worried because you seem to have fallen for Satans lies and are headed to hell. I fear for you, especially since you are more than happy to follow him and believe that you are ok. It troubles me deeply. I do read scripture and that is where I find the only truths available. You it is are to afraid of reading God’s word and hearing what He has to say. If this were not true, you would be fleeing the Catholic Church. Why do you think John was amazed in Revelation? It was because he saw what the followers of Christ had started as the church had become. Do not be decieved any longer, beg God for forgiveness that you may escape the fires of hell, before you run out of time.

People actually whorship the pope. I know you will argue this, but they fall at his feet, kiss his hand, and kneel down before him. They hang pictures of him in their homes and many people pray to him too. The church sold pictures of Jesus that they said would bring prosparity to the buyer of such pictures. There are many such teachings like this done by the pope in his infallable voice.
Signs of reverence and affection do not equate to worship, which is for God alone. The sale of any item has nothing to do with any infallible teaching of the pope. However, I would like to see some evidence from you about this accusation. Please show me a teaching from the pope, in his “infallible voice” (which I think you don’t understand at all) that buying any pictures will bring someone prosperity. I think you just made that up!
It’s different because I would not attend a false church as you have discribed.
Again I will refer you to the forum rules, which you may not have read, or are choosing to disregard. If you want to stay here, then you will need to follow them.
Alcohol is a sin to those who are weak in the flesh. Any one who drinks in front of an alcoholic, is sinning by causing that brother to fall. So if you are having a drink in private and see nothing wrong, it is one thing, but I preach on the square on Fridays to the drunks of our town. Can you guess how many of the people we talk to are catholics who say they are saved through the church even though they can’t even walk straight from the gross amount of alcohol they have consumed.
No. How many? If they say it is not a sin to be drunk, then they don’t understand what the Catholic church teaches any more than you do!
They have no intention of attending church on any sort of regular basis, but they are told they can work out their salvation, so that’s what they think they are doing.
It is a sad fact that there are many poorly catechized Catholics who are living in sin, and justify it to themselves.
As long as they don’t kill anyone, they are fine. This is the real version of catholics.
No, Hank, this is a real perversion of Catholicism!
Most of them attend church on Christmas and Easter yet defend their faith as true and they are on their way to hell with a warm fuzzy feeling in their heart that catholics are the true church.
Actually, I doubt that such Catholics, being that ignorant about their faith, would be able to defend it at all.
I have sat in peoples homes who near death look up to the picture of the pope hanging on the wall, begging him for forgiveness.
It seems prudent, especially when on one’s death bed, to seek forgiveness from anyone whom one may have sinned against, don’t you think?
My church had a huge event on porn Sunday. It had such a large turn out. Porn stars were invited to be part of a panel to discuss this topic. The news paper made a large deal of it.
Really?! :bigyikes:

Did you hand out free magazines, movies, and sex toys? :bigyikes:
The catholic chrches I have attended have used alchol in every of the events they held for raising money. Gambling is another addiction that the catholic church thrives on.
Gracious mercy. I suppose that there may be some gambling addicts at the bingo. Somehow I hardly think they are making the church “Thrive”. I love the line out of Mrs. Doubtfire where she says “it is my turn to pull the balls at the rectory”, referring to managing the bingo. 😃
These are both spoken of as sin in the church I attend.
This is very Catholic of you! The Catholic Church teaches that one should not be enslaved to anything, therefore, addiction to gambling, alchohol, sex, or what have you are all considered falling short.
Bible preaching churches are not part of a massive church as is the catholic church.
This is too bad. Since there is only one Church, I prefer to believe that all who are members of Christ’s one Body are member of it. I don’t know if it is “massive”…but it is One.
For you to compare all bible teaching churches as one in the same is actually very far from truth. You do realize that, don’t you?
Yes. I think there are really no two alike. Separation and division seem to be the fruit of the Reformation.

Are you so decieved that you believe Catholicism is not a denomination?

In the end times it will be like the days of Noah. They didn’t believe until the water reached their necks.

😦

That was a little over the top, Realcatholicgk.

** Not my intent at all. I am called a Power Catholic. Everything I say is said with love and respect for the person. Jesus berated the devil remember? Us Power Catholics are a loose knit group who live by one motto:**

[SIGN] Powerful Catholic’s Motto:
Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says… ‘Oh hell…he’s awake!!’ [/SIGN]

We shouldn’t laugh at them-- I’m sure most of them are sincere, although they seem to be unknowledgable about Catholic doctrine. I apologize, HankZ.

** Actually I am positive that ALL of them are sincere! I believe they are good people who actually believe they are following the teachings of Jesus and the word of God. I also know that they are deadly wrong and their eternal souls are at stake. In christian Love I must attempt to save them from eternal damnation. I would never apologize for speaking the truth! But I will apologize if the real word of God offends anyone! **

Anyway, did you see my last post?

And, Realcatholicgk, although I mostly agree with you, that the Protestant Revolt was basically a stint with early theological humanism and liberalism, you should not insult Protestants like that. That only hardens people against the Church’s holy message.

** And, Matariel, Do you realize that English is the only language where two positives when spoken together make a negative?

My answer to your above statement is Yea,Right! They insult God with their foolishness! have you read hankz’s insults towards our faith? If Hankz heart was any harder it couldn’t beat old buddy!
Everything I say, every word was said in love and with respect for the person just not his false, counterfeit, corrupted, twisted demented, denomination or doctrine. And I say that with all christian love and respect!

God Bless **

This is where I may be able to help you. OSAS is not a no holds bar in that you are free to do whatever when ever. I understand that people have been mislead by this idea. Once a person, like myself, is saved, they do not want to sin any longer. not that the pleasures of this life are not tempting, and I’m certainly not free from sinning, but forgiven regardless. I would have unbelievable guilt if I were to participate in something as disgusting as sex with a prostitute. This would be a sin against God who has given me the very breath in my lounges yet I would not loose my salvation.
“the very breath”… 😃
This is the difference between OSAS and works type salvation. As a catholic, I was taught that unless your good deeds added up to higher than your bad deeds, you would have to find extra favor with the saints and with Mary to pray for your soul and even then, you would have to be purged of sins in the purgatory realm.
I am sorry that you did not understand correctly the Teaching of the Church, or were poorly catechized. Indeed, your righteousness does have to exceed even the most meticulous religious person.

Matt 5:20
20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

But He was talking about the righteousness that comes by grace, through faith, not of works, lest any should boast. It seems that your understanding of purgatory is also erroneous, however, it never hurts to have the prayers of the saints! 👍
I can sin, but I cannot loose my salvation. This is the peace that Christ has given His followers. We can attain peace in this life. Once you truely knoww Jesus, you step out of the fallen world and into the Kingdom of God.
HankZ
I think it would be more accurate to say that you will not attain salvation, since you are not signed, sealed and delivered until the last day.
Nope. You were never taught that in a catholic church. So either, you weren’t paying attention, you were not in the catholic church, or youre just making the whole thing up claiming to be an ex catholic to lend some credence to your claims.
Granted, he should not have been, but there has been a gross and flagrant poor catechesis in the last 40 years, and a whole generation of misinformed Catholics who were taught outright lies in catechism classes. I know, I was one of them! I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt that someone misled him.

I am worried because you seem to have fallen for Satans lies and are headed to hell.

**No,I am a Ctholic! Sorry! The Blessed Mother is going to ask her son to save me!

I fear for you, especially since you are more than happy to follow him and believe that you are ok. It troubles me deeply. I do read scripture and that is where I find the only truths available.
**Let me tell you a little about your bible: There are 8,674 different Hebrew words, 5,624 different Greek words, and 12,143 different English words in the KJV.
There are 1,260 promises given; 6,468 Commands; over 8000 predictions; 3268 Fulfilled prophecy verses; 3,140 Unfulfilled prophecy verses and 3,294 questions. I think I know your bible pretty well. Do you know the 4,000 changes made from the catholic bible that corrupted the Bible? If you did, you would be feeeing towards the real church! ****

You it is are to afraid of reading God’s word and hearing what He has to say. If this were not true, you would be fleeing the Catholic Church.

**I never grip about the Catholic Church, if it was perfect, I probably couldn’t belong. Jesus made his church for us sinners. Flee where into the arms of satan? No thanks! I believe there is a ‘special’ place for false prophets. **

Why do you think John was amazed in Revelation? It was because he saw what the followers of Christ had started as the church had become.

**What the heck are you talking about? You have no idea what john meant! Only the Catholic church has the authority and knowledge to correctly interpret the bible and besides Revelations should never be in the hands of the ignorant. Now you put it down! Pick up John verse 6: and start to learn! It is not to late. Do not be deceived any longer, ask God for forgiveness. He is mercyful and remember Jesus died on the cross for your redemption! I realize that folks like you want to serve God, but only as advisors.Let God be God! You are in my prayers! **

Do not be decieved any longer, beg God for forgiveness that you may escape the fires of hell, before you run out of time.

Thanks for the warning! Rememberr, God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?
