Trying to shoehorn Leftist slogans into the Catholic doctrine and practice eats away at the value of the Church from the inside…
When segments of the Catholic hierarchy pass on the Faith in a form that is not quite right, or never really mention the inconvenient non-political side of the Faith, they are departing from the fullness and depth of Christ, from the presence among us that He promised until the end of the world…
in some general sense, the people in the pews know whether Father or Bishop is a leftist. They either go along with politicized religion that ends up as some kind of liberal Protestantism or they move …
The New Left does this to all of the institutions onto which it latches. It hollows them out and devours them.
Yes, I think so too. Thanks for posting.

Many people from my place of Sydney have walked away from the Left because it doesn’t represent them anymore. Unfortunately before this happens they have already walked away from the church and they don’t come back. The Left (or new Left as the article says) has not been good for the church and yet many people have been encouraged to define their morals in political terms first and then try to fit them to Christ. Hence the exodus from the church as a unnecessary community without benefit.

I think the church really needs to have the foresight and courage to stand up and have a real go at the (new) Left. The church is being hollowed out.

Catholicism, on the other hand, is not about power, but simply about the truth.
The new Left thinks it has the truth which, supposedly, was ignored by the Church over the past few centuries. But it’s a one-sided viewpoint. That’s always the problem with party-politics. Jesus is the Truth and His teaching and Life transcends the narrow vision of temporal politics.
When segments of the Catholic hierarchy pass on the Faith in a form that is not quite right, or never really mention the inconvenient non-political side of the Faith, they are departing from the fullness and depth of Christ, from the presence among us that He promised until the end of the world.
The temptation and desire to please people can be very strong. The temptation to avoid difficult truths that Jesus actually taught is strong also.
We have to fight against that. We also have to fight against bad teaching.

God has promised that the Church will always preserve His Truth and always be the one True Faith. We have the Magisterium of the Church, and we have a conscience which is formed and strengthened by the Sacraments. So, we can discern the Truth, even when we might encounter Catholic teachers who do not pass on the fullness of the Faith the way they are required to do.
