Sorry Theprodigalson84j, I am not a Protestant. I am a cradle Catholic. Educated all years in Catholic education.

I have a great understanding of why the Church teaches what it does. Like most Catholics, I don’t agree with all the teachings; in some cases the Words of Christ are actually in conflict with the teachings of the Church, or Christ did not specifically address the issues. I know priests who don’t even agree with all the teachings. For example I think the Church has an unhealthy position on human sexuality. Which when you think about it, many of the Church’s teaching on sexuality were developed by men who are celibate which is laughable when you think about it.

Glad you love confession. I don’t and many today don’t, hence why hardly anyone goes today.

What I want is for the Church to adapt to reality. Start supporting the middle-class. Start providing affordable Catholic education. Provide religious (priests, nuns, etc.) to address the spiritual needs of people. You cannot meet the needs of the people in the 21st Century with methods developed centuries ago. The Church can adapt without giving up the true basic tenets of faith.

Third the money many diocese had was stripped away to pay for abuse settlements.
No kidding. 660 milllion dollars in one diocese alone is a whole lot of money to waste and that could have been spent for so many other worthy causes.

Exactly!! That is what many believe is the cause of many of the problems in the church today. We cannot shape god and his church into what we want in the moment. We need to shape our lives, values and morals to fit that of the one the constant beacon, god and his church.
Great post!

God does not need sexual relations because he is God and has no need to reproduce.

What is unhealthy? Masturbation is a sin. Sex can only be used for reproduction or if there is a chance of reproduction. Artificial birth control (condom) is bad because it is artificial, but family planning methods are good because there is a chance of pregnancy (open to life). I was always taught by the nuns that the intent is the sin. So if the intent is to not get pregnant, there is no difference between “natural” and artificial means, intent is the same.

Medical science has determined that a man who either masturbates or has sexual relations once a week has a lower incidence of prostate cancer. The human body was not meant to be celibate.
