I don’t believe anything was implied as to whether you could participate in this discussion. You just seem to be using information that Christians use on the subject when you list yourself as atheist just makes one wonder where your precise knowledge comes from, especially on the Pope, since you seem so sure.
Just because Christians have historically generated solid, or interesting ideas, doesn’t mean they all share an equal contingency on a Christian God or worldview.

This is a logical fallacy.

Moreover, not a few Protestants agree with my assessment, so there.

To be a true Christian does mean those who share an equal contingency on God. The ones you are referring to would seem to be less than true as Christians if they depend on the worldview or anything else except the Word of God. They would be the ones that are living a fallacy. This would definitely be a game of the devil with them, lots of fertile ground here for the dark dominions.

This is a thread to test your powers of intellect and imagination. C.S. Lewis (The Screwtape Letters) and Peter Kreetft (The Snakebite Letters) would approve.

If you were one of the Devil’s lieutenants, how would you counsel him to ruin the human race and increase the population of hell?

Or, what strategies has the Devil already used with greatest success?

Any takers?
I would counsel the Devil that God is omniscient and that there is nothing that could be planned, discussed or even thought of, without God knowing about it.

I would also counsel Satan that Gods Holy book clearly states that Hell shall not prevail and that all things considered, all efforts to destroy the human race would be pointless and fruitless.

However, I’d also advise that he ( the Devil) is a part of Gods mysterious plan, so he is in fact doing Gods will…so keep up the good work.

First, the devil is subject to the Will of God. The devil must obtain approval from God before he can act. Getting past this, though, I can see this can be quite a creative endeavor as well as a fun exercise so I’ll give it a shot.

Since the Devil knows he can never triumph over the Church, he attacks everything around it. He attacks the individual members of the Church and certainly can triumph over the individual members.

#1: Attack the individual members of the Church: Try to tempt those highest up in the hierarchy in order to corrupt them as much as possible. Create as many scandals as possible within the hierarchy. Make them turncoats against their own faith. Without shepherds the flocks will scatter.

#2: Attack the secular governments. Everyone is subject to some sort of secular government. Everyone. Let’s try to get the governments to pass laws making it harder and harder for Catholics to survive peacefully.

#3: Attack the school systems within each country. Some governments are democratic. We have to educate those in the democracies to our favor so they will vote for our kinds of politicians in order to achieve #2. Almost everyone goes to public schools so if we can control the public schools, there’s a good chance we’ll succeed in corrupting many. Try to get private schools subject to government regulations. Make home schooling illegal (this one might have to come later; once we have decent control over governments then we will be able to outlaw home schooling)

#4: Attack the medias. News industries and entertainment industries. Pretty much everyone is influenced by these. News industries are a sort of school for adults. Try to sway the adults into voting for our kinds of politicians so we can achieve #2. The entertainment industry can serve to attack each individual in that humanism would constantly be emphasized, and temptations of the flesh would be constant. If we already control the medias, we should push for technological advances so this media will become more omnipresent.

(Attack the schools and attack the medias could probably be switched in the order.)

I appreciate how plainly you accept true Christian belief. Many Christians choose to ignore or refuse to believe what you’ve just written. 👍

I like your statement because I have experienced this very truth recently.

The rise of the ‘liberal’ metrapolitan elites. Victory there and game over.

Quite a few of my possible responses have already been mentioned, so I have to come up with something new.

I would advise Lucifer (the Lightbringer) to bring more light into our existence, and thus enable us to emulate heaven here on Earth. Also I would advise him to be good, loving, caring, to come to help in times of need - in other words, what one would expect from a “loving” God. This way he could actually earn our gratitude, not just expect it for no reason whatsoever - as God does.

And there would be another twist to that. Obviously, God would never do what Lucifer does, so God would be “forced” to become different. Since Lucifer would be just, good, loving and caring, God would have to pick up the “slack” and become hateful, cruel, mean and vengeful (like he used to be in the Old Testament), thus further decreasing the herd of his worshippers.

Finally, I would advise Lucifer to make hell a wonderful place, where we really could continue our life, without illness, pain, suffering. We would not have to sing that boring “hallelujah” day in and day out, we would not have to play the harp (we could just drink good Harp beer…) and generally have a grand old time.

Not that Lucifer needs any advice, since - according to the Christians - he already won. If you doubt it, recall the words: “narrow is the path which leads to heaven, while the road to hell is wide and straight”. Of course God’s PR people will state it differently. They will say: “While God was able to capture the prestigious second place, the Devil had to be content with the next to the last position!”.

R Daneel…interesting points. I too have wondered why the Devil simply doesn’t use his free will and renovate hell…turn it into a fantastic place of pure hedonistic bliss.

Again, using his free will, I’m not sure why the Devil doesn’t get his own youtube channel, cable channel, radio program and take out adds in newspapers and thus be better positioned to sell the merits of his kingdom to the masses.

What better way to recruit more souls than to make hell a desirable locale and get the word out through mediums of media?!

Your responses amount to more ludicrous fantasies!

Lucifer would completely ignore your advice because he is incapable of being good, loving, caring and helping others even to earn our gratitude. Do you think he’s bothered about how many people are in hell? No! He is far more concerned about his own power and getting what his own way. In fact he prefers to have as few rivals as possible and avoid potential threats to his supremacy… It 's better to have the devils you know!

Another absurd fantasy! The notion of God being forced to become hateful, cruel, mean and vengeful reveals complete lack of insight into the nature of good and evil. How could the Creator become negative and destructive? That is the role of the Destroyer, i.e. the Devil…

The final and the most illogical absurdity! It does not follow from the fact that the path is narrow that the majority will fail to follow that path. It is well known that wide, straight roads are more dangerous because callous, selfish drivers with a lust for speed put their own satisfaction and pleasure before the safety and welfare of others, often mowing down children as they strive to become world champions. Most decent people don’t take risks with the lives of others, keep out of their way and avoid them like the plague. That is why the devil and his disciples are isolated and miserable because their power and pleasure does not bring them love and happiness…

Make Church teaching* so difficult and unpleasant to follow**, that most Catholics will either be cafeteria Catholics or leave altogether. *

Can you give one good example of this? Thanks.

Obviously you don’t understand sarcasm, even when it hits you in the face. 🙂 And then you counter my fantasies with your own equally unsupported and ludicrous ones. :rotfl:

Because there is no “devil”… if there would be one, he would do exactly that. 🙂

R Daneel

Because there is no “devil”…

The Devil has succeeded in convincing you there is no Devil?

Are you also an atheist?

If so, your contributions to this thread are likely to be negligible.

Please don’t try to sabotage this thread by changing the subject. Thank you. 👍

Tactics for the Devil:
  1. Make people afraid of the vice that’s opposite to the one they actually practice.
Make the spendthrift vigilant against miserliness and put the miser on guard against wastefulness.
Warn the cruel man against “false compassion” and sentimentality, and the excessively softhearted against cruelty.
Make the lazy man worry lest he become a workaholic while the workaholic worries lest he become shiftless.
  2. Get people to believe that forgiveness is the same thing as justifying or condoning the act being forgiven.
  3. Convince people that obedience to God, or to any moral principle, is joyless, that all pleasures are sins, that the only choice is between a life of sinful pleasure and one of bleak and monotonous “virtue”.
  4. In general, convince people to think in terms of extremes. Make them disdain the middle ground.
Make them disdain anyone on the other side of any issue. Widen the gaps.
  5. Get them to put it off. Sure, you have to repent. Sure, you need to mend your life. --Tomorrow. Next week. Next month. Get them to delay and delay.
The longer they wait the harder it gets – and the harder it can be* made* to look.
  6. The ripsaw technique. Before they sin, tell them it’s not a big deal. Just a little lie, a little theft, a small sin.You can repent tomorrow.
After, hit them with extreme guilt. Look what you did! Nobody can forgive* that! *

R Daneel post, number 23, was just as good as any other person whose contributed to this thread. Further, I don’t think he’s trying to change the subject, rather he simply highlighted that the Devil doesn’t employ imaginative, new or creative tactics in trying to snare people into eternal condemnation, because the Devil doesn’t exist…hence his predictable attributes.

Your sarcasm rebounds on you because it illustrates how you yourself promote the amoral, meaningless, purposeless system which is used as a cloak for such diabolical atrocities as the Holocaust…

Quite the…leap.

Looks like we are fast moving toward a book full of aphorisms on the Devil’s dirty work.

Keep them coming! 👍
