I thought this thread was about Josh and family, and Not ever other situation. I leave it up to our Lord to judge all people and yes I do have an opinion on the "Actions: of myself and others. But not to the extreme of trashing them. I think we should show a little mercy to those who have repented and pray for all. God will deal with all of us at our proper time. No one can change the consequences of their sins but the victim can turn to Our Lord for healing and forgiveness, (which is a huge part of healing). Hatred and vengeance is NOT the answer for any victim. God Bless, Memaw

Sorry, I didn’t mean odd as in “strange”, but odd as in singular. I.e., just commenting on the singular comment. I didn’t think it strange.

This is about the Duggars, sassy pants. If we just accepted that a person has repented, then there would be all sorts of people walking about that shouldn’t be. Josh shouldn’t be around kids, just like any other sex abuser. I’m sure if everyone in prison thought that mere “repentance” would get them out, all prisoners would be jumping on that bandwagon.

I’m talking about TRUE repentance, which is what it appears Josh had felt since he has truly turned his life around and has a great relationship with his family. We should follow the example of Our Lord, when HE forgave, he said “Go and sin no more”. He didn’t say it’s OK for some to trash you for your past. Sassy pants??? Sticks and stones. Who is “trashing” Josh? Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting.

The problem is, you can’t say that Josh has truly repented, that he has turned his life around, that he has a great relationship with his family. Why? Because there is no proof of this. There is a police report which states that Josh molested more than one young girl - and I am not trashing Josh when I call him a molester. The fact that the Duggars had a TV show does not offer proof that everything is fine with Josh and his family. It suggests that his family are trying to brush things under the carpet by acting happy and cheerful all the time (which, as other posters have said, is unrealistic) and it also shows Jim Bob and Michelle to be hypocrites and irresponsible.

Again, I am not trying to “trash” anyone. Why are Jim Bob and Michelle hypocrites? Because they preach to others about sexual morality whilst knowing their son molested others - as others have said, Michelle has been shown on more than one occasion preaching this to her daughters.

Why are Jim Bob and Michelle irresponsible? Because they did not get Josh the proper help needed. They did not protect their daughters when they allowed him into the house, knowing Josh had molested four of them, and one other girl. It has not been indicated that the victims received any counselling for what they had been through.

I have said this once, and I will say so again: Forgiving someone for sinning does not mean you forget what they did. It does not mean they are allowed a green light and everything is ignored. Josh may have repented - it doesn’t change the fact that there are still five victims affected by his actions and that Michelle and Jim Bob tried to pretend nothing happened.

I’m not saying this to bash you or to call names, but you have absolutely no concept of what child sexual abuse is. Claiming that other people’s crimes have nothing to do with case proves that. Josh is a child molester. He molested five young girls, four of whom were his sisters. He behaved like every other serial, predatory abuser behaves. It’s not something that goes away because someone prays and repents. It doesn’t go away because of how many people like the show he’s on. Please don’t take my word for it, though. Read up on it on your own. Listen to what abuse victims on here have to say about it. Call a child sex abuse hotline and ask them about it. Anyone who has any clue what they’re talking about will tell you that not getting a child molester proper treatment is naive, dangerous and irresponsible, potentially to a criminal degree.

You also need to realize that this is much more about the victims (and potential victims) than it is about Josh or his parents. Again, though, don’t take my word for it. Seek the advice of people who deal with this professionally and see what they have to say about it. Keep an open mind about it and realize that when people call him a molester and criticize how this case was handled, they are showing far more concern and mercy than anyone who thinks Josh’s actions should be minimized and forgotten.

In the new interview from prison, Hutchens said he was told by Jim Bob and Josh that “Josh had inappropriately touched [redacted] during the time she was asleep. He said he touched her through her clothing and he said it only happened one time.”

“I have lost a lot of sleep over it. I am a Christian myself and I worry that something else may have happened. I would be responsible for it, in my opinion, by not reporting it. The young girl should have been my first priority.”

Considering Jim bob already got caught in a lie on the police report, this guy is no less credible than Jim bob. Jim bob is the one with the huge motive to lie.

This whole thing thoroughly disgusts me.

Yes, and I am fully prepared to go to my maker and stand in judgement in the same way he will judge a child molester.:rolleyes: Forgiveness is between him and the Lord, but meanwhile there are consequences for actions and part of those consequences are that if you are a public figure, people will judge the situation because YOU made it public by your actions!

Well, none of them have any credibility. And there’s no way to know if this guy is being truthful or not. I just think in THIS situation, he has less reason to lie than the duggars…and Jim bob already lied at least once to the police. Which tells me he has no issues lying to law enforcement

I just thought I would share this post (scroll down to the very last post on the page). It’s a collection of old quotes from 2007 from a poster who had inside information about this whole thing. Whoever this Alice chick is, she was right on the money about the molestation, which makes me think the rest of the information she gives has considerable credibility. Sounds like she was a fellow church member.

If she is telling the truth, it sounds like Josh continued to molest his sisters even AFTER publicly begging for forgiveness in front of the church and putting on the show of being such a good kid.
