Over 40,000 different protestant denominations and they don’t agree on Scripture. Most don’t even agree with their founder anymore. That oughta tell you something. The Marks of the Catholic Church are ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC, founded by Jesus Christ, always has been ( for 2015 years) and always will be till the end of time. God Bless, MemawNot really but ok.
Can we stop using the 40,000, 33,000 and all the other false numbers out there. You do know that included in the “40,000” are RCC, and all the Eastern Catholic churches. They are not counted as one but rather individually. Russian and Antiochian Orthodox are also counted seperately. It is a false numer and does nothing for the argument.Over 40,000 different protestant denominations and they don’t agree on Scripture. Most don’t even agree with their founder anymore. Watch Journey Home on EWTN on Monday night at 7 PM CST. The protestant ministers that have become Catholic say it is even higher than 40,000. and the quote protestant sources. That does not include the Catholic Church. There is only ONE Catholic Church, founded by Jesus Christ. Why do you think they list it as Catholic, Protestant and Jewish, as the major religions. Some Orthodox Churches are in schism but they still believe what the Catholic Church does and they have the same 7 Sacraments, valid priesthood etc. God Bless, MemawCan we stop using the 40,000, 33,000 and all the other false numbers out there. As far as the founder comment goes, I believe Catholicism as veered from what Jesus Christ taught. That is my humble opinion and I am sure you will disagree.
I’ve seen it.Watch Journey Home on EWTN on Monday night at 7 PM CST.
How about the selling of indulgences?“Some” would say many things that are not true. Who are they and where do they get their authority?? And what “non-bibical” practices are you talking about! God Bless, Memaw
I have watched it. Didn’t care for it when I was Catholic and do not like it now.Watch Journey Home on EWTN on Monday night at 7 PM CST. I have never heard anyone on Journey home, put down their former faith. And I have been watching it ever since it started over 15 years ago. They have always been thankful for what they learned but realized it was not the fullness of Truth. God Bless, MemawI have watched it. Didn’t care for it when I was Catholic and do not like it now.
Watch the 700 Club. Can I believe everything I hear from a person that has left the Catholic Church on the 700 Club?
This issue was discussed at length here this last year. No proof that Johann Tetzel ever said such a thing. How about the selling of indulgences?
Johann Tetzel (1465 – 11 August 1519), the Grand Commissioner for indulgences in Germany, was commissioned in 1502 by Giovanni Cardinal de 'Medici, later Pope Leo X, to preach the (Christian) Jubilee indulgence. He went around saying this famous little jingle:
“When the coin in the coffer rings, a soul from purgatory springs” (“Sobald der Pfennig im Kasten klingt, die Selle aus dem Fegfeuer springt”).
We don’t have copies of Tetzel’s sermons in the Magdeburg area which provoked Luther. But even if Tetzel didn’t actually coin this popular jingle for which evidence exists from at least 1482, the sentiments of the jingle exist in surviving copies of Tetzel’s surmons. This proves that he was teaching the selling of indulgences. This issue was discussed at length here this last year. No proof that Johann Tetzel ever said such a thing.
You stated that Tetzel went around saying this jingle. Where’s the proof? We don’t have copies of Tetzel’s sermons in the Magdeburg area which provoked Luther. It’s based on Tradition, the Protestant Deposit of FaithYou stated that Tetzel went around saying this jingle. Where’s the proof?
If you know that there’s no proof that Tetzel said that, and you stated it anyway, that’s an intentional lie that you’ve promoted. That’s a problem. It’s based on Tradition, the Protestant Deposit of Faith![]()
HmmmmmIf you know that there’s no proof that Tetzel said that, and you stated it anyway, that’s an intentional lie that you’ve promoted. That’s a problem.
It’s being said now about one thing.Hmmmmm
This could be said about a lot of things
Ok so where is the proof that Mary was sinless? Where is the proof that Mary was taken into heaven without tasting death??It’s being said now about one thing.
There’s no difference in telling a direct lie, and proving that the Blessed Virgin Mary was sinless or assumed into Heaven?Ok so where is the proof that Mary was sinless? Where is the proof that Mary was taken into heaven without tasting death??
So what I mean?
Luther reported it in his Ninety-five Theses and it was used in the early 16th century. But since I don’t have a tape-recording of Tetzel from the 16th century, I can’t prove he said the jingle in those exact words. Nevertheless, Tetzel did say the same thing in different word in copies of some of his surviving sermons. It’s also hardly a lie that I’ve promoted since it appears in virtually every modern history of Luther and of the Reformation. If you know that there’s no proof that Tetzel said that, and you stated it anyway, that’s an intentional lie that you’ve promoted. You asked for proof and I just asked you for proof. He said Tradition and Im sure you will state Tradition as well to answer my question. Correct? There’s no difference in telling a direct lie, and proving that the Blessed Virgin Mary was sinless?
It has nothing to do with Luther. You said that Tetzel went around saying that “jingle.” There’s no proof at all that he went around saying this “jingle.”Luther reported it in his Ninety-five Theses and it was used in the early 16th century. But since I don’t have a tape-recording of Tetzel from the 16th century, I can’t prove he said the jingle in those exact words.
