I have to admit that in general, your posts here have been much better than those on CARM, so thank you for that. :clapping: :clapping:
Are you serious? I can’t imagine the depths of the inanity to which they descend on CARM, then. Here they just seem to be non sequitur trolls, in large part. It seems that most any thread Atemi touches turns from “interesting” to the same, boring, refuted claims within a page to two.

In spite of all the anti-Catholic bashing that goes on in the CARM Discussion Forum,
because of unlearned and prejudiced Protestants of whatever or no denomination, at
least the moderators haven’t deleted my arguments against Protestant concepts
and for Catholic doctrines and dogmas.😉
I think they do not go so far as to delete entire posts because even that would be viewed negatively among their fellow catholic bashers.

That and it suffices to just delete catholic posts within the threads.

Especially when they are filled with the undeniable power of the Holy Spirit.

I think CARM and CA serve different purposes. If you want to discuss/debate various distinctions in Protestant doctrine then CARM is probably the better place to do so. If you wish to discuss/debate distinctions with respect to the Protestant/Catholic divide then CA is probably the more appropriate forum. I do believe that CA is less tolerant of uncharitable posts and more open to discussions of differing ideas than CARM, yet there are still rules that you can’t cross at both forums.

First of all, there are only 2 forums for the discussion of Roman Catholicism.

Maybe there shouldn’t be any! Afterall carm states that you cant be christian and believe the teachings of the Catholic church at the same time

Secondly, just about half the posters on both those forums are Catholic.

Not the day I saw at least 7 Catholics banned for nothing more than being Catholic

The other half of the posters, of course, hold the position that the RCC’s claims for herself are erroneous.

It goes way beyond that and you know it. Every kind of insult is slung against the Eucharist, sacraments, clergy and Blessed Mother. Not only is history denied but the most vile and ignorant afronts to the the very gates of heaven are made in the name of carm

I guess all those posters are “blatantly anti-Catholic.” That seems to be the popular, though highly misguided, charge.

I simply chage anyone here to go see for themselves and you sill swiftly see this isn’t a misguided charge at all.

Even the Catholic posters there, that have any experience, would disagree with you as they are still posting year after year.

Oh yea, see if you can get one to come here and do so then. I posted there too and I found myself struggling to forgive the harm done again and again. I seem to be hearing just the opposite and your the only one here defending the hate site of Matt Slickster. Why do you think that is Atemi? Better yet invite the Admin DianeS here to debate me in an invironment where she can’t ban me for attempting to have a civil dialogue. I am sure she would decline. Tell her I have gone by the same name I am using here and also Reparator on her site of Matt Slick lackies.

And they would be the last ones to say they are not “defending the faith”!

LOL.

You think defending Jesus Church is funny? I do have to admit I haven’t much hope for doing so among the scoffers on carm

Granted, we do have Catholic posters that have come and gone and been banned for breaking the rules.

There are two sets of rules there and you know it! There is one for bigots that are allowed to levy the most insensitive and cruel insults to verbally victimize Catholics and then theres the ones that ban a Catholic for explaining that we dont pray to someone but ask someone to pray for us and make it illegal to post a link to this or any Catholic apologetic web-site for example.

Other that those types, you can say whatever you want to defend Catholicism. That is what that type of forum is for. With Bias only.

Totally untrue. One cannot refer to another source other than carms own site if your a Catholic. I initiated a post I think I called “I had to see it for myself” in which DianeS promised me I could continue to voice my concern there and then a couple of adds later locked the thread.

“They” are other posters.

Again, if you think DianeS, Moderator1 or Moderator7 do not have personal accounts by other names that when they get backed into a debate corner or fail at their antagonizms do not fabricate some reason to ban the poster then your blind to the persecution going on there. I dare you to go there and debate from a Catholic standpoint or attempt to challenge the intollerance and I guarantee you no matter how tactful you are you will not last the day without being banned.

BTW, since saying that the RCC is not Christ’s church is to “blaspheme” her, you don’t have much of a point, IMO.

Once again you disregard the seriousness of the guile wielded by the vipers on that site. Seldom is the denial of the True Church ever that benign and you know it. You just can’t do the same here and I bet that is really tearing you up.

Maybe because you are not around people who are free to speak their minds.

I fought in the forces of this country for free speach for a decade. I have a sound understanding of liberty, do you? I am under no oppression here and I will fight it wherever I encounter it.

End the free exchange of ideas. That’s always the best for civil liberties…

If there was any free exchange or civil liberties there on carm I wouldn’t be speaking now. I guarantee you what I say now would get me banned and the posts deleted from carm. Is that what you call freedom? Its a common reaction for protesters to be violent and intollerant and carm is no different except that it hates in the name of its version of Christ. A closed mind has no concept of civil liberty, especially one blinded by its own sinfulness that it feels its perfectly justified by wollowing in because its been lead astray by false teachers like Matt Slickster.

Thank you for admitting that carm is intoleratant, uncharitable and that its not a place where one can discuss or debate Protestant doctrine.

I would add it is also a place where one will encounter extreme prejudice for trying to discuss Catholic doctrine.

Well, that’s not quite what I said if you will take a look. From my experience, CA is significantly more open to charitable and reasonable discussion, but I’ve had the same at CARM as well. The threads at CARM do tend to be more pointed in a way that would not be tolerated here. That’s one reasons why I spend much more time here than there, although not in the Traditional Catholic forum. You can get the same sort of nasty posting there, as a Protestant, that you get over at CARM as a Catholic, but the moderators here at CA do a good job in keeping things in line here.

Do I have any wagers on this one?
What would be easier to do, convert Matt Slick to Catholicism or baptize Osama Bin Laden? 😉

btw, here is source code that is still in their page refering back to when they thought there was only 3 essential, not 4 as they do now.
Essential Christian Doctrine, 3 essentials, three, Christian, Doctrine, Christian, Christianity, Christian Doctrine, Bible, God, Jesus
Peace
Interesting, but did that appear as you wanted it? I’d be interesting in seeing their old version of essentials, but I don’t understand the whole source code thing here…is there not a link?

Here is a link to the CARM web page.
carm.org/doctrine/essentials.htm

You will notice that in the top header of the web page, it includes the text “3 essentials”. This is a carry over from an earlier version of the ‘essentials’ web page. When they added the fourth essential, they neglected to fix the title of the page.

I do not have the old version, but would be interested in what it included (or not included).

The source code of a web page can be seen (for Microsoft Internet Explorer) by selecting from the top menu “View - Source”.

Peace

Thanks Mike–interesting.
So your “essentials of genuine Chrsitianity” not only exclude Catholics and Orthodox, but millions of fellow Protestants. BTW, your “once saved always saved” position is also not held by Lutherans (i.e. salvation can be lost through apostasy) and the Seventh Day Adventists.

God Bless,
Michael

Hi Mike,

It still doesnt mean it is not true;)

Hi,

I have to say that when I go over to Carm and have gone into the catholic forum there, I am appauled at how sarcastic the non-catholic christians are towards the catholics. Now, unfortunately because the NCC’s respond with sarcasm the catholics seem to bite back.😦

I cant stay over there for very long or I will fall into the nastiness which I so abore.

Of course I do agree with many of the NCC’s positions(dont mistake that) but how they go about posting is just too mean for me.😦

I have actually thought of posting a comment over there and asking my brethren to stop being so sarcastic.

BTW-I have seen some of you post over there;) (IM WATCHING YOU:cool: ) I have a different name and Im not disclosing it:p Although you might be able to single me out because you will never see me post like they do.😃

I have been trying to teach my children that if they are kind people will be kind back. Human behavior really is that simple. Be kind and you will receive kindness in return.
Be mean and expect it back ten fold.

Ok I just wanted to put my :twocents: in

Hi Mike,

It still doesnt mean it is not true;)
You’re right! But why do you clearly see these essentials of Christianity in Scripture while other equally sincere Sola Scriptura Sola Fide Protestants do not?

God Bless,
Michael

🤷 It is all about intrpretation. I truly see OSAS as clear as day and can reconcile it with other scriptures that you guys say go against it. So go figure:shrug:

Dont worry though I still 100% believe in doing good deeds:thumbsup: I dont believe I have a liscence to sin.😃

I think we are off topic though:o

FWIW, I post there under the same name that I post here.
Good to know now you better make sure you are nice because I will be watching you.👍 LOL

I am the Fruit of the Spirit police.👍 😛

Really? I don’t think that is quite accurate.

I belive “inspired” not “authored” would be the word of choice.

God didn’t pick up a pen an jot a few things down.

He also didn’t dictate the script to the authors.

In fact I don’t think either God or the authors claimed such a thing.

I think belief that those writings that constitute scripture are inspired by God and that their Authors wrote what God wanted them to write is something that silly Catholic Church made up.

Chuck
Sorry, your church also says that God authored the Scriptures.

I guess we all “worship the bible” then.

Good. I don’t have a problem with folks cross indexing what I post at both forums, not that anyone would ever be so inclined (I’m simply not that interesting 😛 ). Coming from the Anglican tradition though, I often can appreciate both Catholic and Protestant viewpoints and, so, over there I do tend to take a slightly more “Catholic stance” than I do here because I think that may help the Protestants over there better understand Catholics. Maybe I do the reverse here. In any event though, I would never post anything that I didn’t believe was to be true…at least not without a disclaimer saying that “if I understand it correctly, this is what ___ are advocating.”

This is something you will have to take up with your church, not with me.

“Since the fourth century the teaching of the Church concerning the nature of the Bible is practically summed up in the dogmatic formula that God is the author of Sacred Scripture.” newadvent.org/cathen/13635b.htm

136 **God is the author of Sacred Scripture **because he inspired its human authors; he acts in them and by means of them (CCC)
