To justify women’s abject subjugation to man, in order to punish women for Eve’s sin.

(Somewhat exaggerated to make the point.)
and we get money under our pillows form the tooth fairly.

Nice story, but in need of a reality check.

Ok I’m sorry about mocking Joseph smith, but doesn’t the Mormons say that the book of Mormon is “another” Gospel of Jesus Christ ?
The Book of Mormon is the gospel of Jesus Christ, or contains the fulness of that gospel (D&C 42:12). It is not another gospel of Jesus Christ—if by that you mean a different gospel.

I don’t know about all Bible versions, but the KJV uses the term “the gospel according to” Matt-John. I think we can all agree that they are all in fact teaching the same gospel. where we may not agree, but it could be well argued is that the BoM is also teaching that gospel.

The Mormon non-answer to the question:
My answer was on the same level as the one before.

Women are highly regarded in the LDS religion. Yes we have some people who don’t get, but that is the same with any group.

The Mormon non-answer to the question:
That was a question you put to Majick, in response to what he had posted. Why are you now expecting other people to answer it?

So what would an answer look like?
An answer is a response to a question. In this format, I would expect the response to be in a written form.
This is the question:
A)
How is this twist important to Mormon doctrine?
This is an answer to the question:
B)
To justify women’s abject subjugation to man, in order to punish women for Eve’s sin. (Somewhat exaggerated to make the point.)
An answer would look like a written response to ‘A.’ A written response to ‘B,’ would be avoiding the question.

The “Twist” is something that happened that way. I don’t think it really plays much if any role in the doctrine or social practices (aside from the odd joke).

The lds do go to sunday school where they do learn doctrine. The catholic church has no sunday school for adults. I can understand the milk thing. But you need to understand that people may have a difficult time embracing difficult concepts in 30 minutes. The meat would take more than one lesson as people plow their way through sunday school. However the meat can be had outside of sunday school through independent reading.
How many times are you going to claim this no sunday school thing? Of course there is sunday school, and other adult religious education. Where everything is discussed, there is no “meat” or “milk”.

The lds sunday school for adults, aka gospel doctrine, is full of whack job speculations, beyond sola scriptura, more like, sola religion.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. 9 As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.(Galatians) 1; 8-9 So what do ya’ll Mormon think of this part of the Bible ?

Yes of course, disobeying Gods commands does equal sin for all the children of Adam and Eve. As I see it, Adam and Eve where innocent not knowing good or evil. I would say that they transgressed but did not sin. All others from then knowing good from evil could sin, but that first act, I believe, was not a sin.

Paul
Paul, I think this assertion is highly mistaken, and not just a matter of interpretation either. What Adam did was a *great *sin, and calling it a “transgression” doesn’t somehow lower its gravity. Remember God’s ominous warning to him if he partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge, “For in the day that you eat of it you shall die.” That’s pretty darn serious, don’t you think? One does not earn spiritual death for some trivial violation. One receives spiritual death from sin and sin only.

Your next question might be, “If they were innocent, would they even know what death meant?” After all, nothing had died yet. But the answer has to be an emphatic “yes,” necessarily so, since it would be sensless to threaten a man with a meaningless penalty. It’s not clear how Adam knew, but it’s reasonably certain that he knew to partake of the fruit was a serious violation of God’s commandment. Whatever he thought death was, he had to know that it was something really bad, and thus to be avoided at all costs. Again, God’s penalty would have been meaningless if Adam didn’t have a good idea what God meant.

And if that’s not sufficient for you, let’s hear what St. Paul says about Adam’s sin:Therefore, just as through one person sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all, inasmuch as all sinned–for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law. But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the type of the one who was to come.

Romans 5:12-14

So even though sin wasn’t accounted for before the law (which refers to the law of Moses), sin was still sin, and it was in the world from the time of Adam’s first sin. St. Paul tells us that all have sinned (even those up to the time of the law, including Adam). And if you still don’t believe, this will really drive it home:And the gift is not like the result of the one person’s sinning. For after one sin there was the judgement that brought condemnation; but the gift, after many transgressions, brought acquittal. For if, by the transgression of one person, death came to reign through that one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of justification come to reign in life through the one person Jesus Christ.*Romans 5:16-17 (emphasis added)*Who was the one person who sinned? Adam. For after one sin refers to which sin? Adam’s. St. Paul makes no distinction here between sinning, trespassing, or transgressing. They’re all three the same thing–sin. So I think we can now safely dismiss this notion that Adam did not sin when he violated God’s commandment.

I don’t know what this has to do with the topic of this thread, but, ok – Paul was talking about those that came to the Galatians after he left who added back into the Galatian church, elements of Jewish Worship, which where no longer required to observe as Christ fulfilled the law. These individuals openly challenged Paul’s authority as an apostle claiming they were more worthy as they heard and were taught by the other apostles in Jerusalem.

As far as LDS go, we believe and teach the Gospel of Christ which is the good news of saving acts performed by Jesus on our behalf and of his resurrection which we all partake in. What do you think we leave out?

Paul

But this scripture is much bigger in scope than the little box you are putting it in, it can easy fit the Mormon religion.

Only if you force your bias onto the text, as it is defined in scripture we teach and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ - As I pointed in the last post. What you are suggesting is not what Paul is exhorting, but comparing a literal interpretation of the words “other Gospel” by what you believe and practice as the standard, then dropping LDS belief into your interpreted and defined sense of the term “other Gospel”.

I believe the Gospel of Christ is the good news of saving acts performed by Jesus on our behalf and of his resurrection which we all partake in. Again what do we leave out, or what do you believe the Gospel is?

Paul

I haven’t seen any sunday school in the catholic church for aduts. It is Mass and then home. When do you have sunday school in salt lake? After Mass??

I posted a link from the encyclopedia of mormonism. I believe that it answers the question about the fall of adam and what the lds church believes.

A dicussion about who is right and who is wrong is futile. It is best just to respect the beliefs of the other and move on. All questions will be answered upon death.

It’s not called “Sunday school,” but our parish has religious for adults on 9:30 - 10:30 on Sunday mornings. We also have three separate Bible study classes during the week. Parishioners are not required to attend, but the voluntary attendance is usually pretty high. A quick check around other parishes in this archdiocese shows that nearly all of them also have some sort of adult education.
