Yes, it was definitely a typo. Monsignor Guido Marini (the current Master of Papal Ceremonies) would not have said such a thing. It was Archbishop Piero Marini, as YoungTradCath said above.I see what you mean - in the excerpted part it does say Mgr, the rest of the article keeps saying Archbishop. Maybe they made a typo in the article?
But it is reasonable to expect a clarification and defense of the Faith from the shepherds!!!and let us also remember that not every bishop is a saint.
It is possible to see how this could be a misquote. For instance, it’s possible that some words, such as “Some say” ,preceded the first words of the quote. All a journalist had to do was to delete them, thereby changing the meaning of the Archbishop’s words.From Vatican Insider:
