Don’t slack off, and make sure your teachers know they’re getting your work. When I had an online college class, I got an F in the class because for some reason my professor was not getting the work. So, one of the people in charge, (who happens to be an Eastern Orthodox priest), went and changed my grade from an F to a B. I should probably point out, and I’m sure Father agreed, that if a teacher is not getting your work for an entire semester, they should probably tell you

I am very obsessive about school work. I want to be a school Prefect (God willing) in my last year (next year) so I like to work hard.

Here, we don’t have an A-F marking system. We have:
  1. Excellence (highest grade)
  2. Merit
  3. Achieved.
  4. Not Achieved

I know that it’s not a universal grading scale, but I know that it’s fairly well-known because of pop culture. I have to be honest with you, being American is weird, because everyone thinks they know about your country. We have so many different accents and words for soft drinks and regionalisms. It’s a bizarre place to live, but I legitimately love my country. some of the earlier grades depending on where you live, do use different grading scales than A through F.

Yes NCEA is quite a silly system and unfortunately, quite behind universally. But good luck with your studies, I am so happy I finished year 13, 😅 it only takes some discipline and then you will easily pass.

To be fair, in my first two years of secondary school we used a grading system that went from A1 (the highest mark) to D2 (the lowest mark). It didn’t have an ‘F’ though.

Hello.

I am a 17 year old male Catholic Croat from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am a revert, because I spent around 2 years in Protestantism, but came back to the faith, by God’s endless mercy, around November or December last year. I am also part of a religious organization, Franciscan Youth, which is under the Secular Franciscan Order.
I am currently in high school, and I plan to get a major in English and Croatian language and literature, so that I may work in the field of education. I love researching lots of different things, religious or non-religious. I try to pray the Rosary(one third of it, that is) daily, and try to have prayers and conversation with God throughout the day.

My favourite saints are St. Francis of Assisi and St. John Bosco, and my favourite blessed is Blessed Ivan Merz(a painting of him when he served in the army is my profile picture).

I also love being on Catholic Answers Forums. 😁

Ciao!
Wow Bosnia and Herzegovina is a long way away! Keep praying your rosary everyday, it is one of the best weapons for protection and is spiritually so beneficial!
I hope you are safe and good luck with your schooling too, it can be a little difficult to work from home, but at least we can still get an education.

Thanks.
We’re currently on Easter break, so no online classes right now. But, it will all work out well, I am sure in that.

Oh wow, at all the uni’s they extended the Easter break to a month, but it should not be used as a break because the first day of re-commencement requires the submission of essays and assignments.

Same for my holidays.

They were moved forward two weeks. All the work I was meant to do in the last two weeks of term I had to do in the holidays. It was quite annoying.

I am also still disappointed that I can’t go to Mass. I know it’s for the good of the country to protect us, but missing Easter Sunday Mass was awful.

Tell me about it, not receiving communion in so long is horrible. If this is indeed a test we must remain faithful and utilize this time to grow stronger spiritually. At least we can watch mass and receive spiritual communion daily.

The problem with doing work online at high school is that the curriculum is far more dependant on a teacher than it is at uni. One benefit with me being at home is that at least I can find time to read in between work 🙂
