I take that as a yes…so sad. You will be judged very harshly, Sister Amy, for choosing a false religion for such frivolous reasons.
I would like to remind you that I gave my decision a tremendous amount of thought and prayer before concluding that Islam was the right path.

So you ought to ponder why your God, to whom I was praying, would lead me to Islam. Instead of complaining about warm-fuzzies… unless you’re jealous or something. I know you were trying to insult me but I’m not interested in playing along.

It seems sometimes that muslims are being punished by god. Every time I hear of an earthquake or some other natural calamity it is centered inside a muslim country. And I must say that islam certainly did not bring peace to the muslim world. I only hear of infighting and brutality among the muslims: sunni, shia, etc. And when I see muslims in India, I only hear of violence and trauma among muslims and hindus. It seems that muslims have a hard time living in peace among other faiths and among themselves.

I must say that if islam is from god, god is a strange god. But I am only giving my reflections on the issue. I find it all rather confusing. And I certainly would not want to be a woman in afghanistan or in pakistan or in somalia or in Saudi Arabia or in Yeman. Or in Iraq where some are being forced to strap on bombs.

I hear no such problems within mormonism.

You never heard about Hurricane Katrina? Wasn’t that big earthquake this summer in China? Maybe you have selective listening.

So you think God is punishing Muslims in those cases?

Muslims don’t see the world that way–i.e., suffering in this life as necessarily a punishment. Think of the concept of a martyr–in Islam, a martyr is someone who will not be held to account on the day of resurrection, like everyone else.

Let’s think about the tsunami. Who is a martyr? Someone who drowns is a martyr. Someone who is crushed by a wall or building is a martyr. Someone who dies of a stomach disease is a martyr. Someone who dies of plague is a martyr. (And there are more.) But can you think of anyone who died in the tsunami that wouldn’t be a martyr??

So first of all, not every calamity is centered in the Muslim world–that’s a straight lie you should have researched better. And second of all, according to Islam people who die in natural disasters like that aren’t necessarily being punished–you don’t know. It might be good for you to do more research on Islam–particularly on the concept of God, since it seems so strange to you.

You prayed to my God (the Blessed Trinity) or to the Islamic monad? God did not lead you to Islam, Amy; Satan led you to Islam. You are sadly deceived. And this is exactly what the Mormons and a host of other false religions claim, why would your claim be any different? And I’m not jealous of your “warm fuzzies”, because my faith is built on facts, reason, and divine revelation, and not on the foolish whims of the human heart.

that’s because the angels who appeared to Smith and Muhammad do not agree, though they managed to get millions of followers.😛

…As strange as it may sound, inJESUS, Islam has even less credibility than Mormonism, since eight men claimed to have seen the “golden plates” and the “Urim and Thummin” that Joseph Smith used to translate the Book of Mormon. How many witnesses saw the Angel Gabriel appear to Mohammad?

do u ask the same questions about Bible ? How many witnesses were there when angels visited Mother Mary (p) ? How do u know it was not devil but Jesus (p) as Paul claimed etc etc ?

That is the most ironic statement I’ve ever read from a Muslim on CAF…
No, she’s just pointing out the hypocrisy of many critics out there whose same asinine logic could be used against their religion.

The major miracles of Christianity DID have witnesses, MuslimWoman. The death and resurrection of Jesus, for example, were witnessed by hundreds. The Qur’an is the only “miracle” Islam claims, yet there is not a single witness.

Muslims believe in the miracle
birth of Jesus (p) , though there were no witnesses . Surprisingly , no Christians challenge us why do we believe in it ?

Muhammed (p) divided the moon in front of many people , he asked a tree & it moved from its place & testified in front of others that you are a messenger of God . There were many more miracles but those were performed by the will & power of God only.

Miracles did not make any man equal to God.

Who says Jesus’ birth was not witnessed? Have you even read the Bible or are you simply following the opinions of ‘Muslim scholars’ who don’t even know anything about their own profession of faith? I am aware how many ‘Muslim scholars’ cite from JW rhetoric, which is equivalent when Christians cite Druze theology to examplify Muslim theology.

If Mohammad performed miracles, why do Muslims deny he ever did? Miracles are a continuing revelation, which only in the Catholic Church can you witness such even today. How come we never hear of any Islamic miracle that exists today? And please don’t cite examples of the tree which bears the name of Allah or the Asian tsunami which destroyed churches but saved mosques. The pictures are forgeries that even the not-so tech-savvy can spot.

There are plenty of witnesses to the Qur’an. Witness today and witnesses historically, even witnesses to its revelation. There are also witnesses to the Angel Gabriel.

In retrospect, the title of the thread should be The Koran and the Book of Mormon.

My apologies, LDS members.

Islam has numbers of followers in the billions.
Your point? It takes millions to make billions doesn’t it, Sister Amy? Muslims have billions of followers because they breed like vermin…it isn’t that difficult when you are allowed to have four wives AT A TIME and can divorce your wife for the most trivial of reasons. It is not at all uncommon in gulf Arab countries for a man to have scores of wives in his lifetime.

What is a “witness” to the Qur’an? Do you mean there were witnesses to Mohammad going into a “trance” or seizure and foaming at the mouth while he uttered the words of the Qur’an? It would certainly explain why it is so incoherent and nonsensical. The Qur’an is rubbish and every copy should be gathered up and repackaged as toilet paper.
