Treacle (dark)=molasses. It actually has cocoa powder in the dough and then chocolate chips stirred in.
You could make the liquid, liquor.
I do like a nice moist fruitcake.

Rugelach is something I have wanted to try making.
Every November I put it on my baking list, but Christmas comes and goes and I never get to it. 😔
 
I cheat and make mine using ready made pie crust.

The difference I think is the lack of cream cheese in the pie crust, but it’s a close approximation.

I wish I had Costco where I live. They sell excellent rugelach, especially the chocolate ones.
