What specifically is the “common sense” to which you refer? And since when is Church teaching “objective truth”?

The common sense is that it is disordered for higher ordered humans to engage in selfish pleasures with one’s own reproductive organs that serve no other purpose than “self-pleasure”. That is a truncation of the organ’s natural purpose. The natural gravity is directed toward propagating the species through a familial relationship and pairing with a dual reward for paring - shared pleasure and conception of children. Even from an ‘evolution of the species’ line of reasoning the non-symmetrical abilities (in general) of the genders to equally approximate self pleasure (e.g. the male is comparatively much more physically limited in frequency of self pleasure) is a strong indication that masturbation is unnatural. This asymmetry in self-pleasure at the gender level manifests an “unfairness” only in attempts to enact self-pleasure but becomes mute when opposite genders are paired; the reason is that that ONLY in paring is the pleasure spectrum broadened into a holistic that encompasses a richer dimension of mutual satisfaction ( a real synergy). By that latter thing I mean there is not only physical pleasure, there is an emotional connection, an empathy with one’s partner through giving, a much greater sense of purpose in the potential for a creative outcome and in the ability to please and receive affection from one’s partner. Thus in the paired sexual act there is a spiritual dimension that utterly transcends mere self-pleasure and which is only attainable by pairing. Do you not want to be all you can be and attain your highest and best use of your natural facilities?

Do you not belive that humanity has a spirital nature? If rather you do believe that humankind has a spiritaul nature then please elaborate how masturbation POSITIVELY engages the full human nature of physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional? I don’t think you can - since masturbation is a base act that has no higher ordered purpose.

Besides all that – I am convinced that habitual masturbators are emotionally and socially imbalanced and do not come close to ever maturing to reach their full human potential - which always requires some level of self denial, self discipline and sacrifice.

What could be more extraordinary than believing that one man in Rome can somehow tell all of us, infallibly, what God wants us to do or not do? And 2000 years of moral “teaching” - so what? It still has to stand on its own, without self-referential claims of infallibility.

What could be more extraordinary than believing an anonymous person on CAF who is inventing his own theology and morality against all the historical Christian mores to attempt to project himself as infallable? What are YOUR credentials Pope TedDC?

The papal claims of infallability come directly from scripture that were divinely inspired that tell us that The Church will be guided to all truth and that the gates of hell will not prevail against Christ’s Church. Its a rather elementary application of logic to derive that if The Church is the Body of Christ (as scripture tells us) then for the Church to ever teach error is for evil (Satan) to corrupt the incorruptible - God/Christ. That would be the same as the gates of hell prevailing against Christ’s Church. So if the truths we start from in scripture are objective truth as millions of early church martyers attested by ther blood and as we still believe then ergo its clear that The Church itself is infallable and therefor also The Vicar of Christ (the Pope) who is the official voice of The Church in teachings of faith and morals.
