Dear Friends,
What has been called the “Miracle of Damascus” which is associated with the icon of Our Lady of Soufanieh - www.soufanieh.com - is now recorded and disseminated in video format on the internet under the official auspices and imprimatur of the Roman Catholic Bishop Paulus Barkhash of Damascus. The Messages of Soufanieh have received the Nihil Obstat according to Roman Catholic canonical procedure. Those documents are posted at the aforementioned website.

It is of especial interest in our day that this miracle has occurred in the Mideast. Of even more interest is the participation of the local Moslem populace in the phenomenon. While the Moslems rever the Mother of Jesus the Christ, they consider her as Miriam, the Mother of a Prophet, which distinguishes their belief from ours. Islam grew up in the Mideast where Mohammed, their prophet was exposed to both the Judaic tradition which we share and the Christianity which had taken firm hold in that area. The Orthodoxy traditions of Christianity which are shared by Western and Eastern Churches both are differentiated from Islam by their apt definition of the Divinity of the Saviour.
The daughter of Mohammed was named Fatima. That name traveled to Spain and Portugal during the Moorish conquests. Our Lady chose to appear under that name as “Our Lady of Fatima” in Leira, Portugal. Her messages there were perhaps one of the most important maternal celestial warnings of the 20th century and they remain pertinent to this day.
In Damascus, Our Lady and the Lord Christ are calling for unity - unity of the Christian Churches. It is a matter of great rejoicing that the Moslems also marvel at this pheomenon.
God bless you.
