Dear Friends,

What has been called the “Miracle of Damascus” which is associated with the icon of Our Lady of Soufanieh - www.soufanieh.com - is now recorded and disseminated in video format on the internet under the official auspices and imprimatur of the Roman Catholic Bishop Paulus Barkhash of Damascus. The Messages of Soufanieh have received the Nihil Obstat according to Roman Catholic canonical procedure. Those documents are posted at the aforementioned website.

It is of especial interest in our day that this miracle has occurred in the Mideast. Of even more interest is the participation of the local Moslem populace in the phenomenon. While the Moslems rever the Mother of Jesus the Christ, they consider her as Miriam, the Mother of a Prophet, which distinguishes their belief from ours. Islam grew up in the Mideast where Mohammed, their prophet was exposed to both the Judaic tradition which we share and the Christianity which had taken firm hold in that area. The Orthodoxy traditions of Christianity which are shared by Western and Eastern Churches both are differentiated from Islam by their apt definition of the Divinity of the Saviour.

The daughter of Mohammed was named Fatima. That name traveled to Spain and Portugal during the Moorish conquests. Our Lady chose to appear under that name as “Our Lady of Fatima” in Leira, Portugal. Her messages there were perhaps one of the most important maternal celestial warnings of the 20th century and they remain pertinent to this day.

In Damascus, Our Lady and the Lord Christ are calling for unity - unity of the Christian Churches. It is a matter of great rejoicing that the Moslems also marvel at this pheomenon.

God bless you.

Thanks for this post. For me it was very timely. Just last evening I was in a discussion with our pastor (Maronite church) and a fellow parishioner concerning the attendance at our Liturgies of several Syrian Orthodox Catholics. They have no church of their own and they freely partake of our Sacraments and are great supporters of our parish. Their Eucharistic beliefs are identical to ours. The introductory material on the link you provided reiterated the explanation our pastor gave us last night and expanded it a bit. I found it very helpful. The videos were very interesting.

I think the phenomenon of the stigmata is more common than we realize. A deceased priest friend of mine told of seeing a stigmatist lady in Virginia Beach (or Norfolk, I don’t remember exactly), Virginia when he was a young priest. The story of Mother Angelica relates her experiences with a stigmatist when she was young. There is a priest in the Diocese of Arlington, VA with the stigmata. (I spoke with a Deacon who observed the priest’s wounds bleeding during a concelebration of Mass at which the deacon was standing next to the priest.) The manifestations of God are truly awesome.

Dear Friend,

Please see my post at this link.

Yes, I have been privileged as a Roman Catholic to worship in the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church at the Mar Gregorios Ashram founded by Mother Susan of India. I was allowed to participate in Holy Mass (Qurbana) and also to communicate.

I have published a video of some footage of that Mass at this link.

May God continue to bless you. Please feel free to contact me privately for further information.

We need to pray and pray hard for the safety of this woman and her family. After the Arab summit in Damascus this last weekend, Syria started ratcheting things up. There was a report in the Jerusalem Post on April 2 that stated that Syria has been increasing forces along the Israeli border and also calling up reserves. The original article has been replaced with a place keeper that denied Israel was planning on attacking Syria; however, the original article can be found here. There was also a report in Debkafile (Exclusive: Barak calls off German trip next week as Damascus raises war alarm) that indicated the Israeli Security Cabinet was taking the Syrian increase seriously.

The same thing was happening a year ago, where Syria went so far as to move the national archives out of Damascus. That escalation stopped when the Syrians were loading chemical weapons warheads onto missiles and one of the warheads exploded, contaminating the launch site. About 100 people – both Syrian and Iranian – died that night. For those who don’t know, you do not load live warheads onto missiles unless you’re planning to launch them within 24 hours.

Isaiah 17:1-2 says: Oracle on Damascus: Lo, Damascus shall cease to be a city and become a ruin; Her cities shall be forever abandoned, given over to flocks to lie in undisturbed. We need to pray for Myrna Nazzour, her family, and all the people of Damascus.

Obtained a large picture from the USA about 6 months ago of Our Lady of Soufanieh, the little crippled boys crooked legs straightening out and then him being able to walk touched my heart.

You can obtain a picture from the Fatima Family Apostolate.

Also if you go to Catholic Digital Studios, they have a set of four versions of the icon of Our Lady of Soufanieh that you can print out and hang in your cubicle at work. I plan on hanging mine next to my icon of St. Ksenia, a Russian Orthodox saint.
