The morality of eating Chicken instead of Turkey for Thanksgiving

"A young man named John received a parrot as a gift.

The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the birdā€™s mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the birdā€™s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to ā€˜clean upā€™ the birdā€™s vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that heā€™d hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto Johnā€™s outstretched arms and said ā€œI believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. Iā€™m sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.ā€

John was stunned at the change in the birdā€™s attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly, ā€œMay I ask what the turkey did?ā€ ā€™

As an Australian I donā€™t celebrate Thanksgiving per se, but I think itā€™s an admirable custom. Just go easy on all the food.

Sure! I have also seen 40-somethings gnawing a turkey drumstick! I myself have gnawed a turkey drumstick! Quite delicious!

Turducken is lovely. This year, they have decided to roll in another fowl to make up a four bird roast: turkey, duck, chicken and goose. For the time being it is referred to on telly as ā€œfour bird roastā€. Is there another name in the tradition of ā€œturducken?ā€

So my son just showed me Epicmealtime.com ā€¦ they did the birds, plus then added some pork and bacon, then they tucked it all inside a suckling pick and grilled that - covered in baconā€¦

The video is geared towards college kids, so there are some things :cool:ā€¦youā€™ve been warned!
 
supposedly Henry VIII was served something similar at a banquet, but the whole fowl within a fowl thing was stuffed inside a pig, and that inside a whole beefā€“and when the things was cut open live partridges flew out. Well thatā€™s what I heard, I wasnā€™t there of course.
 
As a Brit Iā€™ve never been to a thanksgiving dinner.
However, I have eaten turkey and frankly it pales into comparison with chicken. Chicken is a great tasting juicy meat whereas every time Iā€™ve eaten turkey it is bland and always dry.

Greetings Thistle,

I am sure that the turkey is dry becuase of how it is prepared. We usually dump a can of chicken broth on it and let it cook that way. It comes out moist every single time. The dark meat seems to me to be more moist than the breast. I only eat the dark meat of them.

I tend to agree, I donā€™t generally enjoy turkey.

The only exception was when we deep fried a whole turkey. While roasting turkey dries it out, deep frying holds in all the moisture. It was delicious.
 
If you start with a good quality turkey and cook it properly, it is definitely NOT dry!!šŸ˜‰
