So? What is wrong with that? SHouldnt we be joyous that she is first and foremost a Christian? St. Paul says it well, it is him or Apollos or Kephas that saves, but Christ Himself, so the divisions need to cease!
You are right the division does need to cease. But where did the division began? It began when man decide he knew better than God. Yeah sure we cover it up with flatter by saying, God would or wouldn’t want us to do this or that. But in reality it wasn’t until the 1500’s when man decided to look past the wonderful gifts God gave us to help us in our journey and start looking at what is more convenient for him.

So yes, lets rejoice that one is Christian but that is not the end of ones job, to be Christian, we most also pick up our cross and follow Him.

What do most Protestants think about when they hear the phrase “Word of God”?
Of course Jesus is the “Word of God” and all of the submeanings of this phrase can be summed up in Christ. Protestants should believe this upon reflection on this term.

In common usage however, “Word of God” usually refers to the written word of God. When we want to refer to the second person of the trinity, we say Jesus or Christ. This is understandable if not totally theologically accurate.

In Pentecostal/charismatic circles you might hear the phrase “Word from the Lord” to reference a gifting.

Of course in the Bible the phrase “Word of God” has multiple meanings depending upon context. For in the book of Ezekiel you often read a phrase such as “the word of the Lord came to me”. I doubt whether this means a Torah here.

Well you guess wrong, you dont know me, and your character judgement shows, lets just say, a lack of good fruit on your part. Funny thing, Jesus’ main objection to the Pharisees was just that, the letter of the law and rules vs. their true meaning and purpose. You need to read St. PAul a lot more. And, if as you say, Christ came to perfect the law(which is incorrect, HE FULFILLED it, so that the law nolonger applies, again, read Paul), then please tell me you are kosher, you celebrate Passover, and youre circumcized. If not, then your whole point is moot.
Dear, Baptism is our “circumcision,” the Mass is our “Passover.” And fulfilling the law is not getting rid of it. Where did you come up with that? One more thing, how was what dbacks5439 lacking good fruit?

We should be joyous that a woman left the Church Jesus Christ established after reading a book not written by Jesus Christ? That is called apostasy, what she has done and what appears to be the direction you’re going. No true Christian rejoices in another’s sin, even if it makes them feel good. Either the Church, established by Jesus, is being continued by the Holy Ghost or Jesus is a liar. You decide.

The more I read this forum, and the more I read my Bible, the more sensitive I become to all the almost non-stop bickering and senseless arguing. St. Paul warned Timothy and Titus against such futile pursuits.
Getting back to the initial post of this thread, I must agree. I keep waiting for someone to want to debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

you understanding lacks depth
What a surprise, Joel! Once again, you throw out an accusation, a very degrading accusation (how Christian!) without backing it up. Of course, *you *know the meaning of the Bible better than the ones that God Himself inspired to put it together in the first place. It is your understanding that has no depth, as the your main response is “your wrong.” You need to change your profile from “Catholic” to “What I Say Goes.”

God doesn’t lead people out of the Church that He sent His Son to establish.
**OH YES INDEED, THE ALMIGHTY DOES… He lead me out of the church! And I have a wonderful personal relationship with G-d. He answers my prayers and I serve Him with all my heart, with all my soul and with all my resources. **

Blessed are You, HaShem our G-d, King of the Universe who establishes the footsteps of man. Tehellim/Psalms 37:23

Sorry to burst you bubble, but you were led out of the Church by the “angel of light.” That doesn’t mean you’re insincere, but you’re sincerely wrong. Had you known what the Church actually teaches, the chances of you being deceived would’ve been greatly diminished.

God led me out of the church too. I removed all the gift wrappings and found god within layers upon layers of foam. Now I just believe in god with no strings attached. Yes to faith, no to religion. 😃

The more I read the Bible the less Catholic I became…until I realized I was no longer Catholic at all.
so which religious group has the “correct” interpretation of holy scripture if it’s not the Catholic Church (which wrote and assembled the Bible, I might add)?

as for the word of god being the Bible, i’m reminded of John 1:1: “in the beginning was the word, and the word was with god, and the word was god”. that’s not referring to the Bible, is it?

I know quite well what Christianity teaches as I was a little tyke and grew up in the church - went to bible college, taught Sunday school, mission trips.

Sincere - oh yes, I am very sincere but not deceived.

Can we not turn this same quote upon Christians - they are sincere but deceived?

Good for you Agnos - keep the 7 Noahide laws and you are just fine - yes, you will go to Heaven when you die. And yes you will merit the world to come and will rejoice on that terrible day when HaShem will judge the nations.

If only personal opinion meant “truth.”

So you were raised Protestant? The Christian group with a “to each his own” theology? No wonder you left. Yes, you could say the same back at us, but as the topic does revolve around Christianity, this certainly wouldn’t be the thread to do it in.

a rather presumptuous statement, don’t you think? What if Agnos. started killing Jews? still heavenbound?

The more I read this forum, and the more I read my Bible, the more sensitive I become to all the almost non-stop bickering and senseless arguing. St. Paul warned Timothy and Titus against such futile pursuits. It seems to me this is the nature of denominations, I guess. However, I seem to be developing more of a “Christian” mindset than denominational. For all the times I used to defend the Catholic faith, and it was many, I was never as at peace and felt as close to God as I do now that I am not as concerned with ritual or teaching, but only the Word of God.
what does the bible say? that Jesus in the most important moment before his cruxifiction he established a last covenant with mankind, that covenant is his very body and blood in the eucarist. It is soemthign that make us parttakers with the very same Christ and we will have him in ourselves.
the word of God that are his teachings and the explanation of his lvoe in human words can come before his very same act of love that is remaining in the breath and wine, for the love that he has for us. therefore it is Christ himself that is there and not jsut bread and wine. the bible is aobut covenants that God made with men in diferent times, the eucarist is his covenant for now, the last covenant, if peopel parktake with it, they will be partaking with Christ.

besides the mass is twofold it has a liturgic part that is better than readign the bible alone, because it will be explained by the church of God, rather than with our own explanation and reasoning.

and the sacramental part that is about his covenant of love, that is is Jesus himself. so there are liek a thousend reasons why we need to go to mass rather than only to read the scripture at home.

If he kept the 7 Noahide laws, he would NOT kill - as that is 1 of the 7
And if you would read the New Testament in light of what the Early Church Fathers believed, you would NOT leave the Church- as that is the only way to salvation. Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus.
