Hi Melanie, greetings!
This is not right. God is an exalted man is not doctrine. It was an idea presented by church leadership as speculation but was never sustained.
Not true. It was given as fact by Joseph Smithā¦who claimed to talk to God all the time. It was repeated by later LDS Prophetsā¦see what I mean, Melanie?
This means, that the leaders had this idea, conferred the matter to God by the power of the Holy Spirit and received an answer that this is not something we need at this point in time in the matter of our salvation.
This means, since it is fringe belief, it is considered fact, but not discussed.,ā¦even deniedā¦like polygamy
So, as of today, we still donāt know exactly what āgathering of intelligencesā entail, just like we donāt know exactly how God created the earth. And that this is not something we need to attain perfection and sit in the presence of God in the end of days.
So, Joseph Smith lied. Got it
Hello SirThomasMore,
Youāre an ex-LDS-missionary you said. What timeframe was this?
I just want to know because it is pretty common knowledge and everywhere in
lds.org even that polygamy was a practice of the early church leadership. Iām not sure why you think it is ādeniedā?
For Melanie,
I have no intention of painting the LDS church with a bright brush by sweeping difficult things under the rug.
Just like being a Catholic for the first 30 years of my life, I have no intention of painting the Catholic church with a bright brush by sweeping difficult Catholic history under the rug.
Learn your Catholic history and if you want to know what the LDS believe, study the LDS history as well. You wonāt learn much from a forum where learning is not delivered with the Holy Spirit. I would hate to think that people studying if the Catholic church is Godās church would take their learning from the Mormon forum.
All I can do is tell you what I, as a Catholic who became LDS, believe. And all SirThomas can tell you is what he, as an LDS who became Catholic, believes. If you really want to learn, go and study and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Otherwise, this is nothing but a he-said, she-said exercise complete with ulterior motives and what-not.
Peace to all.
