Thank you all for posting your thoughts on this! While most of my opinion has not changed, I see things a tad bit differently because of all who posted.

Feel free to continue to post about this subject. I really like all the thoughts here. I’m a little bit busy and might respond to some of your other posts a bit later.

May God’s love continue to dwell in all of your hearts!

Scott

Have you all noticed a simple fact? If you have a picture of a beautiful female dog and bring it to a dog, he will not be interested at all. Dogs are not playboys. Not that they don’t love female dogs, they love them tremendously, but they will not be interested in the picture, in pornography.
Are you sure that the dog can recognize the picture as a female dog?

Look at wild life…do you see any war there? The animals prove my point. History as we know it has always been repressed and organized societies, which is why most of history is war. In the past 3,000 years we have had 5,000 wars.
What is your definition of war? Do you define war by the use of technological weapons? Do you define war as one cultural group (or in the case of animals, animal groups) attacking each other?

What does drunk monkeys have to do with anything? No, they aren’t world monkey wars. They don’t have bombs. They are in a fight for survival, and when the conflict is settled they let it be. Sometimes when animals fight neither sides have fatalities. It is never like that when people fight. And people hold grudges, too.
If you’re defining war as the use of technological weapons, such as bombs, then there haven’t been any wars until the past 20th century.

As for violence,

Lions, bears, and many different kinds of apes often commit infanticide, so that the nursing female will stop lactating, and start ovulating again, and become pregnant with that male’s offspring. The first thing a male lion does after it takes over a pride is to kill all of the cubs of the previous male lions, thus ensuring that the lionesses will be completely devoted to his cubs.

In Chimpanzees, there have been cases in which chimpanzee troupes have sought out chimps in rival troupes, and killed them in very violent, seemingly almost sadistic, fashion. This is referred to as the “demonic male theory.” While this theory is somewhat controversial, due to the conditions under which it observed, there have been recorded cases where chimps engaged in violent gang attacks and killings.

Buddhists don’t believe in human warfare, though…
This is another distraction, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

In Korea, the Buddhist monks often trained as warriors, and fought in defense of Korea during times of war, and were major players during the Japanese invasions of the 1590’s.

Dogs’ sexual triggers are olfactory-based, not visually-based. To do a true comparison test, expose the dog to the scent of a female dog in heat and see if he is aroused or his behavior changes. That is the dog equivalent of pornography—no saints or religion required, just finding the appropriate trigger.

Excellent point!

It isn’t any use. blacktiger057 has a rose tinted view of Buddhists.

Could you carry your thoughts out to their conclusion really quickly, Blacktiger? The last half of the original post seems to imply that any kind of moral laws or belief in the afterlife is thoughtlessly destructive. Do you really think that if human beings lived in total anarchy and followed nothing but physical and emotional impulses in their sexual activity, everything would be absolutelt fine sans a few minor upheavals? What exactly is your vision of how human beings should act with respect to government, moral laws (especially those dealing with human sexuality), and their animal impulses? What kind of world do you think such action would create?
