The new Archbishop of Detroit! What an amazing Mass!

Congratulations to the Arch-diocese of Detroit.

Do you know where I could find the text of his homily? I’m curious about what he had to say. When my family and I attended Mass at the Cathedral in Oakland back in the fall (feast of Christ the King), his homily was outstanding.

We will surely miss him here in the Oakland diocese. Please pray for our diocese and our new bishop (whomever he may be). From what our pastor said, It looks like we may not have a new bishop for about a year.

Hey Toni - long time no see. Will do, when I see her next

I’m hoping to hit St. Joan of Arc tomorrow which is only about 15 minute away.

Yes. They peppered them throughout the archdiocese so that people could attend. This is because they knew that not everyone could be at the installation Mass.

Yes, and let me tell you, it was a very beautiful mass. We had 10-12 priests and bishops concelebrating, along with two deacons, approximately 80 choir members, and our KofC Color Guard was on point. We had the Kyrie in Greek, the response to the intercession prayers was tri-lingual and sung (English, Spanish, and Latin) and we had the Agnus Dei in Latin. And, the best part, it wasn’t actually that long of a mass (school night and we had the kids with us).

As a bit of a sad side note - I learned after the Mass that just about at the time of the consecration my elderly grandmother died in her home of natural causes. Please pray for her soul, it had been many many years since she had been to Mass.

Hey, thanks Diane for the pictures and the link to the You Tube video, which I found at your website–my son is one of the young men who knelt for Communion. I was so excited to see the video because I did not see the Mass, only heard about it.
