Just to make the point that advising the “same old same old” actually was apropos…

Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) advice for the public

WHO’s standard recommendations for the general public to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses are as follows, which include hand and respiratory hygiene, and safe food practices:
  • Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water;
  • When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands;
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough;
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your health care provider;
  • When visiting live markets in areas currently experiencing cases of novel coronavirus, avoid direct unprotected contact with live animals and surfaces in contact with animals;
  • The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.

This advice is specific to Corona Virus as is the poster I have been pasting further up the page. The potential for this to be in meat and eggs is realized as 50 samples of the nucleic DNA were positive from the wet food market.

WHO referred to the list as “recommendations for the general public to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses.” It is even more important than ever during the outbreak of a new viral outbreak, but there are no new recommendations specific to coronavirus.

It is especially important during the outbreak of a new viral strain to get checked out and tested by a health care provider if you think you may have symptoms consistent with the new disease (or an old disease that is breaking out, in the case of something like a measles outbreak). This helps health authorities to track and contain the illness. Other than that, though, these are things we ought to have been doing all along. Those who haven’t been doing that would do well to get with the program and then stay there after this round of coronavirus is eventually contained.

Now 259 deaths and 11374 confirmed cases. That is a lot in 4 hours!

There are some pretty extreme travel measures being taken in a few countries in an attempt to halt its spread.

Hoping it will settle down and get lower over time.

They are concerned that the death toll could be higher and that people have died in their homes, but their
bodies not recovered yet.

I dont think any one would question the seriousness of this outbreak anymore. I read a disabled boy died at home because his parents had been quarantined and died, and there was no one to care for him. That is so sad.

Yes I wonder how many have died because of the quarantine, especially those that live alone with no outside contact ie phone. There where a number of elderly people found dead outside, I wonder if they went out to get help, but because the streets are empty they died on the footpaths - alone.

I was visiting with my cardiologist about this yesterday. Because of the potential risks to his patients he watches these types of things very closely. He said that without a doubt this is worse than any of us know. Any report from China is completely untrustworthy.
