WHO referred to the list as “recommendations for the general public to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses.” It is even more important than ever during the outbreak of a new viral outbreak, but there are no new recommendations specific to coronavirus.
It is especially important during the outbreak of a new viral strain to get checked out and tested by a health care provider if you think you may have symptoms consistent with the new disease (or an old disease that is breaking out, in the case of something like a measles outbreak). This helps health authorities to track and contain the illness. Other than that, though, these are things we ought to have been doing all along. Those who haven’t been doing that would do well to get with the program and then stay there after this round of coronavirus is eventually contained.
