It should be remembered that Iraq has been in the public eye of the world for some time before our invasion.

We shouldn’t forget that the U.N. took Iraq seriously enough to bring in the weapons inspectors.

Is there really much that we haven’t known about since then?

This was before or after the U.N. weapons inspectors went in there?
What would an Iraq - Al Qaeda connection have to do with the weapons inspectors? They weren’t looking for Al Qaeda or connections; they were looking for weapons.

Well done, buffalo!

Ain’t it sad the MSM, the left in American and in Europe are silent on this issue? All those facts you presented, all those sources and once again, “it’s not enough.”

Clinton first linked al Qaeda to Saddam

…The Clinton administration talked about firm evidence linking Saddam Hussein’s regime to Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda network years before President Bush made the same statements.
The issue arose again this month after the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States reported there was no “collaborative relationship” between the old Iraqi regime and bin Laden.

Yes. Very good. The democrats first linked al-Quaida with Iraq in 1998 under the Clinton administration by defense secretary Bill Cohen. Please read:

And it is conclusive that Saddam Hussein openly cooperated with bin Laden and used Iraqi resources to aid in bin Laden’s terrorism campaign including the 911 attacks against the U.S.

We have every right in the world to be in Afghanistan and Iraq and a few more sponsor countries of terror, yet it is only by George W. Bush’s benevolence that we refrain from attacking them.

Yes, leftists like the Holy Father and his predecessor. It’s sad indeed that they ignore these “facts”.

Even Rumsfeld has admitted that the evidence linking Saddam and al-Qaeda is thin: “to my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two” – Donald Rumsfeld, Oct. 4, 2004.

I didn’t know the Holy Father had access to CIA, DIA, or NSA informational reports, or maybe his Eminence should just read the Washington Post once in a while.

Maybe Donald Rumsfeld neglected to do his fundamental reading:

Bobby A. Greene:
Why did Michael Moore commit the sin of omission by not reporting this vital fact in his psuedo-schmockumentary 911?

Why don’t the Veterans against the Iraq War publish the bin Laden/Hussein cooperation letter on their website?

Why doesn’t Hollyweird do an interview with former defense secretary Bill Cohen and ask him how he discovered and confirmed the 1998 al-Quaida/Iraqi connection?
They would have to admit they were wrong and it is too lucrative for them to be counter culture.

The Holy Father was a leftist? That’s news to me.
Sarcasm is hard to express through the web.
So you believe Rumsfeld when he says he believed there was WMD in Iraq before we invaded?
I don’t believe much of what Rummy says, but I think it’s interesting he once admitted there was no reliable link between Saddam and al-Qaeda.

True. Very true, indeed!
I don’t believe much of what Rummy says, but I think it’s interesting he once admitted there was no reliable link between Saddam and al-Qaeda.
At the time the question was put to him he/we didn’t have access to the same info we have now, correct?

I mistakenly merged the threads. I have split what I could. Please carry on as if the moderator did not muck things up like I did.

Sorry.

I did this so-called commission get federal funds? If so, I think they should be presecuted for fraud and forced to pay back the money.

You do realize that, using the standards you are putting forth here, there is far more grounds for accusing the U.S. of cooperating with and supporting Al Queada than there is for accusing Iraq? I suppose the next step is for you to claim that Clinton planned 9/11. After that I’m sure you’ll go on to prove that the moon landings were faked and that the CIA killed JFK.
Most everyone will admit the 90’s was the decade of diplomacy, diplomacy that Saddam and other terrorists exploit continually.

Clinton planned it? C’mon! Moon landings faked? Try and keep your arguments and rebuttals professional and with sources. Rebut mine or withdraw. :tsktsk:
