Zundrah, you asked me:
Correct.
I said no - our Bible starts with Genesis
Well, it’s not called genesis…
The koran does not start with anything like the creation.
Not entirely, but it is simular.
Yes, Noah & Abraham are in the koran but not the same as they are in the Bible.
But never the less they are still in it.
Have you read the koran and compared the Biblical prophets against what the authors of koran wrote about them?
Maybe I have and maybe I haven’t… he he he… (you’ll never know!)
They are different on all levels and so is the muslim Isa/Jesus
Jesus is also in the Koran! 😃
See? He is so amazing that even the muslims had to pop him into their bible! 😉

The One Place on Earth Not Destroyed in ‘2012’

**For “2012,” Emmerich set his sites on destroying the some biggest landmarks around the world, from Rome to Rio. But there’s one place that Emmerich wanted to demolish but didn’t: the Kaaba, the cube-shaped structure located in the center of Mecca. It’s the focus of prayers and the site of the Hajj, the biggest, most important pilgrimage in Islam. **

**“Well, I wanted to do that, I have to admit,” the filmmaker told scifiwire.com. “But my co-writer Harald [Kloser] said, ‘I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie.’ And he was right.” **

Emmerich has no qualms about wrecking other major landmarks, however. The massive dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican rolls on top of a crowd of churchgoers. The huge Christ the Redeemer statue that looms over Rio de Janeiro disintegrates.

In the movie he’ll destroy:

The White House

The Sistine Chapel in the Vatican

St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican

Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro

but he’s afraid to blow up the Kaaba in his movie fearing fatwa’s…

What a wuss!
Well, I hope this movie scares the hell out of movie goers, and provoke them to seek God out. According to protestant/evagelical circles it sounds like the “Muslim religion will be left behind” to suffer the protestant/evangelical new invention of the Tribulation interpretation.

This destroying of Christian monuments or U.S monuments is not nothing new to hollywood it sells movie tickets. I do respect your opinion of the fear of movie makers of offending Muslims or the Islam religion, instead of fearing the almighty. It also displays how Islam makes death threats in the form or practice of “fatwas”, It is important to expose this part of Islam that instills fear instead of love and peace to the public.

Thanks for your movie information

From what I understand reading the “critics” is that this movie will “bomb” in the box office. Not because of this blowing up Christian stuff and not touching islamic religious places… it’s just that the movie stinks.

Even if you watch the trailer, by the time it’s over you yawn.

Excuse me, but what about incenses me and other Christians? Do you think we LIKE seeing the statue of Christ the Reedemer reduced to rubble or the dome of the Vatican falling off and crushing people? Why is it that our feelings and our sensibilities aren’t taken into account, if this director is so concerned about not offending people? It’s because he knows that we won’t kill him over it, because we recognize that it’s a movie. A stupid movie, a movie in poor taste, but a movie nonetheless. Muslims, on the other hand, go crazy about every little thing. By rolling over and saying “okay, I’ll go out of my way to show Islam triumphant over everything on the planet”, it just emboldens them to continue to act like psychopaths instead of growing the hell up and realizing that Islam does NOT hold a special place above all other religions, and people do NOT respect it or the thugs that run around blowing stuff up in “defense” of it.

Oh boo hoo. I hate to say it, but when it comes to broad depictions of a religion (since you’re right, not every Muslim is a violent idiot; many are quite nice, in fact), it IS an “us vs. them” situation - they’re trying to silence us and make us obey the rules of their religion that are inherently anti-Christian, anti-minority, anti-free expression, anti-art, anti-culture, anti-development, and anti-peace. Some of us are saying that we shouldn’t be doing this, while others of us are not admitting that if we were talking about any other group none of this would be in the least bit acceptable.

Wake the hell up!

I don’t think anyone here is saying that he should blow up the Kaba’a. The issue is what kind of message he is sending by blowing up all the symbols of Christianity without a second thought while leaving the monolith of Islam standing because he’s afraid he might get injured or murdered if he doesn’t. That was HIS explanation.
:clapping:

Really? How many years ago, do you suppose, that such things ‘mostly died out?’
It depends on the local. In America, maybe 100 years ago is when most of it ended. In some places, it still goes on.

Notice the word mostly. I mean MOSTLY. I do not mean completely. I do not mean totally. There is still inter-religious violence within Christianity and between Christians and other groups. However, this is not a normal event.

Maybe IF we threathened the lives of movie producers and directors too, they would not be so quick to destroy our religious landmarks too. 🙂 What is the Catholic equivalent to a fatwa… somehow an excommunication doesn’t sound so threatening expecially to a non-Catholic 😃

There really isn’t one. For some reason, we do not have an understanding in Canon law of putting a bounty on someone’s head.

I guess Jesus forgot to teach us that one. 🤷

No need to do that. Just don’t support his movie and the $'s. Thats all.

And you know what, I’m grateful we as Christians don’t have anything like this “fatwa” of the muslims.

A fatwa is like a “school bully”, and a fatwa is like a “mafia” and “gang” issue order.

**This fatwa word & action needs to be eliminated in the 21st century. **

You can’t handle it can you?

😉
Can’t handle what?

You have hijacked this thread and if you read the rules, you are in violation.

I simply asked you to start a new thread to discuss the koran, Abraham, Noah, The Biblical prophets against islam’s koran.

This thread is about:

A MOVIE: Re: The One Place on Earth Not Destroyed in '2012’

I will leave you be.

i just read this article this morning. so they don’t believe in organized religion, but they do believe in the fatwa! what scaredy cats. christians and catholics are fair game, but not judaism and islam. unbelievable!

i guess the best we can do is tell him his soul will be thrown into the lake of fire unless he repents

The article doesn’t say that he doesn’t believe organized religion exists. He simply doesn’t believe that organized religion is a good thing. Obviously he believes it exists, because he singled out icons of organized religions to (virtually) destroy.

I do not think that his understanding of the probable consequences of a fatwa being declared against him to be cowardice. It’s simply good sense. It would be one thing if his purpose was to rebel against or insult religion, but it’s not. His purpose is to make a movie that will entertain people, and thus make money. He’s not presenting or defending any ideals here.

So why should he put himself at risk? (shrug) I wouldn’t.

Mind you, I would have spread my destruction around a little more…destroyed New York instead of LA (but this guy already did that in ‘Day after Tomorrow,’ so I guess he couldn’t repeat himself with that one), or perhaps New Orleans–except of course Hurricane Katrina did too good a job of that in ‘real life’–or maybe, what, Chicago? However…if Chicago went, who’d care?

(shrug) It’s no big deal. It’s a movie. It is no insult to have the Vatican, the Christus and Notre Dame get exploded in it—it is a tribute to the importance these things have to humanity. They are icons and their destruction stands for the destruction of the earth and the trauma of that. If they were not as important and beloved as they are, the depiction of their destruction wouldn’t have the effect the director wants. These scenes say 'these things are important; iconic; losing them means much more than the destruction of a building."

It is a compliment.

Ignoring the Muslims is not. It says to those Muslims…‘the world is being destroyed, and yeah, you are dying along with everybody else, but nobody cares, and you aren’t important enough to risk my life to show that you may be important, or even worth mentioning.’

Anyway, that’s my take.

Diana, understanding that the day someone makes a ‘word ending disaster movie’ that features the destruction of Salt Lake City is the day we have, by George, ARRIVED!!!

Movies are aimed at their target audiences. Few muslims will see this movie and fewer Christians will recognize what’s being destroyed if Mohamed’s tomb is destroyed.

Were many Hindu or Buddhist shrines destroyed in the movie?

I have a better idea. If all Christians quit pandering to these Hollywood types totally. no more ticket sales, no more People magazine, no more E news. Kick them right in the pocketbook. THEN they will repent

I understand that it’s not a very good movie anyway. Is it worth a thread on CAF?
