Well, if a degree in religion is not required, then why don’t you find the answer.

The question is off topic, and I have been trying to bring people back to the question before us.

You had an Augustinan fiasco before, and had us looking for a reference, and when faced with it, you backed down.

Back to the thread.

I am presuming that because of the title of this thread that many different beliefs of Augustine would be open to question; and the purpose of me asking here like this is for the simple reason that I felt many here at the forum would know more about what he teaches than I do, so it is easy to pop out the questions, atleast for me. it is kind of like going into a large Walmart, and asking for someone to show me where the thumbtacks are; to save me all that time of looking around. 👍

Thankyou for setting me straight and putting me in my place; now I don’t feel so lost anymore. You have shown such kindness and benevolence. I hardly know what to say. 🤷

Okay here is your reference, and I would like an honorary S.T.D. as a reward.

St. Augustine: “I should not believe the Gospel unless I were impelled thereto by the authority of the Catholic Church”
Contra ep. fundament., c.5

Hello Protestant101,

My first post that provided the quote was offered with the source… online version for you to read… Click the link and you are there…
My favorite quote from St Augustine is below… I use it when I talk with people who also feel Augustine was Protestant… 😃

For my part, I should not believe the gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church. (St Augustine) http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/1405.htm
A Protestant would never say the above… 👍

Thankyou; I hereby confer upon you, by the “authority” vested in me, the honorary degree of “STD” which I presume means “Standard Textbook Dude” May God bless you, and keep you, and make His face shine upon you. 🙂
STD can mean lots of things, none of which I want. S.T.D. is different and is understood in Catholic circles as Doctorate in Sacred Theology.

pax tecum

LOL. I apologize; I had no idea. No offense was intended. I thought “S.T.D.” was just some kind of humor I didn’t get right…🙂
