I’m sorry these whackadoodles have reached your country.

I see it as a repackaging of the One World order conspiracy theory.

Somehow the Jews or the Zionists also get the blame.

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Croatia, Europe. They organize protests against coronavirus measures, have online groups where they share conspiracy theories and people join those groups.
Some politicians who sit in parliament give public support to it and support rebellion. Such things do not remain “only on the internet”. Also some scientists, doctors, epidemiologists. They spread conspiracy theories about vaccinations, coronavirus and masks to the extent that people actually apply it.
And precisely because non-compliance with measures against coronavirus we have biggest numbers ever.
Our health care system is falling apart.
Even attendants who have to ensure compliance are not complying with the measures and say “it is lie”.
One of our MPs from the beginning says that the coronavirus is a scam, that the elderly will die anyway and that there is nothing to worry about. We are a small country and there are too many people who believe in it.
That sounds rather concerning. Thanks for sharing.
While I’m not in favor of banning speech or ideas, it sounds like your government and people have not been convincing about where these people are in error. If there an underlying distrust of government there?

Wasn’t there some conspiracy theory in the 80s about a ring of pedophilic satanists?

Lots of innocent people went to jail over charges of child molestation.

The QAnon can be dismissed as some nut job’s delusion but it can result in people getting hurt or falsely accused.

Yes, a lot of mistrust. Mostly because of corruption and the bias of the judiciary. It all started when we won the war for independence from Yugoslavia. A lot of public companies were robbed then by some minor politicians. Many communists are still in power today, and the same people have been on the political scene for the last 30 years.

Don’t get me wrong, not everything is bad here but people do not believe in many things they should. People do not change what they can.
Government is officially accepting coronavirus as real threat but nation with part of politicians and part of scientists don’t. Our president compares coronavirus with caries.
During lockdown people were fined with more than 1,000 euros or xy days in prison. Recently, some informations leaked, as well as pictures and videos, in which ministers, many politicians and the rich are having parties in the mayor’s private club… During that same lockdown where people were fined because they went in their own yard in some village. The president also came in club several times.
So many people do not trust the authorities. Every week a new affair arises and people are sick of it but that doesn’t justify putting others in danger.

A lot of the replies here are rather uncharitable…

Yes, there was. I assume you are talking about in the United States. We had a similar thing recently in the UK, mostly just about paedophiles, but with some Satanic stuff thrown in for good measure. One of the alleged paedophile Satanists was the former prime minster Edward Heath. The police actually took the whole thing quite seriously to the extent that the chief constable of Wiltshire made a televised appeal outside Heath’s house asking people to come forward if they had been sexually abused by him. Somebody came forward with purported evidence that Heath had murdered children on his yacht and thrown the bodies overboard.

Thankfully, I guess, Heath was dead by this point. However, others were less fortunate, notably the former chief of the defence staff and decorated D-Day veteran Field Marshal The Lord Bramall, who had to wait over 10 months before being told that he wouldn’t be charged, during which period his wife died not knowing that her husband had been exonerated. A lot of it was dreamed up by a guy called Carl Beech, who claimed that there was a paedophile ring including the prime minister, the home secretary, a couple of other MPs, the heads of MI6 and MI5, the American ambassador, at least five military officers (including two field marshals and a four-star general), members of the Saudi royal family, and the TV presenter Jimmy Savile. Astonishingly, the police did not immediately reach the conclusion that he had made the whole thing up. Other far-fetched allegations have been made by a woman called Esther Baker, who accused a Liberal Democrat MP, John Hemming, as well as vaguely described ring comprising other MPs, peers of the realm, judges, and police officers. Again, she has been taken remarkably seriously to the extent of being named a “core participant” in a public inquiry. Both Beech and (even more so) Baker have significant numbers of online supporters who continue to promote their allegations even after they have been comprehensively disproven.

This is a really interesting time to be alive. Impossible to know what’s true and what’s not. Kinda fun! 😉

I had never heard of it until today. Whether it has spread into Canada I don’t know but will watch for news of it. I’m always up for a good movement. 😁

I’m getting ready to go vote and doing some research on my local races. I just found out that both of my local Republican candidates (state house and state senate) are QAnon adherents

Did you read that on their websites?

There are sources, namely the Senate Intelligence Committee, led by republicans, which determined that Russia interfered in the 2016 election
This is part of the disinformation. I didn’t say that Russia didn’t try to interfere in the 2016. I spoke of the hoax that the trump campaign participated in conspiracy collusion. It was a lie all along. The real collusion was Clinton receiving and paying for Russian false information about Trump.

I just watched an interview where they stat Q anon is a global paedophile ring and God put Trump as president to stop it.

The Senate report also said that members of the Trump team were in contact with Russian intelligence officers and were spreading the same misinformation as the Russians.

Not sure how that can’t be construed as collusion.

Don’t forget that Fusion initially started the dossier at the request of WFB a conservative group. Let’s also not forget that some of the info in the dossier was accurate and that members of the Trump team were in secret contact with Russian officials.

So, the hoax that people speak of really wasn’t much of a hoax, but verified information by US intelligence, Mueller, and the Senate committee.

They were probably in contact with other foreign individuals. Why is it that if Trump has contact with a Russian its collusion, but if Clinton does it it’s opposition research?
The Mueller Report found no evidence of conspiracy collusion. No collusion.

Nothing in the dossier is supported by facts. Let’s remember that it was the Obama administration that used the Clinton-Russian Dossier in the FISA court. It was the Obama administration that allowed Russia to interfere in the election.

No. It was a hoax, pure and simple. The real collusion with the Russians was done by Clinton and the DNC

It was the FBI who obtained 4 FISA warrants, not the Obama administration.

Also need to remember that it was many members of Trump’s team who ultimately plead guilty or were convicted of the crimes. Lets not forget where the illegal activities were actually taking place.
