And lots of people didn’t believe the stories about Jeffrey Epst**n…until they did. I’m just saying, anything is possible in this world. Thankfully, we are not to be of it.

These views center around the idea that a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles—mainly consisting of what they see as elitist Democrats, politicians, journalists, entertainment moguls and other institutional figures—have long controlled much of the so-called “deep state” government
One of the figures they accused of this was Pope Francis. I think that’s enough reason why no self-respecting Catholic should buy into QAnon.

My understanding of this case is that this QAnon is not necessarily good.

They have some knowledge, as if they were themselves in a secret circles, but at the same time they spread a lot of disinformation to people who are just hungry for the thrill of learning the “secret truth”.

This mixing of truth and lies makes me think that this is a movement specially set up to manipulate conspiracy environments.
I often think it is likely some kind of mental disorder that has not yet been identified by science.
That’s because the suspicion that there are some secret societies / forces trying to rule from outside the public is by no means a mental disease. Some people have always tried to take power over others – this is how sinful humanity works. I think there’s enough weird stuff around US to make some more susceptible to suspicion people believe that there are secret circles of influence, satanistic groups and groups of sexual deviants that want to keep their deeds in secret.

I think it’s the sign of mental numbness if we think that “literally everything is fine” and “there was nothing ever hidden from us”.

I don’t think one can be a healthy Catholic while believing in (or even regularly thinking about) that stuff.

And some people have always been obsessed with thinking they’re some kind of detective who’s privy to secret or special knowledge that no one else has, and have become obsessed with tracking down more special knowledge and presenting themselves as crusading heroes who know things other people don’t.

Sorry, but I’ve dealt with people who got way into the conspiracy bag. They weren’t normal and they didn’t seem well.

One can realize that there are probably some hidden scandals in the world without seeing the scandals as a huge, national or international, Illuminati-type conspiracy to spread disinformation. Claiming that those who don’t go along with the latest conspiracy theory are numb sheep who pretend everything is fine is an exaggeration.

Not sure what might be unhealthy for a logically thinking person to come to certain suspicions. It is rather that dealing with these things is just a waste of time.

A time that we could devote to prayer, helping others and striving for holiness.

Who’s claiming that? Sorry I don’t understand.

You suggested it in the last few lines of your post to which I replied. If that’s not what you meant to say, then fine, but that’s how your post came off.

You’re right in that these things are a complete waste of time. We know we must try to guard our senses and our imagination. When we think and read about qanon-like stuff, it’s easy to find sordid details that regardless if they’re true or not, they probably do more harm than good to one’s soul. That’s what I was referring to when I considered it “unhealthy”. But of course, just your reason is enough.

Sorry but you’re putting your words in my mouth dear @Tis_Bearself
I never said that “those who don’t go along with the latest conspiracy theory are numb sheep who pretend everything is fine” :
those who don’t go along with the latest conspiracy theory are numb sheep who pretend everything is fine
I said that:
I think it’s the sign of mental numbness if we think that “literally everything is fine” and “there was nothing ever hidden from us”.
Tell me where I said about believing in latest conspiracy? Where did I say about “numb sheeps”?
It’s terrible how you approach the person you are talking to. I was talking about numbing the mind so much that we don’t want to hear anything that doesn’t match our vision of reality.

I agree, I even think that for more susceptible people, being occupied with such things distracts them from really important things. I also think there are some vulnerable, dear persons that might been led to almost paranoid states by this stuff.

It’s okay to be skeptical of authority and to question what their motives may be, but a lot of major conspiracy theories can be disproven by common sense. To use the lizardmen as an example, if every world leader was a lizard then inevitably one of them would slip up in public.

The Paparazzi already jump on any opportunity to capture a celebrity wardrobe malfunction; I somehow doubt they’d suddenly become about respecting privacy if someone’s human costume got snagged on the sidewalk.

The QAnon stuff is a giant amount of garbage. I’d encourage anyone to consider the start of the QAnon conspiracy- 4chan, an anonymous website image board (basically a forum) full of racism, anti-semitism, conspiracy theories, pornography, death videos, and child pornography. People will make things up to screw with others on there, but the fact that this conspiracy has taken off and is somewhat mainstream ensures it will stick around because somebody is making a buck off of it. This is a classic example of “don’t trust everything you read online”.

I want to point out that buying into a pretty much baseless conspiracy theory does not mean you’re being brainwashed. It may mean you’re making bad decisions, though.
But all that stuff being called Q, I don’t know how accurate that is. I thought Q was mainly an anonymous person on a message board acting like they had insider info and was dropping cryptic messages about plans the future or whatever.
But the description you offer…well, I guess that kinda makes sense. Since we found out about Epstein and his pals, who were having relations with minors, and then thinking about wanting on-demand abortion…these things can seem pretty satanic. If you mean these folks literally get into robes and say stuff in bad latin, I dunno about that (I mean, there are satanists out there who aren’t just the secularists who think religion need to be kept out of everything, but I’d like to think they’re rare).

Qanon is a bizarre pro-Trump cult movement. I wish I was surprised people buy into that garbage, but sadly, a lack of critical thinking skills and paranoid ideation is all too common these days.

This is not directly related to QAnon but I’d like to share it:

It’s a long, documentary style investigation about a similar case. Long, but worth the watch.
