Hello prodigalson 21. My quest on this forum is to understand Christianity not Athieism. But the title piqued my interest. Although “utterly illogical” poses for me a dilemma.
Are there not Christians that believe
  1. A snake spoke to Eve
  2. Eve was made from Adam’s ribs
  3. The world is 6000 yrs. old
  4. Noah packed all the worlds animals (in pairs or larger numbers) in a boat.
  5. Moses saw a non consuming burning bush
  6. A virgin birth
  7. rising from the dead
" utterly evil" is unfair. I have Athiest friends that I have trusted everything including my life and will continue to do so. People, nations, and societies of faith have done very, very bad things both historically and recently. But I would never condemn someone for the actions of others.
And for the right price, these so called friends of yours will sell you up the river in a heartbeat if they knew they could get away with out you or others finding out because they feel they have nobody to be accountable for in the end. Case in point with people that win the lottery, families turning on one another including to the point of murder just to get at the money…

There is some debate along the actual age of the world, we have scripture that tells us Gods time is not mans time, so there is some room for interpretation there. The snake was the devil that happened to take that form, doesn’t really matter if it’s figurative or literal, the message and story remains the same. The rib, we are already using stem cells to create body parts, doesn’t seem to far out to me there for man and woman to share genetic code. The rest, I’m taking more literal, so it’s something you just don’t want to admit to being true as it is, regardless if you believe or not, the truth is the truth.

It seems ridiculous that anyone should actually have to say this, but simply because a man doesn’t believe in the Christian god doesn’t mean he lives in a moral vacuum.

I for example, am a pacifist, and abhor all violence.

Why, you ask?

Not because I fear going to Hell, but because I believe that everyone has a right to live, just as I would expect to.

Which is more noble?

Not killing for fear of Hell, or not killing JUST because it’s the right thing to do?

Your god does not hold a monopoly on morality.

Oh, and you don’t know robsully’s friends, sir, so don’t paint them as evil.

Look at history, look at the facts, look at the numbers, they do not lie. I talk of human nature, not of principals, it is only through our principals we are shown who we are, and in your case, you do believe in something at least. Also, just FYI, your statement didn’t seem all that pacifist to me…

Hello prodigalson 12, At first I thought you were serious, but after reading your last post…well I guess I should know a joke when I see one.
The world being 6000yrs old… good one.
Adam and Eve sharing the same genetic code, having the same DNA would explain all the inbred morons that believe the world is 6000yrs old

My so-called-friends, ready to sell me out…brilliant. Every time money is put in the collection plate someone sells out their ablity to think for themselves, believing in a boat holding all the world’s animals.

A virgin birth perhaps the best, cause if you believe that, God only knows what other fairy tales you’ll swallow hook, line, and sinker.

Wait I know what other fairy tale you’ll believe… someone rising from the dead.

Ya good one hey prodigalson, isn’t it fun to have a few laughs among friends, when of coarse they are not trying to sell you out.

The point is what you believe is logical not what you believe is truthful.

Also forgot to add onto this one, being a Pagan means that you believe in the law of Karma, so you know full well what happens what happens good or bad based upon your actions will come back to you.

Where did I tell you that I believe the world is 6000 years old? Where did I tell you that adam and eves genetic code was identical? I can argue in the same manner as yourself, it would make me look very stupid in the process, just as it’s not doing so well for you here. You can make your little remarks all you want, it’s not about that, that is not how you debate anything what so ever, and it’s clear, you have no capacity to do so, so by all means, quit while you are behind or at least form some coherent argument, otherwise it’s just spouting off drivel…

No no, Sir Prodigal. Karma is a Hindu construction, which then leaked into Buddhism and Jainism.

What you could be referring to, though I know you’re not, would be the Wiccan Rule of Three, stating that the actions you perform and the energy you send will come back to you, multiplied in intensity by three. I’m not a Wiccan.

But like I said, I know that you were telling me that I believe in karma simply out of your own ignorance.

Don’t attempt to engage in a trivia battle of World Religions with me.

You’ll lose.

Also, everything you’ve posted that I’ve seen leads me to the same conclusion as robsully: that you’re either joking or horribly horribly ignorant.

My friend prodigalson12; Do not worry about looking stupid… to late. See what fun this is.

I did not realize it was a debate, please accept my apology. So if we are to debate please define the rules.

I look foward in proving my fairy tales have superior kung fu than yours.

My god is Waqu. Never heard of him/her?

Because its made up just like yours.

Are we still joking around?

I accept with information:Instead of having what is supposed to be an objective, analytical scientific reasoning, looking at “all” of the options, “all” of the probabilities, “all” angles, and “all” possiblities, they start out with a model that is complete in their minds, then try to fit the universe within it’s confines, completely ignoring anything that stands outside of those confines. When I have to listen to some speaker, teacher, etc. and find out they are athiest, my respect for the individual plummets, it’s like a college professor that has only taken one class to get his degree, his views are limited, quite limited and biased.

Waqu?

What a coincidence! The holy spirit of Waqu fills me and tells me that anyone who doesn’t believe in him and his absolute power is going to Hell.

I passed out and wrote this book earlier, and when I woke up, Waqu appeared to me and told me that it was his WORD!

It’s got some pretty crazy things in it, but Waqu inspired it, so it must be infallible and without error!

Waqu inspired me to write that rape victims must be stoned to death…

But Waqu wills it! So it must be done… With JOY!

Still waiting on a response from you guys to actually make a statement backed up with real facts, verifiable ones at that. Saying what ever you want is meaningless if it is not backed up with facts. I won’t even dignify a response to some of these simple put downs that have nothing to do with debate. P.S. I believe in my God and he has seen me through the likes of which, none of you can possibly realize. If you have something of substance, I’ll listen, if not, but out until you can come up with something tangible to discuss.

The simple fact is that it’s impossible to prove a negative. We cannot prove that “God” DOESN’T exist. But it doesn’t matter. The burden of proof falls not to us, but to you.

It’s rather like Bigfoot.

It’s not my responsibility to prove that Bigfoot doesn’t exist, as without positive proof of his existence, it’s assumed that he doesn’t. It’s the responsibility of the nutter who “saw” Bigfoot to prove that he exists.

Yeah…

Yeah…
On the contrary, the burden of proof is souly in your corner, for it was more common to believe in God then it was not through the ages. It is in fact them that are bringing something different onto the table here.

You have reduced yourself to essentially being less then a droplet of paint, at least it will be around longer while your respect, or lack therein of the human equation and soul reduces you to only a pile of chemicals destined to become worm food.

I’m taking note, how you are responding less and less to my questions. I guess it’s easier to ignore them then deal with them…
You didn’t answer my question, so I’ll repeat it: What about this universe indicates that a god is responsible for it?

The Lottery
, a great short story, which we just covered in school, I THINK, is an example of something that was ‘more common then not’, that isn’t right. Sorry in advance for any spoilers…

…Okay, anyways, in this world, each town chooses one person to stone to death via a lottery, to have a good harvest. One guy, called old Warner, always complains about people that want to end it. If you went to that world, I HOPE, you immediately would know that was wrong. Is it your place to prove to them that it is wrong? Maybe…because that’s something THAT’S ALWAYS BEEN DONE. Just because something has always been done, doesn’t mean it’s right. Wouldn’t you want to know WHY people do this weird, barbaric, ritual.

I’m not saying that Religion is the same as stoning people to death, hell no! But, saying ‘it’s always been done/more common’ isn’t a real answer.

(Sorry if I muddled/confused you/made no sense whatsoever…)

prodigalson 12, amigo, friend, buddy, give it up.

No one is biting anymore. We here at the World Wide Church of Waqu refuse to argue/debate with those who suffer from that DNA trouble I wrote about earlier.
When you show me your God I’ll show you mine.

Praise be Waqu
