Thanks. Today is the start of Ordinary Time, so I switched to green just like the priest’s vestments.

I happened to notice that CAF member @Mary888 has such a figure at the center of her avatar:An 8-point star inscribed in a circle would look more like a flat (non-perspective) cross.
I thought it looked as if they were into the enneagram, too, since that is a system to categorized people according to the temptations to which they are supposedly the most vulnerable. Is it even possible to “rip off” a symbol that Fr. Richard Rohr himself implied was some ancient Sufi thing (even though I have never heard any actual evidence to support that contention)?I wouldn’t wear it to Mass, but that’s only because I don’t tend to show up at Mass all decked out flying my metal colors. Might scare some old lady (one whose kid isn’t in a band, which around here eliminates a lot of the old ladies)
P.S. If they did rip off the Enneagram symbol and rename it, that’s lame though, get some originality.
Not the same. Theirs is 9-pointed and only has one plane of symmetry (down the center).I happened to notice that CAF member @Mary888 has such a figure at the center of her avatar:
I totally agree. I had originally meant only to say that the cross appears more naturally in an 8-pointed star, which is the quilting pattern as seen in Mary888’s avatar. To perceive a cross in a 9-pointed star is more of a stretch. Not the same. Theirs is 9-pointed and…
Amen!Well, if you don’t like it you don’t have to wear it or listen to it.
Or thinking they are, at any rate.I’m happy that there are genres of music out there bringing Christ into environments
I think we should give people more credit and emphasize that there are environments out there that are more conducive to being at peace with and close to Christ. We don’t need to water down the Truth with the flavor of the world.and to people who need him in a way that they will listen to.
if you listen to the music it is actually very Christian. The lyrics are all preaching the word of the lord and they are all devout to their faith.I think the idea that anything can be elevated to a holy or devout state simply by tacking “Christian” onto it somewhere is ludicrous.
[/quote]Metal music is Christian in name only.
First of all: The band in question are a deathcore/death metal/ white metal band. The use of shrieking is VERY, VERY limited. The vocalists in these genres mainly use low growls and gutturals, however the occasional accented scream is used. If you were to take a listen you would maybe know that.Shrieking into a mike until one’s throat is in tatters is not a Christian way to worship and does not reflect the dignity and respect due to God the Almighty Father.
. Its fine that you think that. Its your opinion and you are entitled to having such.As such, I think the “Repentagram” is a stupid, stupid idea.
That is true. That also is not the point of the symbol. It is mocking the dark side of extreme metal. It is pretty much saying: “You know that symbol that you worship, the pentagram? Well look what we did to it! We made it holy!! How strong are your false gods now?”. It also sometimes tricks non religious people into listening to the music which then will start to affect there mind in a positive way.We have the holy Cross to bring our attention to higher, better things.
by making a symbol to combat satanism we are in away trying to become more like God. This action is a step of holiness. Being willing to defend your religion like this is no small thing. I don’t see how you think we are trying to make god more like us. He is still being worshiped through these actions, whereas if we wanted him to be like us we most likely would not worship as much (in an attempt to make him seem equal). We are to become more like God, not make God more like us.
