I just composed this myself made of circles and octogons. Is it evil? Because someone told me 8 is a good number. If it is evil I will change it. I thought it can’t be evil since it’s custom made and hasn’t been through any magical usage whatsoever since I just made it.
No, they were talking about the enneagram symbol, which you see is nine-pointed and not at all like a quilt pattern…well, except for a very ambitious (or masochistic) quilter, LOL.

Mary888 I thought your symbol was a stained glass window or a kaleidoscope honestly.

As the old proverb went, “Evil to him who evil thinks”…it’s fine

Interesting choice of “logos” - the nine-pointed star is also huge in the Bahai’i faith.

By the same token…the nonagram or nine-pointed star is a symbol of achievement, completeness and also of boundaries. As a trinity of trinities, it can symbolize the utmost sacredness. It has links to nine-fold systems, such as the nine Taoist kanji (psychic centers, which are similar to the Hindu chakras) and the Enneads of ancient Egypt.

if you listen to the music it is actually very Christian. The lyrics are all preaching the word of the lord and they are all devout to their faith.
“If you bite into this dirt sandwich you’ll see it’s actually very Christian. There are Bible verses hidden in the dirt and weeds, and the person who made it was devout to their faith.”

I’m not arguing the faith of the people who wrote the music. I’m arguing that metal music is not an appropriate and respectful vehicle for Christian messages and themes.
The same can be said for any other music preaching the gospel.
No, it really can’t.
First of all: The band in question are a deathcore/death metal/ white metal band. The use of shrieking is VERY, VERY limited.
🤣🤣🤣 “It’s just a little shrieking, it still evokes inner peace and tranquility!”
The vocalists in these genres mainly use low growls and gutturals, however the occasional accented scream is used. If you were to take a listen you would maybe know that.
Not interested. I listen to music, not noise.

To get the controlled tone that these vocalists have, you must practice and devolop your voice for YEARS.
Still doesn’t make it not a dirt sandwich.
3rd: does it really matter HOW you worship the Lord?
YES. There are appropriate ways to worship the Lord. That’s Christianity 101.
I doubt God cares if you are singing, chanting like a munk, rapping, growling, writing poems, or plain praying.
If the music becomes a distraction to the point of being unable to focus on the worship and respect due to God, it’s a problem.
The members of these bands are using their GOD GIVEN talents to praise the lord in a community of people that are often times pagan, atheistic, or satanic.
Better to draw people away from those communities entirely, I should think.
They are making a stand against what is wrong.
There are better ways to make a stand.
Many CHRISTIAN metal artists have received DEATH THREATS from members of satanic bands and from the fans of those bands, yet they still do what they do.
Ok. There are better ways to make a stand.
May you remind me when the last time someone threatened you because of of your faith was?
I don’t need to be threatened with my life to effectively spread the message of Jesus in a way that people can be drawn to and understand.
Its fine that you think that. Its your opinion and you are entitled to having such.
Thank you. You as well, of course.
It is mocking the dark side of extreme metal.
Extreme metal is mostly just a “dark side”. Why not draw people away from it entirely?
It also sometimes tricks non religious people into listening to the music which then will start to affect there mind in a positive way.
Jesus never had to trick anybody in order to convert them.

by making a symbol to combat satanism we are in away trying to become more like God.
Not to any effective degree.
This action is a step of holiness.
Perhaps. There are more effective steps one can take.
I don’t see how you think we are trying to make god more like us.
Dwelling on God and harsh, ear-splitting noise are mutually exclusive. It’s a play to emotion, not to faith.
He is still being worshiped through these actions
Only superficially. People wanting to draw closer to God make the effort to find Him, not pull Him down to what makes them more comfortable.
whereas if we wanted him to be like us we most likely would not worship as much (in an attempt to make him seem equal).
No. That would just be ignoring Him.

to sum up your replies:

i’m wrong because I listen to the music that I enjoy… which according to you is awful noise and a dirt sandwich.

Your an elitist about not just music but ALSO faith and worship, and this is perfectly fine.

correct?

What you are saying is that the greatest faith of all time has to be limited by these guidelines because you don’t agree with or like how other people praise God. With the way the modern world is, its a miracle that people still worship in the first place. Putting so many limits on how people can show their faith is just going to turn people off from the religion.

I go to church. I’m getting confirmed next month (I’m so excited). I pray. I’m all in all a practicing catholic. But since I listen to this music that dosent matter?

Dude, it’s like just his opinion, maaaan. And he is entitled to it. Let him have his opinion and you go do what works for you as long as it’s not leading you into sin, which I’m not getting the sense that it is.

This thread inspired me to take a listen to “Love Through Blood” again which was nice

I just composed this myself made of circles and octogons. Is it evil?
No. It is certainly not evil. I am sorry that I gave that impression.

The reason I mentioned it is that we were discussing whether one can visualize a cross in the figure shown in the Original Post, and I wanted to say that the cross is more readily visible in the 8-pointed star, which is the shape of the quilt star. It is good.

HEY, THATS MY FAVORITE SONG!! It’s the song that inspired me to start playing guitar.

I chose St.Vladimir of Keivs. I chose him because he went from a reckless life of killing and waging war to being a devout Christian and converting almost all of his nation to the faith. I like this because it’s a good reminder that no mateer how bad of a situation you are in, you can always turn your life around with the help of God. And the guy had a Viking army which is an added bonus…

Who would have thought that you liked the same song…and that it inspired you to play the guitar.
Incredible coincidence.
Love the story of your Saint. I’ve just read it .
God writes straight with crooked lines, doesn’ t He?
All the best for your Confirmation,Charles. Let us know how it all went and be very welcome here!

Yeah that’s a really cool site. They have some cool articles.

The Enneagram and such are a hoax and Catholics should stear clear of them. Fr. Mithch Pacwa has a book on this matter and I assume you can get it on Amazon or from EWTN. I consider that hhis position is correct and in accordance with the Church’s teaching

I know you weren’t replying to me, but I’m confused as to what your trying to say. You seem to be taking both sides. May you clarify?
