I pray the rosary daily, it brings me great peace.
In May, our church began taking a statue of Mary to people’s home each week and many of us gather at that home and pray the rosary. So many folks wanted Mary to visit (she stays in the home for 1 week) that we are still doing this weekly and will probably continue for quite a while. It’s a wonderful thing.
But I have a question. We have much diversity at our church, American, Mexican, Philipino, folks from Guam, France and several other countries.
Anyhow, I notice when some of our members from other countries cross themselves each time we say the Glory Be while praying the rosary, some then kiss their crucifix and some kiss their thumbs. I have meant to ask them about this, but I keep forgetting to do so. So I was wondering if anyone here could enlighten me and explain this to me. 🙂
Thanks in advance. 🙂
No idea. Sorry if this was a pointless response, but since I started this thread I think I should respond whether or not I know about it.

Other than that, feel proud that you pray it dailey. Keeps peace and tranquility in your home and everywhere you pray it.🙂

thetruthof life… Thank you for starting this thread… I have prayed the rosary every day since you started it.

I have had several signs that I should and I finally listened.

Thank you!

You’re welcome. Expect blessings to come your way.😉

I finally remembered to ask today. The ones who do this are older and all went to catholic schools, several out of this country and some in this country. They said it was what they were taught in school and that they’ve always just done it that way.
So it seems that either way is fine according to my priest, he doesn’t cross himself but has no problem with those who do so. 🙂 And here I thought there would be some big long lengthy reason!!!
I love my rosary and love praying it. 🙂

I tell my family prior to reciting the rosary “it’s time to take a sledgehammper to satan”.

The Rosary has casued me to sin less, even venially.I usually pray it while walking/jogging…and of course before and after Mass.

I have received several signal graces via the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially shortly after my return to the Church. Very eerie. I try not to tell many people about it. Come to think of it I have ony told one Catholic friend and another non-religious/agnostic friend who strangely admires Catholicism.

**How do you do this? If you don’t invoke the Holy Spirit is it less effective? **

I haven’t had any material results from the rosary. Then again, I’m greedy and ask for a lot in prayer and I don’t really deserve anything.
Come, oh Holy Ghost fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Thy Devin Love!

I know my day goes better when I do a decade as I wake and get up before tending to the kids.

Then I do the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary of the day during our quiet time and the bigger kids and I do a decade at bedtime. The times when we slip out of this practice our house tends to be much more chaotic. So I try to make a concerted effort to do it as much as possible.

I know it has gotten me over many a hysterical hump with my foster kids’ problems. I plead with the Blessed Mother to keep her mantle over my babies as they leave me.
AS for the weapon part, that’s what Padre Pio said to his confreres in the monastery, BRING ME MY WEAPON!!! - when he needed to do his rosary.

I also follow the Roasry Workout, a getting in shape book using the rosary as a guide for timing etc, it has been a great help in that area. It’s an E book you can download if anyone is interested.

I don’t leave home without a Rosary. Powerful combination of Prayers no doubt.

I’ve seen various recitations of the Rosary. Years ago the “O Jesus” prayer wasn’t included either. Many continue without that prayer included. The kissing of the Rosary is from Latin decent I believe?

This morning this post happend to cross my mind again. The words of the OP in the original topic “more powerful than an Atomic Bomb” reminded me of Nagasaki, Japan and World War II. I thought it worth mention.

One of the very few remanants left remaining for 100’s of square miles? The Statue of the Blessed Mother Mary. Just and amazing story about this, from one of the only suvivors who was a Christian. And his was covered by the Lords hand.

Pray the Rosary daily and give it an Honest chance and it will change your life.

God Bless, GT

St. Maximilian Kolbe built a religious house in Nagasaki. Everybody told him he was nuts to build it where he built it. But because the house was so situated, it survived the atomic blast.

Im surprised there hasn’t been any anti-rosary people around. Sorry if this offends anyone or if it is offensive but generally there are individuals who try to ruin threads like this. They either do it indirectly (nicely, kind but denying everything) or in more desperate circumstances, they do it directly (offense language and total denial of everything) in an attempt so that nobody will pray it or scare people off. Well i’ll leave it to there since this thread has been pretty peaceful. Many thanks to everyone that participated and got the opportunity to share their experiences or had questions. God bless everyone.🙂

Yes, I too believe that the rosary is the most powerful weapon we have against the Devil. As a
Apostolate of OUR LADY not only do I say three rosarys a day ,I hand out brown scapulars,
tell people how important it is that we should say the rosary. I also say many prays for the
people that have fallen away from GOD.You and I know that if people don,t change and devote
or time to the rosary that worest thing are going too happen. It,s bad often now, some of the
things are happing wars, abortions, and familys are not together ect. Jesus is allowing his
mother Mary to help us too change, but the people worry more about material things than
there salvation of there soul.

The Holy Spirit is invoked when we cross our selves and pray “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” - more than that is nice, but not necessary.

But, great thread! The rosary has been a long-loved spiritual weapon of mine for many years, and I’ve had many prayers answered through the use of it. It remains my favorite way to pray even now.

Hello, I hope that you receive my first letter, telling you, also how important it is that we
devote ourself and why.I say the rosary three times daily, even when Iam walking down
the street and I wear a cross outside my shirt too let people know that I,am truely
devote too JESUS AND MARY,and how are LADY is telling us to change,or worst things
are going too happen, because people are worry more about material things than there
saving there soul,Even her son JESUS said,s, why aren,t people listhing too my mother MARY, who I sent too save them.

I have been researching the events at Fatima for the past several weeks, and I came across this somewhat related miracle today. This is incredible. I have been trying to find a professional source which reports on this miracle, maybe something on the alleged scientific examinations. I haven’t found anything, only skeptical sites:

Can someone provide me with a credible source on this miracle?

How about the Vatican? Not professional enough?

Miracles go on and on and on. Chance? Hang around a few more years and pay close attention. I’m postive you will change your thinking. The Holy Ghost will change your thinking. Many believe we never landed on the Moon also?

Keep your mind open and continue down the path of learning. The answers you seek will come to you. Though maybe not in the way you expect them to.

The miracle of Fatima is so important Pope John Paul II referred to it as Verse 12:1 in the book of Revelations.

When you say “proof”. The Vatican does investigate these apparitions. These are not just assumed and given the “sign of the cross” and thus become fact. The Vatican assigns teams of professionals and reseachers. And you best believe they are more skepticle than one might expect. They deal with tons of false hoax’s. They have debunked “weeping statues” and tend to take a dim view of hoaxed visions. They are very, very cautious about authenticating events as genuine miracles. The most recent to come to mind is Medjugorje and here the apparition of the Blessed Mother speaking. This is being researched as I type.

This began in 1981 which two apparitions when the second time the appartion spoke and said; “I am the Blessed Virgin Mary” and it is not confirmed by the Vatican yet. Though it is being researched as of this past May.

Hey! Here’s why I do the sign of the cross during the Glory Be. I really got into the rosary when I went with a woman I met at church to nursing homes to pray with them. She always would do the Glory Be and make the sign. The reason she did it was to give the older people something that they could see (hearing was an issue with some) that could keep them on track. She said it was just something old fashioned. She also kisses her thumb because when you place your thumb over your forefinger it makes a cross. When you kiss the thumbnail you are “kissing the nail on the cross.”

Thank you so much for posting this!!! Now it makes more sense to me. 🙂

I’ve spoken of my experances with th Rosary before.

I shall say again I love that form of Catholic prayer and it seemed I was always getting told off for preferring it 😃 To bad there isn’t something like this in Paganism…
