[Hb12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, **My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, THAT WE MIGHT BE PARTAKERS OF HIS HOLINESS. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, LEST THAT WHICH IS LAME be TURNED OUT OF THE WAY; but let it rather be healed. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:] Suffering keeps the LAME from being turned out of the way and lost. We will be purified here or in purgatory, basically it’s up to us.
Those in Purgatory are those who have fallen short in Christian LOVE, AFTER BAPTISM in some way, and did not recognize or do penance in reparation for their faults. Purgatory saves no one, those in purgatory are saved already by the blood of Christ, else they would not be in purgatory, they need to be MADE perfect to enter heaven. Purgatory is a temporary state, all in purgatory will be in heaven at some point.
[2Tm2:12 If we suffer, we shall ALSO REIGN WITH HIM: if we deny him, he also will deny us:] Suffering is not a cruse, Christians are called to carry their cross daily. Suffering can not only purify the one suffering, but can also draw down God’s grace for the salvation of others on earth, Christ want’s his people to SHARE in his work of salvation. Paul tells us in [Col1:24 Who now rejoice in **MY SUFFERINGS FOR YOU, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh FOR HIS BODY’S SAKE, which is THE CHURCH:]
[Is 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and THY SIN PURGED.] Was Isaiah’s lips the problem or was it from his heart, that impurities came? The burning coal purged him of his guilt AND sin.
[Malachi3:2 But **who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for HE IS LIKE A REFINER’S FIRE, and LIKE FULLERS’ SOAP: 3 And he shall sit AS A REFINER AND PURIFIER OF SILVER: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.] The day of his coming would be the end of this age or our indiviual deaths.
[Prvbs17:3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
We need to be MADE perfect, and love is what makes one perfect, love your neighbor as yourself totally without reserve, most of us fail in this to some degree. When we were baptized God’s grace regenerated us and MADE perfect and ready for heaven. The slate is wiped clean for the holiness to see the Lord, most do not maintain that purity throughout life. Even in this life the Lord chastises to correct faults and imperfections after baptism. If we bear, offer, learn and grow from these chastisements we can grow in love and purify our soul, repair the damage of our faults, with his help and grace. We can be perfected on earth with God’s help by taking up our cross daily and dying to self, or in purgatory it is up to us, both are God’s gift of grace and great mercy.
[Jms5:20 Let him know, that **HE WHICH CONVERTH THE SINNER from the error of his way SHALL SAVE A SOUL, AND shall HIDE A MULTITUDE OF SINS.] Helping others we can repair for our faults and cover a multitude of sins.
2Pt3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which THE HEAVENS SHALL PASS AWAY WITH A GREAT NOISE, AND THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT, THE EARTH ALSO AND THE WORKS that are THEREIN SHALL BE BURNED UP. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto THE COMING OF THE DAY OF GOD, wherein THE HEAVENS BEING ON FIRE SHALL BE DISSOLVED, and THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT? 13 Nevertheless WE, ACCORDING TO HIS PROMISE, LOOK FOR NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH, WHEREIN DWELLETH RIGHTEOUSNESS. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, BE DILIGENT THAT YE MAY BE FOUND OF HIM IN PEACE, WITHOUT SPOT, AND BLAMELESS.
