The sin that cannot be forgiven

By turning people against it?

Anti-Catholics have been ‘helping’ us like that for centuries. Funny that we’re still here, while other sects come and go.

Blessed Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
The church is: all the people. Most of my family, friends and relatives are Catholic. I am trying to help.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

At the moment, I can’t remember where that is in the New Testament, but doesn’t this also speak to the fact that Christians still sin.

You should really quote the whole verse. You see John said it a little differently that what you are leading people to believe.

(1 John 1:8-10) “If we say we have no sin in us, we are deceiving ourselves and refusing to admit the truth; but if we acknowledge our sins, then God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and purify us from everything that is wrong. To say that we have never sinned is to call God a liar and to show that his word is not in us.”

Also you really should hear what John is saying in the following verse.

(1 John 3: 3 - 9) “Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ. Any one who sins at all breaks the law, because to sin is to break the law. Now you know that He appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in Him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen Him or known Him. My children do not let anyone lead you astray; to live a holy life is to be holy just as He is holy; to lead a sinful life is to belong to the Devil, since the Devil was a sinner from the beginning. It was to undo all that the Devil has done that the Son of God appeared. No one who has been begotten by God sins: because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God.”

Scripture tell us that people who know God do not sin. I know God, Jesus has called me by name. I** do not deliberately commit sin. I haven’t for over thirty years.** If I would deliberately commit a sin I would go to Hell. Now do you think there could be anything in this world worth enough to go to Hell for?
I have posted the writings of a Catholic saint who also said the same thing I have just written.
I am rather intrigued by this statement. You must be super Christian to be able to do this. So in your thirty years you have never told a lie, not even a white lie; you have never had lust in your thought; you have never coveted anything that’s not yours; you have never lost your temper and wished anybody ill; you have never steal, not even bringing back a pencil from your office; you have never dishonoured your parents or spoken harshly to them even if you were upset by them; you have never failed to give 10% of your income to charity, you have always got out of your ways to help those who were in need; you have never missed saying your prayers; you have never gossiped.

You must be better than King David who committed adultery. He must have not known God; he must have not been ightly anointed.

You even did better than the word of the Bible which says all fall short of the glory of God; and you did not.

I wish there are more Christians like you instead of the sinful and the weak ones that we see all the time in Christianity.
]
You know what is really sad? What is sad; is the fact that you are so amazed that a Christian is living a sinless life. All Christians should be living sinless lives.
Yes, all Christians should live a sinless life, no argument in that, except not all can. Christians suffer their inequity so much so it has become quite common prayer to say, “Lord, if you mark our inequities then who can stand; but we know in you there is mercy and forgiveness” or something to that effect. Look like that this is not in your prayer language at all. I really salute you, brother.
Monica 4316:
St Paul said;

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing.
Monica, I wish you had included verse 14 just to remind Thankful10 that St. Paul said what a wretch he was when he succumbed to sins despite knowing them as sins.

So let me see if I understand your position: you are pitting your will, and your intellect, and your own personal sense of righteousness, against the scholarship of two thousand years of the Church Christ founded on earth?

And claiming you are correct where the whole body of Holy Mother Church is not?

Claiming that no real Christian deliberately sins?

And all this without sin on your own part? Amazing.

Do you see this as your mission? And if so, when did it start? And how? What was the catalyzing event?

You still failed to define for me your own personal definition of sin, since you reject that of Holy Mother Church. Can you do so now?

“pitting your will, and your intellect, and your own personal sense of” righteousness
I doubt that I could pit my intellect or my personal sense of righteousness against a first year seminarian.
All I am sharing is what I have been taught by the Holy Spirit/Jesus.

I’m still wondering many things.

If your friends and family are Catholic, do you feel left out? Did they do something to hurt you?

Since you say you love The Holy Spirit, why have you turned away from His Church?

What I find helpful are the homilies of Fr. Mitch Pacwa, who explained among other parables, the whole camel-needle story. And the Ignatius Study Bibles, which taught me, “Hey, that doesn’t mean what you thought it meant.”

Lastly, how do you know you are ‘listening’ to The Holy Spirit, and not Satan, or your own human ego?

And you never did define your personal take on what is sin and what is not, and how what you are doing is ‘helping.’

Since you say you love The Holy Spirit, why have you turned away from His Church?**Well maybe it isn’t the Holy Spirit’s Church. I believe the true Church of God are those who hear the Word of the Lord, and live that Word. Those people are not found in any one church. Remember Jesus said he would show himself to those who live his Word. Jesus also said that his people would hear his voice.

I believe people should ask themselves what they are doing wrong if Jesus hasn’t spoken or shown himself to him or her. **

What I find helpful are the homilies of Fr. Mitch Pacwa, who explained among other parables, the whole camel-needle story. And the Ignatius Study Bibles, which taught me, “Hey, that doesn’t mean what you thought it meant.”

Lastly, how do you know you are ‘listening’ to The Holy Spirit, and not Satan, or your own human ego?**Now that is a good question. First I have been given the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Next I have been taught to love. I have been given the grace not to sin. **

I believe you will find in scripture where is says you can judge by the fruit produced.

And you never did define your personal take on what is sin and what is not, and how what you are doing is ‘helping.’
**I believe that has been answered by me. But I will give a simple answer to your question. Sin is disobeying God. ** How is what I am doing helping. That is another good question. My wife used to say that God wanted me to tell people so when the died they could not say to Jesus: “But no one ever told me.”

If I gave you an answer to that question it would only be speculation. I only do what I am doing because I was told to do so. I am nothing but a slave and do as I am told.

If a person has the Holy Spirit guiding him or her that person is saying: Yes! I am a slave of Jesus, and I love Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives that person the grace to always follow Jesus.
the Holy Spirit offers the grace. It’s our decision to cooperate with it, or not. Since we’re weak, we often don’t cooperate with it. God understands this and so offers us forgiveness.
If a person who is being led by the Holy Spirit does deliberately commit a sin that person will go to Hell. That person lied to the Holy Spirit. When a person sins they are doing what Satan wants and become slaves of Satan.
(Acts 5:1-11) The Fraud of Ananias and Sapphira
so according to you, I’m going to hell and there is no hope for me, because although I believe in God I still struggle with sin.
Monica, I am with you: I believe Holy Mother Church teaches everything correctly, that I am a sinner in need of God’s Grace (the true meaning of ‘poor in spirit’).

Let not your heart be troubled by the unhappy and condemning of the world.
🙂
I am not against the Catholic Church. I am trying to help the Church.
Thankful, I’m going to be very honest with you…

how do you know that your interpretation of Scripture is better than 2000 years of Christian teaching and the interpretation of the early Church Fathers and Saints? Not trying to be rude, but just an honest question.

I personally believe them, because they were much more knowledgeable, experienced, and closer to God than I am! To add to that, there were early Church Councils and statements by the Magisterium that I believe are infallible because Christ promised the Church would never fall… meaning it would never fall into error. Some people think the Church has failed and it’s up to them to fix it… that’s kind of what the Reformers thought, and the Mormons… well the truth is that the Church is standing strong 😃

God bless

Many people have tried to ‘help’ Holy Mother Church along the way: Caligula, Martin Luther, Henry VIII, Stalin, and Hitler.

Yet we’re still here. They’re not.

Did the great saints have holier-than-thou attitudes? St. Patrick, a particular favorite, said, “I am a sinner.”

Me, too, only a garden variety. I’m in good company, though.

No one can. I know I sound like I’m nit-picking, but I think this is something EVERYONE, no matter what type of christian that person is should keep in mind.

For me, (and I’ve seen this in other people as well) the first thing to go after Ive been doing well
(at least doing well in my mind) Is humility, then I have a habit of starting to judge people.

Humans are very clever. I think we are a narcissistic race.

It is very difficult I find.

I don’t know you so could not attempt to answer this question. I will say this though; my guess, and hope is if you do still deliberately commit sin, you fall into what Paul called the Corinthians.
(1 Corinthians 3:1-3) “Brothers, I myself was unable to speak to you as people of the Spirit; I treated you as sensual men, still infants in Christ. What I fed you with was milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it; and indeed, you are still not ready for it since you are still unspiritual. Isn’t that obvious from all the jealousy and wrangling that there is among you, from the way that you go on behaving like ordinary people? “

Thankful, I’m going to be very honest with you…

I understand what you believe. I ask everyone to honestly read the Word of God and ask Jesus/Holy Spirit to tell Him or her if what his or her church teaches is the truth. I personally believe that there isn’t a denominational church, and that includes the Catholic Church, that teaches the whole Word of God.

If one still deliberately commits sin they do not know God.

(1 John 3: 3 - 9) “Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ. Any one who sins at all breaks the law, because to sin is to break the law. Your reasoning is flawed, and I think I now see why.

WE did not defeat Satan. Jesus did. We are still weak sinful creatures in need of God’s grace.

Where there is pride, there also is Satan.

I am not against the Catholic Church. I am trying to help the Church.
If you are trying to help the Catholic Church, why not convert to the one true church that has been in existence for 2000 + years. How long has your Christian denomination been in existence, and was it started by Jesus Christ himself or an imperfect human being. Also, many Christians quote Bible Scriptures as if they are all that matters, and they interpret them to mean what ever they want depending on the circumstances. You must be careful when you interpret the Bible, remember when Jesus was fasting. in the garden, the evil one came and quoted old testament scripture to him. What this means is that anyone can quote the Bible to interpret any subject but it does not make it truth.

Go with Gods Grace!

well luckily, two years ago I did ask Jesus, and He lead me straight to the Catholic Church 🙂 in the beginning, this shocked me, because I didn’t agree with Catholicism, and was in fact a Protestant. But even despite my resistance, God kept on leading me here, and now I’m Catholic, and this is what I believe… and really not anyone could change my mind, lol, I’m very stubborn! 😛
If one still deliberately commits sin they do not know God.
so they can’t come back to Him?

I think the Catholic teaching is soo much clearer, and corresponds more with what we know of God. What the Church teaches is that if we deliberately sin, we leave grace, and leave God…but we’re always welcome to come back through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. 🙂

I do know God and I still sin… so in your eyes, I’m probably not a Christian. wow I’m glad God is the judge!

well this passage is just saying that we should strive to live holy lives, and that if we have sin in us, we’re cut off from God… which is exactly what Catholicism teaches lol. The difference between Catholic teaching and your teaching is that we believe we don’t stop sinning the instant we become Christians, and that it takes time to learn to not sin, and that if we do sin - we can always come back and be forgiven!
You are so wrong saying we’re weak. God gave us His Holy Spirit, and that made us strong, so strong that we have defeated Satan.
um we did not defeat satan… Jesus defeated satan. We are weak…it’s God who is strong. Yes we have the Holy Spirit but we still have our free will and attachment to the world, to sin, etc… that we must get rid of
First of all the Church has not taught what you believe for all those two thousand years.
the Catholic Church HAS always taught what I believe… since the beginning… for 2000 years. The Catholic Church is the Church.
Secondly I am not asking anyone to believe me. Each and everyone should to go to Jesus/Holy Spirit for all answers pertaining to God.
well I did, and now I’m Catholic 🙂 my search is over, I’m home.

God bless

When I found out that the Catholic Church was not teaching the whole truth, and in fact was teaching false doctrine I could no longer stay submitted to the Church. You see Paul put it like this: (Galatians 1:7-9) “Not that there can be more than one Good News; it is merely that some troublemakers among you want to change the Good News of Christ; and let me warn you that if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one we have already preached to you, whether it by ourselves or an angel from heaven, he is to be condemned. I am only repeating what we told you before; if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one you have already heard, he is to be condemned.”

Come on no one said man defeated Satan. Of course Jesus is the one who defeated Satan. What you should know is that Jesus has made his home in his people. Jesus defends his home, and that keeps his people safe from Satan.

well the Catholic Church preaches the exact same Gospel the Apostles did… considering they were Catholic and we got our doctrines from them, lol

the Apostles also said to hold on to everything they passed down by word OR letter… that includes Sacred Tradition

If each person who reads the Bible and trusts the Spirit to help with the correct interpretation, why are there some 38,000 Protestant denominations? You can check on the Christianity Today website for that number.

That is one thing, among many others, that lead me to know that the Catholic Church is the right one. Each Protestant denomination gets further from the truth. For example, the snake handlers have taken one or two lines in the Bible and made a whole church based on them.
