Much of the so-called bigotry you refer to is merely a stating of the facts, like the two examples above. Insults are pointless, they get us nowhere. But stating the facts is essential, even if some find it uncomfortable. Charity is all well and good, but it is not charitable to allow another to persist in their sin, and it is not Christian to allow lies to go unchallenged.

Considering the number of Muslims that I have no doubt infuriated on this board, it speaks well of them that none have sent me any hate mail.
 
Allow me to quote Blessed Pope Urban II, and what he had to say about the satanic creed of Islam:

I’m asking what that has to do with my asking for all Catholics and non Catholics here to condemn biggotry, I’m well aware there is biggotry aghinst Catholics, I’d ask non Catholics to condemn anti Catholic biggotry as well

Right, I don’t care about these stupid petty arguments on a intenet board, however the people writting things here are real people, the biggotry shown by people here is written by people who carry that biggotry around with them in real life, that is what I am concerned about, not apologists here getting offended.

I agree, there are uncalled for statements on here towards most religions. But again, my point is that these uncalled for statements are against Catholics as well.
What does defening the Church have to do with this, I’m asking you as a human being.

Again, im pointing out the difference between bigotry and defending the church.
 
We can post the facts but we should do it in a civil way without abusing the individual. As Catholics we hold ourselves to a high standard of charity. All Catholics should spend some time on the CARM forum to see what it is like to be abused. Let’s not be like them.

It’s only been 25 minutes, don’t worry, the debaters will come. Even the best post will attract opponents. And considering how blunt he is, they will probably be relatively hostile. A little charity never hurt anyone.

Did Blessed Pope Urban II use “charitable language” when condemning the Islamic menace? Did Pope Innocent III use “charitable language” when he denounced the savage Mohammedans? Did Pope St. Pius V use “charitable language” when he rallied the Europeans against the Turkish pirates?

I have no chairty left to give towards Islam, a creed responsible for more butchery than any other force on earth.

Alright, then it seems to me we have common ground, can we agrea that while Islam can and should be critiqued by honest, fair objections, as can Catholicism, or any religion, however biggotry aghinst individuals is never accecptiable

Actually, Communism is the creed responsible for more butchery than any other force on earth, but I get your meaning. And I agree with your position, but remember that now, unlike then, there is a tiny (very tiny, unfortunately) handful of moderate Muslims who are attempting, albeit poorly, to change their religion. You will encounter a few on this board. It’s best to give them the benefit of the doubt until they give you reason to do otherwise. Islam may not be deserving of any charity, but some Muslims are. Not to mention that overt hostility is likely to get you banned, and that would be unfortunate. We need more people willing to stand up to the lies.

Weather Mohammed was a pirate or not, a good or bad man is completely irrelivent, he’s dead, and Islam only exists in the minds of it’s adherants, some Muslims drill holes in children’s heads, others become doctors, raise children, a good a kind people and spend their lives with their family, giving to charity, and trying to make a good life.

I realize there are good INDIVIDUAL Muslims, and they have my sympathy. However, on a collective basis, Muslims have been like a swarm of locusts on whatever land they arrive at.

the genocide of the native Americans? Colonialization and opression of Africa, Asia, Indochina, and the Middle East?

Do any of these ring a bell? I did not say Chrstian atrocities, I asked who commited those atrocities commited by Christian nations.
