Is there anyone here who is taught by Jesus?

Is there anyone here who gets their Answers from Jesus?

Well surely. As a Catholic Christian I am taught by Jesus and my answers come from Jesus. Guaranteed, through the Holy Spirit, assured in Scripture, and for nearly 2000 unbroken years.

Do you hear His voice?

What does it sound like?
It sounds like music made visible and light made sound; like the smallest of whispers in the deepest most hidden recesses of the mind and like the thunder of a million lightning strikes that circles round a world. . .like the expanding of ripples on a pool and like the drawing in of petals on a flower. . .words that make Shakespeare seem like a hack and knowledge that makes little children wiser than Solomon. . .words to make a person cry in both joy and sorrow, joy for the glory of the Lord, sorrow for the sins we commit against Him, and then joy for the forgiveness of the Lord who pardons our iniquity and heals us. . .

And what does he teach you?

Each and every Catholic and Orthodox Christian, who receives the Holy Eucharist, is taught directly by Jesus. Each and every Catholic and Orthodox Christian who attends mass, is taught directly from scripture, hearing the very words of our Lord - in the presence of our Lord. Each and every Catholic and Orthodox Christian who spends time before the Tabernacle, or before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, is taught directly by Jesus. Each and every Catholic and Orthodox Christian who reads scripture, and who calls upon the Holy Spirit, is taught directly by God. This is but a few of the unlimited ways in which we are taught directly by Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Short answer: Yes!

In this thread, perhaps patience, understanding and Charity.

Keep on going, Tantum Ergo. Your posts are wonderful to read, and inspiring! Thank you!

And what does he teach you?
To know and love the Lord my God, with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, to pray always and unceasingly, to seek to serve Him in this world and the next, to love my neighbor as myself, He leads me in the straight and narrow path for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. . .of course, all this is a short and incomplete answer for there is so much Truth and Beauty in Christ and His Teachings that one could contemplate them 24/7 for all eternity and never reach an end; always something new, wonderful, perfect and beautiful to ponder and share.

So then since you are directly taught by the Lord, you have no need that anyone else teach you.

This is a great response. 👍 👍

You really nailed it,.

WOW and WOW
This is a copy and paste post. Asking permission of course;)

Now admitedly I was a very early reader, but if I did not have my parents (who made sure I had plenty of opportunity to read Scripture and to learn about my faith) and my teachers who helped me learn how to read, and all the other wonderful people in my life who have ‘modeled’ their lives as well on ‘living the gospel’, then how would I have ‘learned’?

IOW, yes, we do need ‘help’. We none of us live our lives in a vacuum. Others teach us, and we teach others.

If you lived on some lonely isolated settlement with a bunch of godless houligans, no Scripture, nobody to teach you about God, then God would certainly be ‘available’ for you to know, but (as the eunuch told Philip), it would be ‘hard to understand unless somebody explained it to you.’ Goodness, that’s why the apostles set out to preach the Good News to all, and why we still preach it today.

Scripture itself is footnoted. The books of the Bible, the verses and chapters (themselves a relatively ‘modern’ usage) are not meant to be taken out of context. One needs to know not just Scripture, but grammar, composition, logic, history, philosophy, etc. in order to know the ‘completeness’ of Scripture as the whole that it is.

We all have our teachers. . .our parents first, our families, our friends, our pastors, our fellow Christians. . .and we all are teachers ourselves for others.
