When Saint Paul uses the word âThe Law,â he is referring to the Mosaic Law, with all of its ordinances, ceremonies, and rituals. Christians are no longer under the Mosaic Law, they are under the Law of Christ:
1 Corinthians 9:20-21
**20To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law;
21to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. **
The Law of Christ is the perfection and fulfillment of the Mosaic Law. What is the Law of Christ?
James 2:8
8If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, âYOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,â you are doing well.
John 15:12
**12"This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. **
And by this Law we shall be judged:
James 2:12-13
**12So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.
13For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. **
And we see this judgement in action in Matthew 25:32-40
**32"All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
33and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.
34"Then the King will say to those on His right, âCome, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35âFor I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.â
37"Then the righteous will answer Him, âLord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?
38âAnd when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?
39âWhen did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?â
40"The King will answer and say to them, âTruly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.â **
And thatâs why Jesus states in Luke 10:25-28:
**25And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, âTeacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?â
26And He said to him, âWhat is written in the Law? How does it read to you?â
27And he answered, âYOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.â
28And He said to him, âYou have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE.â **
And Romans 2:6-7 states:
6who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS:
7to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;
