This is already covered in all the answers.Where was Christ’s divine nature, when Mary was carrying Him in her womb and giving birth to Him, and nurturing Him and raising Him?

I’m flattered. You like me… you really really like me!:yup:
You’re doing it again, Mike.![]()
This is from a Reformed website:Mary gave birth to A PERSON—Jesus—who is fully God, and fully Man.
.Agreed. But it was His humanity that needed the milk from her breasts, to grow in strength and wisdom [Lk. 2:40), and to learn obedience from the things He suffered (Heb. 5:8), not His deity. You’re stating the obvious and not making a new point. As to the part that humanity did not take on divinity, I already stated and emphasized that.
But now THINK about what you just said. Deity took on humanity. For what purpose??? To be born, suckled, and raised to adulthood and function on earth as deity? No, my friend, but as A MAN
If Christ’s divine nature was with Him from the moment of His conception, then Mary is the mother of that divine nature, as well, since it, too, was being carried in her womb, and when she gave birth, it, too, came forth from out of her body. This is already covered in all the answers.
to form ONE PERSON and subsistence, not as parted or separated into two persons, but one and the same Son and Only-begotten God the Word, Lord Jesus Christ; even as the prophets from earliest times spoke of him…You forgot to highlight the following:
The Son is the divine Person of the triune God who took on humanity (human nature: body soul and spirit) and was named Jesus.Jesus is a divine person who took a human nature, not a human person who took a divine nature.
Yes, but it was not only His body to which Mary gave birth - it was His whole self - his body, his soul, his spirit, and his divinity. These are now indivisibly united in Heaven, as you have pointed out - Jesus (God) is in His body, right now, while ruling over the entire Universe. The Son is the divine Person of the triune God who took on humanity (human nature: body soul and spirit) and was named Jesus.
United but not blended. They never were!Yes, but it was not only His body to which Mary gave birth - it was His whole self - his body, his soul, his spirit, and his divinity. I don’t understand the distintion your making here with respect to the topic. Please explain further.United but not blended. They never were!
Yes, two distinct natures in united he person of God the Son. The point is still that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. Mary carried God in her womb and gave birth to God the Son. That makes her His mother. Now that does not mean that Mary is the source of His divinity.I didn’t forget anything, Mike; it’s all there; the gist of Chalcedon was not simply the addition of a nature to Christ, but of the divine nature of Christ, and the nature of man, coming together to form one person.
That’s the teaching of the early Church, and one with which I agree.![]()
We all have influence and power over God; otherwise, why bother to pray? The troubling thing with this doctrine is it infers Mary has influence and control over God. This is false, yet Catholics take it to that level.
Mary is the mother of Jesus and Jesus is God.jm, "Yes, but it was not only His body to which Mary gave birth "
Perhaps the problem here is that Catholics apply a very narrow meaning of the word “birth”
The term “birth” is not limited to an instance of being born, or carried in a womb.
But it also refers to lineage. Only the human nature of Jesus connected to Mary, not His divine nature.
Birth also refers to any coming into existence or origin. As you have acknowledged Jesus’ origin did not begin with Mary. In the beginning the Word was with God and the Word was God.
The same is true for the word “mother”. Look it up in the dictionary. The troubling thing with this doctrine is it infers Mary has influence and control over God. This is false, yet Catholics take it to that level.
If Jesus is God (and if there is only one God) then yes, she is.“Mary is the mother of Jesus and Jesus is God.”
Yes! Mary is the mother of JesusBut Mary is not the mother of God!!!
Christ’s two natures resided togther in Him ‘without division, without separation’ as Chalcedon states. If that’s not total blending it’s near enough. To say otherwise is to subscribe to the roundly condemned heresy of Nestorianism.United but not blended. They never were!
This is what Mary had.jm,
We have power from God thru prayer.
