I have not read this whole thread so, if you have been asked this before, I apologize for the redundancy. Have you done any study of whether Jesus married, at Cana, not only Mary but also Martha? Such a theory has been around since at least the 19th Century. Are you familiar with it?
No William, I am not aware of that theory. The only thing I know about Martha is that she lived with Mary; I mean, she used to take care of Mary’s house while she was at her business in Magdala. But this theory could be something worthy a glance or two.

Ben: 🙂
Hi friend William M and brother in humanity Ben Masada!

I think that this theory should also be looked into for the benefit of everbody here.

I love Jesus

Thanks

Today is Ash Wednesday. Today we start looking toward the Crucifixion and Resurrection of the Lord Christ Jesus. It is a time of reflection, prayer, and try to move to more reflect Christ in ourselves. Therefore my friends I will not be back to this tread as there is a element to it that brings out a not so charitable side to me.

For my Brothers In Christ here may this season bring you Many blessing and a closer understanding of the Lord. To the rest may the the Father send forth the Holy Spirit to move upon your hearts, open your eyes, and Bless you with being able to see and except His Son our Lord Jesus the Christ.

The Catholic Encyclopedia has a weird view of homosexuality:

newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm

newadvent.org/library/docs_df75se.htm

So while they see it to be an objective disorder, a tendency, a condition, those who follow through on such tendencies/conditions are sentenced to damnation.

Basically this means that God screwed up and that for one to go with the feelings of that mistake of God’s is punishable for them and God can not be held accountable. No wonder so many Catholics either end up not being practicing or a bit on the cu-koo side. 🤷
Actually NO, It has nothing to do with God screwing up God is perfect. I am sorry to hear you talk about God that way. It shows me you are not any religion. No one would talk about God that way. Actually there are million of practicing Catholics. And as far as the cu-koo side, whatever. You can call us as many names as you want. Go for it, I can take It. As long as you call me a follower of Jesus Christ and a CHristian you can call me all the names you want. We have a choice in the world to choose good or evil. God or the devil. You have showed your choice, and we have showed ours.

It is lent today and I am heading to co-koo land as you put it to be with my Lord Jesus CHrist.

I am with the last thread, lets all as followers of Jesus CHrist shake the sand, and get back to our good Lord and Master Jesus Christ. THis is our time to suffer with him. and let him know we do remember, and we do love him. I am heading for Church to get my ashes.

Jesus Christ possess me, fill me with nothing but what you want me to think, feel, understand. Give me your grace to carry on. And above all protect me and my family. Fill me with your love, and teach me to feel love, when I feel hate. humble me Dear Lord and give all who tried to defend your great Love for us a special peace today. Amen.

To my Catholic brothers and sisters our there, Actually any Christians out there. Maybe later this week we can start a special thread for lent of prayers we either make up, or look up and we can pray together daily until Easter Sunday. It will give us the peace and Love we need from our Lord, and help us to be better people. Thank-you. Its beat this, thats for sure. God be with you.

THE WEDDING OF JESUS

Jesus was a Rabbi and here are the proofs: Matthew 23:7; John 1:38; 3:2; 20:16. The point is that a Rabbi in Israel had to be a married man. Then, according to Judaism, after the proper procedures, the Jewish prospect would undergo the ceremonial “mikveh” or immersion in waters before ordination.

After Jesus’ immersion in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, Jesus was seen during the next two days on his way to Galilee. (John 1:35,43) Then on the third day after his “mikveh” the family and friends were celebrating his wedding in Cana with Mary Magdalene.

According to the custom, the mother of the Bride would be in charge of the celebrations, but probably Mary’s parents had passed away because she used to live with her sister Martha and brother Lazarus in Bethany. I mean, they used to live with Mary who was the one well-to-do. Martha would pay her room-and-board as a maiden servant, and Lazarus… well, I think he was a loafer boy taking advantage of his rich sister. He was probably a sick man anyway.

Back to the wedding, Jesus’ mother Mary had to do the host job; and she did it quite well by giving orders around to the servants. Also, according to the custom, the Bridegroom was in charge to provide the wine, which mind you, Jesus made sure it was of the best quality. The tale of the miracle was interpolated much later to deviate the probing attention of those who have a mind of their own to find out what was really going on in Canah.

After Jesus’ wedding, you can check for yourselves, all Jesus’ come-and-goes were from and to Bethany, the home of Mary Magdalene. Then, whenever Jesus would return from his missionary campains throughout Israel, the address was Bethany. To his wife obviously, although most the time Mary Magdalene would follow Jesus as his beloved disciple. The Church later interpolated John as the “beloved disciple” for the same reason to get the mind of the readers away from the thought that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene.

Do we have any evidence of a romantic approach prior or after their wedding? Of course, we do! After Jesus exorcized seven demons from Mary, she must have fallen in love with him. (Luke 8:1-3) The expression “seven demons” means the struggle that Jesus had to go through to extricate Mary from her not-so-reputable business in Magdala.

Then, in Bethany when Mary was smearing Jesus’ body with that expensive pefume, we all know, that Mary did not just throw that perfume at him from afar. Definitely not! she did smear him almost all over even in terms of massage, so much so that some of the guests thought it to be unbecoming. (Mat. 26:10-13)

Then, while everyone else would address Jesus as Rabbi, Mary would call him “Rabboni,” a colloquial term used as an expression of love, especially by a Rabbi’s wife. It also means “Master of my suffering,” as Rachel named her son Benoni before she died from child birth. (Gen. 35:18)

In another occasion, when Mary went to the tomb area after the crucifixion, and saw the empty tomb, she never suffered more in her life. She wanted to take him away with her. (John 20:15) Then, she was crying without consolation. In the middle of her travails, she saw a man standing by and throught to be the Gardener. “Why are you crying?” the man asked. Alas! She did not identify him; it was too dark. But then Jesus tried her name the way he used to call her: “Mary…!” It’s hard to say it in writing, but Mary melted all down and exclaimed" “Raboni!”

This term “Raboni”, or Master of my sufferings, is such a solemn and love-tender expression in Hebrew and Aramaic that only seldom is used out of the frame of deep love. It was then that she jumped to hug him but Jesus, probably all in bandages, forbade her to cause him any unnecessary pain. He would meet her later at more propitious circumstances. (John 20:17)

Then, after some apparitions to the disciples, Jesus said goodbye and left the company. From then on, the names of these three peoples were never mentioned again; Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Joseph of Arimathea. Jesus yes, but only in connection with his teachings by the Nazarenes, a Jewish Sect founded by his Apostles. Joseph had to go along because if he had stayed, he would probably be crucified for having cheated on Pilate regarding Jesus who was not dead when he took him off the cross.

Today, there are three speculations about their whereabouts. The first is that they settled down incognito in Talpiot, a small town not too far south of Jerusalem, where some people have claimed to have found out the graves of Yeshua, Miriam and Joseph. I went there personally but just to be told that the area could not be explored or visited by order of the local Meier for being under an Apartment building.

The second speculation is that they left Israel in the direction of Cashmere, India, where a Russian Archaeologist is claimed to have found the graves of Yeshua, Miriam and Joseph under the sign of the shield of David.

And the third, speculation is the one of the Da Vinci Code, that the three went to Europe and settled down in the Southern part of France in a small village. And that Mary gave birth to a daughter, who eventually got married into the Merovingian nobility.

Whatever happened after Jesus said goodbye to his disciples, I don’t endorse anything that has been speculated. My point is only to verify the truth about Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene. If that’s true without the shadow of a doubt, we have only to be joyful that Jesus fulfilled also the commandment to get married and father children. Besides, a married man only adds to his honour for being so.

Ben:
Ben, What are you talking about here “we have only to be joyful that Jesus fulfilled also the commandment to get married and father children” WHAT COMMANDMENT are you talking about . and I did not see a question it is just your rambling.

Wondering, if I were to admit that I was a woman, would that mean that you would take me less seriously since obviously women are so looked down upon that even Jesus could not be considered to have married one? If so, disregard question and continue to call me sir. 😉

I am not confused. I am unsure how you have arrived at such a conclusion. I know what I know and all the rest is open for debate and speculations. By the way, I do not follow others. I would like to, but there really is no one in this world in whom I feel comfortable following. Now, I will go back and re-read what you wrote. Most likely, in all honesty, if I have not bought into it, I did not find it worthy of response or it could be that since it was not directed at me (was it?), then this also might account for my not having responded.
Hi

I think women are as respectable as men; if they would not have loved one another, human race would have disappeared on the face of the earth. Women are beautiful, for all men, as the men are also graceful for women, in my opinion.

I think, if Catholic-god-Jesus had parts having little utility for him, then it would have being equally good human flesh if he would have been a woman; I see no harm in it.

How do my Catholic friends feel about it? I think they would agree with me, in my opinion.

I love Jesus and Mary

Thanks

The commandment to get married and father children. You didn’t think Jews have only ten commandments, did you? I didn’t think so. So, why the startling?

When Jesus declared that he had not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets, he spoke as a Jew and not as a Catholic. Jews have 613 commandments. Catholics have only seven Noahite laws.

paarsurrey, this is quite lovely indeed. :o I found myself reading along with this thread and from many, the attitude in which they displayed their thoughts, it came across as though to be married is a sin (even if only for Jesus, if he is to be our example… what does this then say?). Considering Mary was thought to be a virgin, jesus being married is taboo, and the priests (w/ their side exploits), oops, and let us not forget nuns, I have always viewed Catholicism to be anti family. :sad_yes:

I’ll admit I didn’t read all the posts, but it was taking to long for anyone to dispute using Scripture. My apologies if I am repeating what someone else has already said…

John 13:
23 **One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus’ side.
24 So Simon Peter nodded to him **to find out whom he meant.
25 He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him, “Master, who is it?”

The disciple Jesus loved was John.

As long as you call me a follower of Jesus Christ and a CHristian you can call me all the names you want.
The above is really amusing to be honest with you. Think about this if you will. In essence, what you have stated is the equivelant of saying “As long as you call me a follower of the day, the night” … since after all, night follows day, but it will never be LIKE day. Christians will never be LIKE Jesus because they deny the very things that Jesus taught and have chosen instead to live the example of the one who FOLLOWED Jesus, but taught something quite different. So, sure, I will call you a follower of Jesus and a christian, but this does not equate you to being LIKE Jesus if you are indeed LIKE a christian.

Do any of those who claim Jesus as their god even pay attention to what it is he said?

Matthew 5:19, 20
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 15: 7- 9
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Mark 10:18-19
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
hou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

Mark 12: 29
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

John 14: 15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14: 21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 15: 10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

Christians live their lives according to the example of Paul. Catholic christians have learned well idolotry, hypocrisy, and vain reparations. Paul’s teachings certainly followed the teachings of Jesus, but it did not promote the teachings of Jesus. There is a huge gulf seperating the two.

It is no wonder to me since some of you can not even grasp the very basics of the things Jesus taught, that you can not grasp that Jesus most likely was married.

It is no wonder to me since some of you can not even grasp the very basics of the things Jesus taught, that you can not grasp that Jesus most likely was married.
One of your supporting claims was to suggest Mary M was the disciple whom Jesus loved…

…you were wrong:

John 13:
23 One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus’ side.
24 So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.
25 He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him, “Master, who is it?”

The disciple Jesus loved was John.

Everything you mentioned is based on speculation:
Then on the third day after his “mikveh” the family and friends were celebrating his wedding in Cana with Mary Magdalene.[/qyuote]
2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
Jesus had to be invited to his own wedding.
According to the custom, the mother of the Bride would be in charge of the celebrations, …
… Jesus’ mother Mary had to do the host job; … the Bridegroom was in charge to provide the wine, which mind you, Jesus made sure it was of the best quality.
Oops, providing the best quality must have been an after thought.

9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, … the headwaiter called the bridegroom
10 and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.”
After Jesus exorcized seven demons from Mary, she must have fallen in love with him. (Luke 8:1-3) The expression “seven demons” means the struggle that Jesus had to go through to extricate Mary from her not-so-reputable business in Magdala.
And what does the legion of demons that Jesus drove out of the man and into the pigs represent? Seriously, I can’t wait to hear your colorful interpretation of that one!
in Bethany when Mary was smearing Jesus’ body with that expensive pefume, she did smear him almost all over even in terms of massage, so much so that some of the guests thought it to be unbecoming. (Mat. 26:10-13)
At the dinner table! with Simon the leper and the disciples watching!!! And all they could think of was how much the perfume cost! You’ve given new meaning to the verse:
When the disciples saw what was happening, they were furious. “That’s criminal! This could have been sold for a lot and the money handed out to the poor.”
I don’t endorse anything that has been speculated.
:rotfl:

Hi

Jesus only resusicated or revived from the unconsciousness due to injuries inflicted upon him on the Cross; when he came out from the tomb himself or with the aid of his friends; he had the same physical body as on the Cross or before. Doubting Thomas verified by putting his fingers in the wounds still fresh but recovered. Jesus also wanted to make them believe that he was not a ghost; that is why he ate fish with them, he ate with them, drank with them , slept with them, walked with them, like a normal human being . Jesus even feared like the human beings from the Jews lest they may catch him, arrest him and kill him again.

He did not want that he should be caught hold of as he had planned to go to India from Galilee where he called a meeting of his friends. From there alongwith Mary he went to India. He journeyed like a human being.

It is only an imagination of Paul and his followers that he died on Cross; paul might have had another agenda different from Jesus, in my opinion.

I love Jesus and Mary as mentioned in Quran.

Thanks
PARR , that is a very good paste or are you going to say it was yours maybe its another of your opinion

Here is what the full text says:

John 13: 21-26
When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

I am quite confused as to how this is evidence to you that the disciple was John and if it was indeed John, that paints somewhat of a queer picture does it not?

The only thing mentioned here of the beloved disciple is “Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.” Peter was inquiring who it was that would betray Jesus, not who the beloved disciple was. The reference to the beloved disciple is but a side note in this passage. So, explain to me how you saying it is John is not speculation as well? If it was indeed a “he” that was lying on another man’s breast, well…😊

Still, it does not say it was JOHN. Could have been any of them really.

I’ll admit I didn’t read all the posts, but it was taking to long for anyone to dispute using Scripture. My apologies if I am repeating what someone else has already said…

It clearly wasn’t Mary - surely Ben, out of his vast knowledge of Jewish custom of Jesus’ time, can tell us that Jesus wouldn’t have eaten Passover with Mary.

The point is it says “he” not she. Even if it were not John, it is still not a woman so it couldn’t be Mary M.
