So he says. Right. Obama would no doubt have invited him to the White House by now. The media and many in the public immediately lionized him. How could a frail old Native American be a troublemaker? Well, he has a long history of making trouble and he did it again this past weekend.

I’m glad Mr. Ruby still plans to hold a dinner for the boys, even though Phillips scorned the invitation. Phillips wants total control over the situation, and the narrative. They should just ignore him, he’s caused enough harm. “a teachable moment,” yeah right. He needs to teach himself.

So he says. Right.
He should use it as a learnable moment, if he had any character. It would not be a bad idea for the school to bring in some Native American speaker, one who is more interested in his culture than self-aggrandizing, for the purpose of seeing this from both sides. But this man is not the person for teaching anyone anything.

They already have the 14 year old Covington student’s step-grandfather, who is a tribal member and a real Viet Nam veteran, right?

Well at least the Bishop of Covington has downgraded “possible expulsions” to “what corrective actions, if any, are appropriate.”

This is something no one has said - a straw man.
I’ve seen very little reflection or condemnation from those who jumped on the Covington Boys even though it’s clear now, that they did nothing objectionable. In fact, most of what you see is people doubling down and digging to find something, anything, no matter how tenuous to justify their rage at these young men. Like the young man who said “it’s not rape if she likes it”. That young man wasn’t in the video, and no evidence that he ever attended Covington, but that is used to damn the young men at the March for Life rally.
For example, or Catholic school does not allow politically controversial attire when representing the school or the faith.
What’s controversial about wearing a MAGA hat?
And was it smiling, or smirking, or maybe trying to keep from laughing?
If it was smirking or trying to keep from laughing, so what? Sandmann didn’t invite Phillips to invade his space and bang a drum in his face. Why is he at fault if he is bemused? He didn’t yell at him, he didn’t call him names, he didn’t punch him…to my mind Sandmann showed remarkable restraint, probably more than many would have.
