They were not taunting indigenous elders. If anything, the indigenous elders were taunting them.

I guess it’s OK for Native Americans to tell white kids to go back to Europe, and that they stole their land, and get off fine as well.

Naw, I can recognize racists when I see them.

You’re going to have to take it up with these children’s school and their diocese. Up to this point, both have rightfully expressed their disappointment with our Catholic youth. The behavior of these kids does not reflect the Catholic teaching of the respect and dignity of all life.

None of this would have happened if the Native Americans had built themselves a big, beautiful wall prior to 1492 to keep all those undocumented (European) immigrants out. Too late now.

Wearing Maga hats is incompatible with wearing Catholic high school sweatshirts. Acting the way that they did, not matter how they find themselves in that situation, was wrong.
I remember my first day of high school. Our students came from all parts of the city. We were told emphatically that wearing our uniforms, we represented our school. We had better not be seen misbehaving or disrespecting anyone as we went out in public, on the street, on the buses. We were to be on our best behaviour, representing Christ, our parents and our school.

Interestingly, the Church teaches that everyone has a right to a good name, and making false accusations against someone is not honouring their good name.

The Europeans of 1492 who made their way across the Atlantic to the New World were certainly not immigrants, as we understand them today.

Why in the world was this thread closed? All we are trying to do is spare these boys from physical and mental violence which will be the result of these exaggerated and false accusations. Is that bad? Whatever happened to Pope Francis’ insistence on mercy? instead of running to the magical flag, let’s discuss! Also, let us all be restrained in our speech and try not be abrasive. Thank you.

Here is an interview with one of the parents. I agree with her.

And I do as well. Everything I saw in the video shot by the black radicals supports the student’s statement, released earlier. The fact that some students were wearing Make America Great Again hats means absolutely nothing.
Shame on those who rushed to judgement on these students. Far more shame on anyone who continues to call them bigots and racists.

Oh I’m wrong a lot too. Luckily I didn’t hear about this event until this morning. Having seen how Catholic schools prepare young men, I didn’t want to believe it.
We’re in a real war. There are those in secular society who would love the utter destruction of the Roman Catholic Church and some are in the media.
The Bishop of Covington better get in front of this, pronto, or he’s going to have a real maelstrom on his hands. Students and faculty lives are threatened, the school has even been threatened with arson.

CATHOLIC high school boys wearing MAGA hats, in Washington for a major PRO-LIFE event.
If they made the choice to stand as representatives of President Trump instead of ambassadors of Christ, they have the right to their political speech. I can say most Catholic teachers I know would not have allowed those hats, at least if they were representing the school, or any anti-Trump emblem as well. It muddies the waters. And as far as that boy just smiling, that is not the way I, as a parent see it.

There has been too much made of this incident, I agree. But I do not see a bunch of sweet innocent Catholic boys, even if the native American guy was a jerk.

Telling White people to go back to Europe is acceptable racism, therefore the DOJ will not investigate this hate crime caught on tape.
For a hate crime to exist, there has to actually be a crime. Was someone assaulted that I have not read about? In the United States, there is not a law against hate speech, thanks be to God. At least not yet.

I see Make America Great Again as meaning just that. But then I still recite the Pledge of Allegiance, too.

And I’ve worked with many high school kids, over ten years. That kid showed amazing fortitude to stand there and take that. I hope he gets a scholarship offer to an orthodox Catholic college.

My patriotism never allowed me to see American in any other way. I always thought the slogan more anti-American, but that is just me. But that is neither here or there. A red cap with that slogan has meaning. I think you would have to be obtuse not to see the link to Trump-ism.

Well, those boys have been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. They’re being held to a higher standard than the adults who confronted them. Why? Because they are Roman Catholic. And the secular media hates Roman Catholicism. I read a number of the comments on FB and elsewhere and it is pure, demonic, rage-filled and even murderous hate.
I’m not exaggerating when I say there are many people who would be happy to see Catholics dead. Their true selves come out in the comments any time there’s anything about “Catholic” on social media.

We all have been fooled by the liberal Fake News media. It was the “natives” who instigated the young men and made narratives that they were shouted at when it was not.

Yes, we have been set up to be fools by the liberal mainstream media.
