I meant the woman in the article that was quoted! And can you explain why a book of daily meditations for Muslim women has to disparage non-Muslim women?
Chapter 2.4: The believing woman and the disbelieving woman are not equal
You can be happy if you examine just one issue- the situation of the Muslim woman in the Muslim lands and the situation of the disbelieving woman in the lands of disbelief. The Muslim woman in the Muslim land is a believing woman who gives charity, fasts, prays [night prayers], observes hijab, obeys her husband, fears her Lord, is kind to her neighbours and is compassionate towards her children. So she is to be congratulated for her great reward, tranquility and contentment. The disbelieving woman in the lands of disbelief is a woman who makes a wanton display of herself; she is ignorant and foolish, a mere fashion model, a cheap and worthless product on offer in all places. She has no value, honour or religion. Compare the two situations, and you will see that you are the happiest, the most well off. Praise be to Allah, the Almighty.

It seems I am confused. I wasn’t aware that an article was being quoted.

I don’t have any problem with that book you’ve just mentioned, nor with the statement.

If you have a problem with the way God has created women, then I’m not the person to take it up with, am I?

Saudi women treated like crude and arrested for talking to men

Video description:

nakneef.blogspot.com

Religious police in Saudi Arabia arrest women for talking to men in the street. In this video… both, the woman and the man were arrested.

I was born and raised in an egyptian moderate muslim family… Now I left islam and I wish for the whole world to know that islam is evil, so from an ex-muslim who knows all whispers and whistles of islam in full depth please don’t be fooled by islam and don’t let sweet promises blind your eyes away from the real horrible face of islam.

Picture this… women are not allowed to talk or walk with men by the order of their arabian God! while in the same time Saudi’s religious police are allowed to talk, grab, touch and treat women like ****! And they had the guts to say that this barbaric act towards women was instructed by Allah to preserve women dignity!

If
Always so nice to hear the truth…

All man-made religions are “evil” or at least have evil components or wahtever… because…

they are MAN-made… and man is evil…

Don’t think man is evil? Read history… doesn’t matter what country… just read the history of any given country…

every generation has had to have its bloodshed… its atrocities… There was Nazi Germany… Before that, the French Revolution… (Devolution)… There was Stalin… i could go on and on but no point…

We were supposedto have gotten more civilized… but then there was Roe v Wade… still with us… Even after all the info on how abortion destroys women phsyically and mentally and psychologically… and destrroys everyone it touches… fathers, grandparents, etc… still we keep it legal…

It almost seems like…

like Jesus never came to us…

or like we just don’t pay Him any attention anymore…

or like we just create Him in our own ugly image…

More importantly than that, you are less likely to end up in hell…👍
who says?

according to the saints and Jesus, very few of either gender makes it to Heaven… (St Mt 7:13, 20… St. Luke 13:24…)

Dolphin,

Did you see the pyramids in Egypt? Have any pictures of churches? 🙂

My point exactly. I certainly hope dolphinlove got more out of her trip to Egypt than just the bad incident she has shared.

After all our first guide got into an argument with the Tourism police and was arrested and our group had to wait in the bus, in a designated area till the replacement guide arrived. So were we held by the police for being westerners? Did that spoil our trip to the very interesting museum?

Egypt is so much more than a bunch of badly behaved men.

I’m a man, and according to Islam, I’m smarter than a Muslim woman. Neat! :rotfl:
actually, did you know that mental retardation occurs more in males than females?

true…

(and i’ve been in enough “romantic” encounters with the opposite sex [men] to prove it :hypno::whacky:)

😃

Hi Vivianne,I had read all your posts and I am in total agreement with you.🙂

Do we know that when we visit other country,we should have understand that people who live there may have a different cultures than what we usually practice, whether it related to any religions or not.We should have broaden our judgements and never think shallow. It’s a common sense that human tends to relate things easily with what they experience to what they had read and listened. This sometimes can be both accurate and not.

Dolphin,thanks for sharing your experiences.
I certainly would like to hear more stories and pictures from you for my own judgements.🙂

As a geezer in his late 50s I was posted twice to Cairo for temp work in the embassy. I have to say, judging from what I saw there and what the permanent female personnel told me, that OP’s description of her experiences is probably not far off the track. One of my temp co-workers, an African-American woman in her 30s, asked me to be her escort on shopping runs, so it would appear that she was under a man’s protection. Local men tried to hit on her anyway. And yes, she was modestly dressed.

What I found interesting? funny? strange? was the dark brown mark that a lot of the local men had on their foreheads. At first I thought it was a birthmark, but there were too many of them for that. Then I realized that it was supposed to be a callus caused by the prayer-time prostration with the forehead to the floor. I was talking about that to one cynical Egyptian, and he told me that a lot of men darken it with shoe polish to exaggerate their piety.

For the most part, the only people who “hit on” me were shop-keepers trying to get my $$$. The for my second trip I prepared a t-shirt with Arabic printing, “Ay juz’ min ‘la’ inta mish faahim,” or, in the Egyptian dialect, “What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?” They didn’t get it.

The high point of my two trips was getting whistled at by a gaggle of high-school girls. I was wearing long khaki pants, a polo shirt, my sunglasses (it’s very bright there), and my Indy Jones hat.

Hahaha. Yeah, idioms are always hit-or-miss like that…that’s creative, though! 🙂

That is interesting. Hypocritical to say the least. I bet they are too busy polishing their foreheads to bother reading the Qur’an, which describes what piety is and that it is not what they are imitating. And probably too busy to read any Hadith also, which describe such people.

Sigh. It’s sad to see it come to that.

Sad, yes, Sister Amy, but it just shows that all religions have people who follow it and people who would like people to believe they are better at following than they are. I think most realise that someone who just looks as though they pray a lot is not necessarily someone who does pray a lot.

Booklover is right, it is easy for you to laugh while youre in a Christian envorionmnet that has Christian law enforments to protect you. In a Muslim world you wouldnt even dared to be on this forum because its a Christian forum. I am not saying America in general is Christ-like, but the fact that the laws are fair to any male-or-female you sould be very thankful for this Christian Envorionment you live in. It gives you a chance to talk to men, go out in public meet some people and ecetera. In Saudi Arabia or other muslim countires you don`t even have the chance to do that because they follow the Koran more then you think.

Ive just returned back from Egypt,
Welcome back dolphinlove. 🙂
Well, i met up with some fellow tourist, who, had been approached by men asking if he was interested in boy on boy action. Yes, they are so called conservative muslims who asked him this.
http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon13.gif I thought that practise is only here in SA.
And, me being a girl, was non stopped hassled, asking my friend if he wanted to sell me for camels etc, which was very insulting as to even think they could buy me!
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:16).
