In Cairo our group saw inappropriate behaviour in both the general area and the Christian area. But truly I did not see anything in dolphinlove’s post that showed anything she could have learned about Islam in Cairo. Things she learned about Egyptian men - yes.

Sadly there are a lot of statements in this thread that are assumptions and things taken out of context. It saddens me. I work with some most amazing Muslim ladies and some very bad mannered, lazy ones - but they are just typical humans - I have found the same thing working in a Christian environment, there were some people I just did not ask to do things because I knew they would not help.

I usually stay out of the Islam/Christianity debates, but I was sad to see that dolphinlove had had a horrible time in Egypt. But I don’t think her horrible time had anything to do with Islam?

I had the most wonderful time in Cairo, but I did not learn anything about Islam while I was there. That happens here, where I can ask questions and talk to people directly.

I lived across the road from a mosque for 5 months and had NO problems outside that mosque at any time.

I was born and raised in an egyptian moderate muslim family… Now I left islam and I wish for the whole world to know that islam is evil, so from an ex-muslim who knows all whispers and whistles of islam in full depth please don’t be fooled by islam and don’t let sweet promises blind your eyes away from the real horrible face of islam.

Picture this… women are not allowed to talk or walk with men by the order of their arabian God! while in the same time Saudi’s religious police are allowed to talk, grab, touch and treat women like ****! And they had the guts to say that this barbaric act towards women was instructed by Allah to preserve women dignity!

What’s the point of your post? I thought the point of the Non-Catholic section was to discuss rationally and with maturity other religions outside of the Catholic faith but all I have been seeing lately is religious bashing.

Ive just returned back from Egypt, actually 9 days early because of the constant hassle i received in Egypt. And in my time there, i have learnt a lot of things about Islam.
As you know, Egypt likes to maintain they are one of the easy going Islamic states in the world.
Well, this is true to certain degree. Believe me, been a Christian is not easy in that country.
From the word go, i had no interest in going to mosques etc, and they seemed to be a bit surprised by this. But the fact is, the only place that has ever seen a miracle in that country is when Mary appeared over a Church, and that is the only place i really wanted to see i Cairo.
Well, i met up with some fellow tourist, who, had been approached by men asking if he was interested in boy on boy action. Yes, they are so called conservative muslims who asked him this.
And, me being a girl, was non stopped hassled, asking my friend if he wanted to sell me for camels etc, which was very insulting as to even think they could buy me! I laughed at it more than anything, but to think this is how they offer ‘marriage’ it is scary.
After discussing with men, they think the woman should be at home looking after the family and basically breeding machines. The population of this country is growing by 1 million every 9 months, and believe me, the population is already bursting at the seams.
The men who go around saying ‘ishallah’ etc claiming to be holy men can say that in one sentence then in the next trying are been outright sleaze bags by touching inappropriately.
Anyway, this is only just the start, i will post again soon the more i remember.

they are going to take over through sheer numbers… some day… because good old “Christian” US of A is aborting 1/3 of its children… population growth not even at replacement level… Have you noticed that everywhere you go, you see almost nothing but middle-aged and old people? Who’s going to support them all? Well, no one, we are going to kill them through “assited suicide” euthanasia… make them feel they are doing the world a favor by exiting the world… (actually, we are doing oursleves a favor exiting the world… if we leave it in Christ’s good graces…)

The point is, many converts are very biased against the religion they left. What they say should be viewed critically because of their experiences, not given greater credibility because of them.

Anyway, what tomarin said is above is exactly why I am laughing. When a person converts they are not experts on the religion they apostated from. Eucharisted doesn’t know much about Islam at all. I wouldn’t expect you to take me as an authority on Christianity, for sure. But you should believe me on Islam, only because I’ve been studying it for a while.
