Also untrue.
This is lifted from another thread on this topic.
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
Once Allah’s Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) on 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).”
They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Apostle ?”
He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.”
The women asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?”
He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?” They replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.”
Is this not an authentic hadith? One explination given is that Islam teaches that women will vastly outnumber men over the course of history, ending up at 50 to 1. Is all of that false?

Which explains why some conservative Sunni Muslims are also Qur’anists - they cannot accept the contradictions of the Hadith.

Booklover is right, it is easy for you to laugh while youre in a Christian envorionmnet that has Christian law enforments to protect you. In a Muslim world you wouldnt even dared to be on this forum because its a Christian forum. I am not saying America in general is Christ-like, but the fact that the laws are fair to any male-or-female you sould be very thankful for this Christian Envorionment you live in. It gives you a chance to talk to men, go out in public meet some people and ecetera. In Saudi Arabia or other muslim countires you don`t even have the chance to do that because they follow the Koran more then you think.
One of the things that gets under my skin sometimes is people assuming that Saudis know more about the Qur’an than scholars of Islam. And when people assume that just because Saudi is probably the harshest and bizarrest interpretation of Islam, it must be the most accurate.

No, the hadith is authentic. Your interpretation of it was not correct, however, which was actually that men are less likely to end up in Hellfire. Which is not a correct interpretation from the hadith. The 50 to 1 statement is close to being true, that the number of women will exceed men so much that 50 women will be looking to 1 man as a mahram. That doesn’t mean women will outnumber men 50 to 1 really but something close to it.

But still, to say a man is less likely to go to hell isn’t a valid interpretation of the hadith which says that the “majority of dwellers of hellfire were women.” It’s first of all a kind of exaggeration, and probably not a literal truth. Also, statistically there will be more women in Paradise than men also, based on other ahadith, so I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to say men are less likely to go to Hell.

Allah says first that He doesn’t burden a soul more than it can bear, and that men and women will be judged similarly, and will be held to account for what they do.

Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

Things need to be understood in context. Your interpretation was false, and not the meaning of the hadith which you quoted. That’s why I called you out.

Fair enough.

But why is there a thought that there will be so many more women in general? The birth rates do not support it.

Welcome back dolphinlove. I started to read the thread but got tired of the muslim’s excuses for bad behavior. Or the endless - there is so much less of this or that crime in some muslim country. Well, gee - they don’t even count a lot of their crimes as crimes.

Anyway, without repeating the usual stuff - I just read your post as what you experienced. First they tell us that we don’t know any muslims, or don’t have any experiences with them, and then they tell us that we shouldn’t judge them on the poor behavior when you do have experiences. As if you cannot make up your own mind!
