They are related, stem growth is very similar. I think what we call carnations are quite a bit larger and more layered.

Wow, that is an impressive garden. I love the peaches-and-cream colored flowers in the front.Before Lent banishes flowers from our churches a quick glance at Easter last year .

I use Carnation Milk but I’ve never tried eating the flowers .I love passion fruit and the flowerIt has a really nice light scent too.
There are carnations growing in my parents garden, pink with a darker pink frill -they have an interesting perfume that reminds me of the scent of feijoa fruit .
