So now the Republicans are ignoring a restraining order from a judge and ordering the goons they’re exempting from this legislation to prevent the people from entering the Capitol building. Democratic rep. Nick Milroy was also assaulted by Capitol police when attempting to reach his office to retrieve personal effects.
So a judge orders the state house to remain open to the public and the Republicans ignore the judges ruling and close the building. The real goon wasn’t the police officer, he’s just a working stiff trying to make a dollar. The real goons are the Republicans in this affair and it’s become even more apparent with this incident.

Voters don’t elect? If the unions place the candidates. Why are they being thrown to the wolves as we speak? .:hmmm:
Unions heavily influence elections in many places. Then, when you get your candidate in, you negotiate from a *quid pro quo *advantage. It’s not about certainty, it’s about influencing election outcomes. If you don’t think unions can affect elections, I have some land in Florida I’d like to sell you.

Absolutley. They’re acting in direct violation of a judicial restraining order.

They illegally attempted to prevent him from entering the building.
Just like I said, you will bend any story to fit your point of view.

Judge orders protesters out of Wisconsin Capitol

He ordered the administration to re-open the building to the general public by 8 a.m. Monday, allowing for a permitting process limiting the times and places where rallies can be held.

Last I checked Monday was a couple of days away.

Did you watch the video? The only one who lost control was the Congressman. He is the only voice you here yelling as he forced his way past the police. Now you may blame the police, and you may expect each policeman to have an advanced law degree and know what there job is supposed to be in this evolving situation. However, police, in the real world, do the assignments that they are directed to. When we have an elite class of politicians, I guess it is too much for them to respect the working man, except in rhetoric. In reality, they have no problem acting like this congressman.

FYI - From the article:
Wisconsin Minority Leader Peter Barca, D-Kensoha, celebrates with other law makers and protesters outside of the state Capitol in Madison, Wis., Thursday, March 3, 2011, after a judge ordered the Capitol reopen to normal business hours starting Monday, March 7, 2011.: Andy Manis/AP)
Maybe police officers know more than their critics.

Northern florida?

It seems that every day the Republicans come up with some new tactic to get their way that is either threatening (e.g., sending police officers to the homes of Senate Democrats), unconstitutional (e.g., locking down the Capital, signing orders to for Police to detain missing Democrats), or downright petty (e.g., revoking parking & access to photocopiers), all the while ignoring the clear message being sent by the people of Wisconsin who overwhelmingly reject (52% oppose) their plan to “weaken” collective bargaining rights for the Unions (Rasmussen, Mar 2nd).

What’s wrong with compromise? It’s what most of the voters in Wisconsin seem to want them to do.

Yup. Here is some contribution info on Russ Feingold(D)

and here’s some on Scott Walker(R)

Unions generally support dems while business generally supports repubs. With this amount of money being thrown around it’s no wonder Unions and businesses heavily influence elections.

In a democracy, every group does what it can to influence the political process all across the political spectrum. Wall Street seeks to protects its interests as well. This is baked into the process. Informative links. Thank you.

Its kinda hard to compromise or negotiate with someone who has fled the state to avoid doing his/her sworn public duty.

I didn’t realize that the “fight or flight” mechanism was a political impulse. When the going gets tough…RUN!!!

I said “compromise” not “negotiate”. The REALITY is that if the Republicans removed the language about collective bargaining from the BUDGET REPAIR BILL, the 14 Democratic senators would return and vote on it. However, in three months the Wisconsin legislature must pass ANOTHER budget bill. The Republicans can insert the language about limiting union collective bargaining rights into that bill if they like. They might even get it passed.

I believe the right to collective bargaining is fundamental to protecting the dignity of workers. However, even if I were against it, I can still see how the current Republican tactics are not only failing, they are turning the voters of Wisconsin against them. Heavy-handed tactics always invite backlash - regardless of which political party is using them.

Wisconsin is a PURPLE state - it can go either way. Rasmussen is a conservative poll, and even they can find little support among Wisconsin voters for the Republican position on this one. So, are the Republicans evil or are they just idiots?

Hmm, abortion is a greater evil than doing away with collective bargaining, especially considering that a majority of the country does just fine without it.

So, you should ask yourself if the Democrats are evil, before you suggest that Republicans are.

Collective bargaining may include a variety of issues that cover not only wages but hiring practices, layoffs, promotions, working conditions and hours, and benefit programs. Where in Church teaching is it proclaimed that some, most, or all of these items are included in the rights of man? Obviously if Wisconsin is trying to eliminate most collective bargaining rights it is by definition not trying to eliminate them all. Again, does the Church list which ones are obligatory? You may oppose these actions because you sympathize with the unions; that’s a valid position. What’s not valid is to suggest that Wisconsin’s actions are either immoral or against Church teaching.

The progressive bishops here in the US would like for everyone to believe that the right to union representation, with collective bargaining, are a part of Church “doctrine”. Not so. What is happening in Wisc. is a case of people having the “right” to use Prudential Judgement to decide if what is happening is right, or wrong. Our good Bishops, 3/4th of them, have forgotten how to teach theology, which is the greatest part of their responsibility in order to have Catholics believe if they don’t suck up to public unions, one is committing a MORTAL sin. Not so good folk.

The progressive USCCB (whether Bishops wrote it or not, they must have approved it.) have declared in their latest attempt at infallibility that unions are a moral right. Wrong. Read their statement as a body on this and you will see they are right in the pocket of leftist organizations.

What is so moral and “right” that those represented by public union groups receive more benefits, salaries etc.than those belonging to private unions? The unions are out of hand and more powerful than the government. Hand in hand they walk with corperations to elect leftists, such as bo and his ilk into office. The Church, the unions and the government need a thorough cleansing.

For a more rational statement see Bishop Morlino of Wisc.'s take on the situation at

www.madisoncatholicherald.org/bishopscolumns/2083-column-03-04-2011.html

Now this is a man I agree with. Of course the progressives in the USCCB have undercut him.

Our good Bishops shouting for union rights should keep their noses where they belong, in their theology books.

Whereas, the taxpayers of Wisconsin are the actual employers, then let each taxpayer receive a copy of each government employee’s W-2 form, so they can know how much money each government employee gets paid and will then have some basis for the collective bargaining process.

The taxpayers of Wisconsin might even decide, when they get the information, that many of those jobs no longer to be done at all by anyone.
