The wage SCALES are public record. The actual money paid to specific individuals are highly guarded secrets and deliberately guarded by deception. We have examples of teachers, police and firefighters claiming they make much less than they are actually paid.

The deception is a national scandal.
True.

The recent election belies much of what you say. The people of Wisconsin elected the republicans they did to get the budget under control.
There are other ways of getting the budget under control that the public supports and the Unions have agreed to do. It looks to me like the people of Wisconsin are reacting to being side-swiped by the Republicans on this one. It is my understanding that during the election, the Republicans never proposed ending collective bargaining rights for public sector unions as a means of getting the budget under control. This is what the Wisconsin 14 have said, what Tom Barrett has said, and what other sources report. I believe them, because of the intensity of public opposition to this proposal.
Many businesses protect the “dignity” of their employees without collective bargaining.
And many do not. Consider the plight of farm workers for example.
And as far as polls go, a pollster can get any result he/she wishes.
Rasmussen is a conservative poll. I don’t think they were too pleased with the results they got, but reported them anyway. I give them credit for that.
Unions may have been useful (I question that) early on, but they completely run amok of late and a very low proportion of “workers” are in unions. The only people who do really well in unions are the union bosses. I would hate to think that I had to rely on someone else to bargain for my money.
Lots of unsubstantiated claims in there, but you are welcome to your personal opinions. However, if the only people who do really well in unions are the union bosses, then what’s with all this rhetoric about how union workers have cushy jobs & cushy benefits…and how they’re after your cookie! It can’t be both ways, so which is it?

How many examples of public employees being treated so badly they needed unions can you come up with?

I don’t think a union belongs in a business or sector of government if there is an honest attempt to take as good care of the employees as that entity can afford.

From the outside looking in at unions I see a bunch of people protesting to protect their own greed. I know I’m a long ways away, but from here it looks like a gimme gimme gimme attitude.

Perception is reality.
Up is down.
War is peace.
Work is Freedom.

First of all I read your original post that you deleted, so I’ll ignore the irony of your observation on my observation.

Secondly, I think it is important to know what others on the outside are thinking to better form an opinion. I think many union employees are decent people, but here in this country when I see the ones with picket signs or protesting that they may have to give a little all I see is greed.

My sympathy for union members doesn’t go much further than my sympathy for the NFL union.

I was responding to a comment made about the private sector with an example from the private sector.

Barack Obama and every Democrat Congress since Franklin Delano Roosevelt has denied federal employees collective bargaining for wages. Are they also guilty of unionbusting or that truth only when a Republican follows in the footsteps that it becomes wrong?
Hmmm. We really need to look at orgainizing the federal employees. Thanks for bring it up.👍

You would have to admit that we are seeing a case of selective outrage. Anger at Gov Walker for adopting the policies of Barrack Obama and every democrat congress for the last 80 years.

I was hoping that since you gave an example of why we needed private sector unions, you could do the same for the public sector.
The people of Wisconsin are honest, but this group of Republicans have demonstrated from the beginning a distinct tendency towards dishonestly. Listen again to Scott Walker’s 20min conversation with the phony David Koch, where he admits his primary motive was not to fix the budget but to bust the unions, where he discusses his plan to lure Democratic senators back to Wisconsin with a lie, when he admits to having considered seeding troublemakers among peaceful protesters to make them look bad. Add to that all the mean-spirited, unconstitutional, threatening, and petty proposals the Republicans in the Senate have passed against the protesters and Democratic Senators, and consider why I have no faith in this man’s integrity or the integrity of the 19 Republican Senators who support him. If this where an “honest attempt” the people of Wisconsin would be behaving very differently.
I never called them liars. I’ve listened to clips of the recording, could you give me a direct quote about the whole union busting thing, I couldn’t find it.
They’re just teachers, nurses, prison guards, and secretaries who work for a living and have already agreed to all of Walkers fiscal demands. Why take more from them? Why take away their right to collective bargain when the last collective bargaining offer they made was to sacrifice for the good of the state?
I’m none of those things and I work for a living too, are they somehow victims because they work for a living? Walkers making sure they aren’t getting the sweetheart deals they have been getting.

Let me ask you this, if unions have a right to collectively bargain, shouldn’t that come with a moral obligation to collectively reject what they do not earn?

I’ve heard of another player doing this because he had a bad season, but what I’m talking about is something like this:

nbcwashington.com/news/sports/Baseball-Player-Quits-Says-I-Dont-Deserve-12M-114712809.html?dr

Now, I know teachers don’t make 12 million. But how many union members who are worth less than what they are getting paid walk away from their jobs?

I’m like the baseball player, I like to earn my keep and I’ll offer to work more if I don’t. Collective bargaining just sounds bad to me.
Perhaps if looked at them with compassion and you might see them as I do.
I put compassion in places that deserve compassion.

I put compassion in places that deserve compassion.
Compassion isn’t earned or deserved. It’s a gift. It speaks to the one with compassion, not the recipients of compassion.

For example, God’s goodness is what makes Him compassionate towards us.

Nonsense! You are sounding like a conspiracy theorist.

Do we give gifts to those who do not deserve them?

Compassions is a desire to alleviate the suffering of another.

For example, I couldn’t afford a trip to Haiti so I sent them money out of compassion, my desire to help the suffering. Many Americans need someones compassion, but few of them actually deserve it. It’s much different than God’s compassion for us as his children he knows all of our sufferings. You know none of mine, but if I were to explain them to you I’d hope for your compassion and it would be up to you to “gift” it to me or not.

I can take you to people who look like they need compassion, but if I told you their story you might understand the reason they are where they are.

We are discussing a specific topic though, not compassion. I was told that if I looked at it with the same compassion as the other poster I might understand.

I have compassion for people based on what I know of them, not because they are a working person. But do I have compassion for those individuals, I don’t know them, how could I? Tell me their story and I’ll show them compassion. Many of them may love life and have no sufferings therefore not needing it, some make their bed and do not deserve it and some just have things happen to them out of their control and they need compassion from somone in which case I’d be more than willing to help out.

For a more personal example, my brother is a love life nothing gets me down kinda guy. If he’s suffering I wouldn’t know it so how could I show him compassion?

I don’t know for sure. But, I imagine this has been before the supreme court.🤷
When things cool down. I’ll try to look up any decisions. (That pertain to this outrage.)

In my state, the total compensation of state employees is reported. For example, if a college professor teaches in the summer he or she makes more money, and that is a matter of public record. We have a website in our state that provides this information to the public.

I have been a union member for most of my life, and I support the unions contracts, whether they be with the public or private sector… What I do not support is the Wisc dems running away to Illinois, and shirking their duty to the taxpayers of Wisc to stay and vote their minds on this bill…They took off out of state, because they were afraid the vote wouldn’t go their way…What kind of a government is this?? I’ve never heard of such a thing!!! They should have their salary frozen, and their benefits taken away until they’re ready to return and do the job the taxpayers elected them to do…If they don’t want to do their job, I’m sure someone else will…

The transparency of government salaries is basically brand new, accelerated by the scandals at Bell, California.

Just google: government salary scandals

Tons of revelations.

Brother, you should be looking to your own back yard. Your brothers there are in for worst than the Wisconsin workers.

There us nothingblocking collective bargaining for Govt workers wages other than congress and the President. So why aren’t you calling on your "brothers to match on DC? And why have you tolerated this for 70 years? Like I Said this is very, very selective outrage
