Oh snap! I know you didn’t just write that…the name says it all 😉

What Saint helps you guys with discernment?
Mine’s not a saint yet. Pope John Paul II. We have alot of similarities. For one I am on a Musical Theater Competion Team (anyone hear of the Center Stage Stars?), and I like soccer, and I have two Jewish friends at my school who are often teased with phrases such as “Jesus already came doofus!” 😦 It makes me mad that Christians would say such things and angry when I ask them to stop and they don’t. Anyway, back on subject. He’s my role model for becoming a priest.

I’m not using them as a role models to be a priest, but I’m using the ideas of St. Ignatius Loyola and St. Tomas Aquinas to live my day-to-day life. If I were to become a priest, which I am not, I’d use them as examples. Sadly, I don’t have anyone (physically) to guide me anymore. BTW, it’s the end of April… better say a wish.

Pope John Paul the Great remains the model priest in death as he was in life I can only hope many men around the world will follow his example and “Be not Afraid”

Well I was accepted and I am applying soon. Looks like I’ll be sent to Pontifical College in Columbus Ohio. Wherever God wants me I will go. I am 18 years old and currently live in New Mexico… I’m having a hard time since I am leaving my family down here. They are having some problems and it’s going to be hard leaving them since we are so close. 😦

Wow, that was totally orginal and not stolen from Fishers of Men:rolleyes:.😛

I would probably say St. Thomas Aquinas, who is also my Confirmation saint, St. Francis de Sales, and St. Augustine

On to a different subject, does anyone know anything about the Passionists? Resources and personal opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

haha paraphrased of course! but yeah I remembered hearing it somewhere and I thought it was really cool so i wrote it down 😃

CONGRATS!!!

As long as it doesn’t involve Jesuits! 😛
There is a tremendous irony that just struck me. If I continue on the path I’m on now and go into the Chicago college seminary, I’ll be in a Jesuit college! I shudder at the thought…

HAHA! I got it lucky! The seminary collage around here is run by Benidictians.

I wouldn’t be any other religious order other than the Jesuits. That’s just how awesome they are:p 😃 … however, I’m not joining the priesthood. I’ve got another calling.

LOL. Yes, strange bedfellows, indeed.

To tell the truth, it is one of the things that kept me from moving beyond high school seminary. I really wasn’t that interested in attending a school which was repeatedly marketed as being, “Just part of Loyola.” That wasn’t something I saw as attractive option, but a turn off. (If I had wanted to go to a good Jesuit school, I would have chosen Georgetown.) Plus I was seriously turning my eyes towards the potential of religious life, most notably the Franciscans, simultaneously. I was even questioned by our formations director who asked me one day in the hall (actually pulling me out of a class) as to why the survey he had us complete in Senior year indicated that I still was interested in the priesthood, but didn’t care much for Niles. I confessed, “Father, I’m a DePaul basketball fan. And Niles is part of Loyola!” He rolled his eyes and invited me to the retreat upcoming at Mundelein, anyway.

But I’ve actually had conversations about this reality with some other Quigley alumni who went on to Niles or St. Joes. They occasionally note the irony and realities of the awkward tension, too. I was heartened by one who noted that it was kind of like too many cooks in the kitchen. Two entities trying to do kind of the same thing and be the best, just from varying perspectives. Still, he continued, “I’m an Archdiocesan kid!” Way to go, guy! You get it. And I’m with you all the way.

But the Jesuits at Loyola are alright, also. You’ll get to liking them, too. Just as long as they don’t get too triumphalistic like too many of the students who attend their schools from an early age often do.

oh yea…i forgot about that! so what’s happenin’ in the future Jesuit love-life??? :ehh:
That’s not really what I meant.
I was just wondering if they were still both discerning their vocations together.
While I’m not a huge fan of dating during discernment, I don’t oppose it.
