What a neat idea for a thread.

My name is Christa. I’m an eighteen year old sophomore in college where I am studying criminal justice. I have been a Catholic since birth, and I love the Church with all of my heart.

As far as hobbies go, I’m basically a workout junkie, and love to keep active. Basketball is my favorite sport (probably because it’s the only sport I’m good at lol), and this summer, I am also working on obtaining scuba diving certification…in other words, I like to consider myself fairly adventurous. However, in my down time, I also love to write…anything and everything that’s on my mind.

I love to laugh and to make people laugh, and as long as I am doing that, I’m one happy girl.

🙂

I’m 26 and will be starting RCIA this fall, God willing.
I try to make it to Mass as often as i can.
Grew up nonreligious, but became interested in religion in early middle school.
I like country music, and i have some favorites in other genres.
I’m fairly short, definitely not average height.
I like video games, reading, writing, and i like to go on bike rides.
🙂

Where are you getting certified?

My dad runs a dive shop and I have been diving since I was 14.

HI all!

I’m a 35 year old cradle catholic single never married. I’m a physical therapist and I live with two wonderful kitties who give me lots of love. I have a good family and good friends and I’m very involved with church. I lead a pretty busy lifestyle and love to workout whenever time permits.

For a while I fought with God and almost demanded a mate lol! As the years have passed I have found peace with my single status (most of the time) and now I"m just in trust God mode. I’ve always been very independent and being alone doesn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother other single girls I know who are getting up there in age.

I aged out of the young adult group but now i’m in respect life ministry and the Emmaus group which are both wonderful and keep me busy. I encourage all singles to be active in church helping others even if sometimes we are not looked at as normal cuz we don’t have kids or are married by the other ladies. Fortunately that has been minimal in my case.

I hope everyone gets to find and embrace whatever vocation God has in mind for us 🙂

Amen. Same for single guys; get into some service with the Church, says I. As single folks, we’ve got a lot we can do in that area, since we don’t have some of the other focuses and concerns that the married folk do.

True. And yet I prefer to be married.

We are called to hope. Whatever God has in mind for us, and whether it be sooner or later, it will be good, and we will be at peace. We can be at peace now, in knowing that, and knowing that we’re ok. We really are.

Let’s see:
Some of my friends are already married or at least dating. Meanwhile, I don’t get to do these things.

I am in the same boat as you (a close friend got married just this weekend) and while I am content with my life and being single. It still would be nice to have someone.

Hi, I’m Lotus. Male, 24, active in my parish, single, looking. Very into music and sports cars/motorsports. In Chicago, also known as the Kingdom of Rahm.

Wow this is an old thread. I’m still single at 41. Happy as a single but it would be nice as someone else stated to have someone else in the picture. Doesn’t look like God’s plan for me though so at present I keep myself busy and enjoy the life I have.

I am beginning to think this may be the path I am being called to. Sometimes our lives just evolve at different rates though. There was a time when I had hope to be married by now, but being what I have been through and experiencing what I have experienced I am quite content right where I am at. God knows best what we need, and sometimes are wants are put on hold so our needs can be tended to first.

The vineyard of the Lord is vast and needs tending in a variety of different ways. I just hope that I can bring a fruitful existence to His vineyard wherever He may call me.

Ite in pace,
Joshua C.

Hi everyone,

Thought I’d just say hello. I’m a 20 year old male who tries daily to further his understanding of the Catholicism and seeks what God has planned for him. I look forward to meeting similar-aged (as well as not-so-similar aged 😉 ) people who are like-minded. God bless!

Mike

I used to feel soo jealous of other people that had boyfriends and weddings were very painful for me. Now i go to less of them because most of my peers have already gotten married. I don’t know if this is your case but it certainly was in my case. I even used to find bad things about the couple or almost wish that their relationship wouldn’t work out. The more I became aware of this horrible attitude the worse I felt.

One day I just took it to God and begged him to take this feelings from me. I realized that this jealousy was making me bitter inside even if I didn’t fully express my feelings to anyone. I even took it to confession a few times. Slowly but surely God replaced my envy with feelings of joy and happiness for the couple. I truly consider it a miracle from God because I never thought this would be the case. i still struggle with this from time to time but now it is very different and can manage it.

Again I’m not saying this is you but I thought I would sure in case it would help someone 👍 We singles need to stick together and I know it’s very hard to talk about our struggles to the majority of our friends since they are all married or have a significant other.

I wouldn’t say I got jealous as much as I got depressed when I saw my friends getting married. I used to spend a few weeks after a friend got married feeling pretty sad and lonely wondering when it would be my turn.

Howdy from Texas! :tiphat:

I’m a single male, turned 30 in March, never been married. I am currently in the Inquiry phase of entering the Secular Franciscan Order, and I cantor at my church’s Saturday evening Mass. I live the Gospel as best as I can, and am a cradle Catholic that fell away for a short time before returning to our beautiful Church and drinking deeply of the treasures therein.

:):whackadoo::takeoff:
what part of Texas? I am in the Houston area. Very active young adults groups down here.

And to someone who mentioned being to old at 29 for a young adult group. I am 31 and am right in the middle of the ages. It ranges from 21 to 39 and then there are the 40 and over singles.

Great to see the thread revived gets kind of tiring ready about all the marriages etc, when your just in a different place.

Definitely. I have a couple vocations prayers that I pray fairly regularly. It wasn’t until recently that I started looking into the priesthood.

I have dated a handful of girls but for one reason or another they just didn’t work out. After the last one I had to wonder if I had been forcing something that isn’t meant to be. So now I am just taking things slow and keeping my mind open to any possibility that God may call me to.

Admittedly, I hope that calling is to a beautiful catholic gal 😉
Good luck. I thought about becoming a sister. I realized the process of discernment doesn’t have to be just for religious but in just learning to be open to gods plans. I did become a sister but fell more deeply in love with god and because I tried I don’t have that longing in the back of mind on my vocation. I know I am not meant to be a sister and though I believe marriage is my vocation, I will wait patiently like Naomi waited for boaz… But the whole process was enlightening and has made me more comfortable in myself. I hope it makes me not only a better future wife but just a better woman.

The best advice ever got was…a some point you have to make a decision and stick to it. God will guide you either way.

Same here. This is the year of marriages and lots of babies. I use to get not depressed but envyest. would confess it over and over because I felt like everyone else had found their vocation calling yet god had forgotten about me But then I went through a broken engagement and I learned more about myself then I could imagine. I am truly at peace and the joy I feel for my friends who are getting married soon is un describable. I am so so excited for them and can’t wait to participate in their marriage ceremonies.

I may wish to be married and think that is my vocation but I have to be happy with how my life is now and all I can do right now. I can’t live in the future what it’s. It will drive me crazy and I will forget to live in the present.

Okay I think I have responded too many times. I have to get to bed as two of my friends are being ordained to the priesthood tomorrow. Whoot!😃
