three days of darkness?

It is not so much as true or false as it is about the ‘force’ of truth and authority of what you are citing.

For instance, it’s much more authoritative to quote the CCC or the Bible on a particular rule than, for instance, a quote from the diary of Sr. Lucia. I am more bound to obey the law of the Church than the words of a seer.

P.S.
I see what you mean, but I’m not saying about the ‘force’ of authority… I only mean that truth does not cease from being truth even if it’s less authoritative than other truth 🙂 you don’t have to believe it, but it can really help us… for example, many great practices in the Church are not obligatory but extremely useful such as the Rosary or Adoration.
If a person is always ready, then what’s the point of all of this?

It may be of help to you but in the context of making claims (as with Tanmara over there earlier), it would be best to know exactly how much obedience you give to each party. I mean look at the likes of Fr. Gruner. It’s not always wise to be so devoted to that which is not even binding and start dissenting from the Church.

Has anyone here heard about the three days of darkness prophesy? I read that several people received this prophesy and they are Blesseds and Saints… what it says is that there will be a chastisement for the world if we don’t all turn to God, and that is three days & nights of complete darkness and during that time the people who haven’t turned to God would die except a few that would be converted later on. Some believers will die too but they will be innocent and will be martyrs. During that time we must stay in the house and shut all the doors and windows and not look outside, not even look outside the window… and if anyone does look, they will die instantly because God’s justice is holy and He doesn’t want us to see it. There will be a lot of demons everywhere too, hurricanes of fire, earthquakes and other frightening things, and apparently, some poisonous gas that will spread everywhere so the windows should be shut and sealed in properly. We must stay at home and pray and ask for forgiveness, seek Mary’s protection, and repent of sin… it’s important to be in a state of grace… then we won’t be as frightened. Also, only a blessed candle would give light, nothing else. Apparently this is a chastisement worse than the Flood, except it’s by fire, not by water, as there would never be another great flood. After the three days and nights, th

e stars will come out and then the sun, and it will be springtime and a time of peace for the world. Apparently after this peace, evil will gain hand once more and then the antichrist will come, and then the end of the world. But some have said that the Second Coming will be during or after those 3 days.

Padre pio confirmed this prophecy. The message of Akita(approved Marian apparition) also speaks of a great chastisement worse than the deluge which is imminent. I

personally believe it will happen. There are many prophecies by saints and marian apparitions that are consistent with the 3 day prophecy. So who do you believe: MAry, mother of God and the great saints? Or a bunch of faceless randoms on a forum whose wisdom and discernment you have no information about? The point is to pray much to lessen the severity of it, and be prepared (no one knows the day or the hour). An excellent book on the subject written by Kelly Bowring, professor

Just be prepared. If you’ re in the state of grace, you’ll go to heaven. Pray for you friends and family.

Grace & Peace!

Generally on the 3 Days: it seems to me that the God who unleashes demons, punishes people for looking out a window, sends poison gas ala WWI mustard gas, and destroys the light for a period of days is not the same God that is revealed in the forgiving love of the Resurrected Jesus. The God of the Destroyed Light, the God of the Mustard Gas has much more to do with our fallen notions of what a powerful God (a God of Death) should be, and less to do with how God has revealed himself as having nothing to do with death through Jesus Christ.

Rest assured–if there is an event like the 3 Days, we ourselves will have caused it, and the God of Love and Life who desires that no one remain caught in death will have had nothing to do with it.

Under the Mercy,
Mark

All is Grace and Mercy! Deo Gratias!
How can you say God will have had nothing to do with it? The fire from heaven will come from his hand. He’s angry!! We are talking about the same God who wiped out every inhabitant of the earth except 8 in the deluge. And it has been prophesied that the world is 100 times worse now than in those days! 50 million of His children are murdered in abortion every year!! Would n’t you be angry? Yes He is a loving God. But when he punishes the earth for its sins, He doesnt muck around. Jesus although part of the Trinity is a seperate person to God the FAther. Jesus and Mary both plead to the father to appease His wrath. To ignore the side of God who wiped out the earth once before is to deny the full truth. Yes God is a forgiving God. But in order to be forgiven people must repent. And thats not happenning. God forgives people when they change (repent) and ask for forgiveness. But the world is getting more sinful each year

Who is always ready?
LOL - I’m receiving that question loud and clear on my Main Channel. - 👍
Somehow,I just can't picture myself as being too willing to give up the confessional any time soon.

The second reading at Mass today ( 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-6 )

Concerning times and seasons, brothers and sisters,
you have no need for anything to be written to you.
For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come
like a thief at night.
When people are saying, "Peace and security, "
then sudden disaster comes upon them,
like labor pains upon a pregnant woman,
and they will not escape.

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness,
for that day to overtake you like a thief.
For all of you are children of the light
and children of the day.
We are not of the night or of darkness.
Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do,
but let us stay alert and sober.

… reminded me again of fred conty’s post a few days earlier -
If a person is always ready, then what’s the point of all of this?
And even though I can’t admit to being always ready at every moment yet, it certainly seems to be the ideal we are supposed to strive for :

**2 Timothy 4:6. **

For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.

Matthew 24: 42-44

Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

There are many more references from scripture advising us to be ready… and none of us ever really knows exactly when our Blessed Lord will call us home. Being ready at all times or any time , surely would be the ultimate - in case we get called home , perhaps well in advance of any forseen apocalyptic event.

It all seems quite plausible to me. Shortening of the days, or else no one would survive. The trumpet sounding, the dead rising. Jesus ascending from the skies. The reign of peace.

I don’t think there’s anywhere near enough attention given by the modern Church to these end-of-times prophecies. Some of them are from the mouth of Christ himself.

It’s almost as if the urgency of the narrative has been lost in the immensity of time–from the time when the apostles thought they would live to see the second coming and lived in anticipation of it, through a long 2,000 years of disastrous human history, to the present, a time in which our focus is on everything but the second coming.
I totally agree with you. I am sick and tired of the lack of interest or attention to the end times. I don’t care if you are Catholic Baptist or Penticost whatever you may be, it is part of scripture. I think it will happen much sooner than most people can fathom. I hope I am right, The idea of the second coming brings me peace If it happens before my parents die all the better. It would be great to live to see Jesus come. There is no focus on the end times nor preaching on it. I think the time has come to start thinking it may be possible it is in our lifetime. I know it is all opinion, but something tells me that we are going to see something biblical happen soon. We need to be ready by being good Catholics and Christians.

I think what is important is to address the FEAR. Jesus did not give us a spirit of “fear.” Even if the three days of darkness takes place and He RENEWS the face of the earth, It will be a matter of rejoicing for the faithful. Everything that God does is for our good. “All things work out for good for those who love God.”

He is warning us on account of His great love and mercy for the faithful. He knows that He is all powerful and that in itself is terrifying. He protects us from the terror of His almighty power by hiding us and telling us to avert our eyes. He does not want to subject His little ones to seeing His wrath. Great faith and trust will be demanded during this time. It will all be a opportunity to know and experience the awesomeness of OUR FATHER, our guardian, our protector, our provider.

Fear belongs to those who are not God’s children. A child does not fear the one who is his/her protector rather rests in the security of His protection. Death and destruction are the result of our sins and their consequences. But do not fear! Jesus has conquered death and the evil one.

I myself look forward to the illumination of souls. I may see my unconfessed sins but I rejoice in the opportunity to beg for mercy and be healed. Then I can truly be secure. I have confidence that I will experience God’s great love for me which will strengthen me for whatever will lie ahead. Peace to the children of God.

Someone here mentioned this prophecy has not come from any approved seers. However, St. Maria Faustina Kawalska is certainly approved as are her writings. She does give some detail about the 3 Days of Darkness in her book Divine Mercy in My Soul. I would not take her so lightly.

Being prepared with blessed candles, etc. can do no harm. Sometimes the Church moves a little slowly. It took 13 years and a change of Bishops before the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima was declared worthy of belief. Saint Faustina’s Divine Mercy was condemned for almost 50 years, one could only imagine how much more mercy would have been obtained if it was recognized at the onset.

God Bless
I just read the diary of St. Faustina, and I am pretty sure that Jesus even told her that it wouldn’t be accepted for a period of time. I have a feeling that it was accepted at exactly the moment God wanted it to be. NOW!

I know the Diary is a long read, but I don’t remember reading about the 3 days of Darkness in her diary, but I could be mistaken.

Will it happen? who knows, it might…

when? I have no idea…

however when I think of it, I feel really afraid. 😦 what do you all think? how should we react to this prophesy?? i’ve been wondering sometimes… the reason I took it more seriously is because apparently the prophesy was also given to St Padre Pio, but does anyone know if this letter is accurate and actually from him… divinemercyinc.com/St%20Padre%20Pio%20Prophecies.htm I tend to believe the things St Padre Pio says because he was really close to God and could discern things.

Should we prepare for this just in case it happens??

thanks

Yes. Peggy Frye, the Catholic Answers Apologist for this forum wrote: Many Saints, Venerables and Blesseds have prophesied about the three days of darkness. You’ll find their names and information on the three days of darkness in the book: “Trial, Tribulation & Triumph—Before, During and After Antichrist”, by Desmond Birch. This book is an excellent resource for information on Catholic doctrine and prophecy concerning the Latter and End Times (e.g. the minor chastisement, the Age of Peace, the Major Chastisement, the Four Last Things). Marie-Julie announced the three days of darkness during which the infernal powers will be loosed and will execute all the enemies of God. "The crisis will explode suddenly; the punishments will be shared by all and will succeed one another without interruption… "( January 4, 1884).

“The three days of darkness « will be on a THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Days of the Most Holy Sacrament, of the Cross and Our Lady. . . .» three days less one night.”

I have done some research trying to find three days that meet those criteria and have come up with the following -

+++++++++++++++September 13, 2012 - Thursday

St. Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Divine Mercy Chaplet originated from a vision that St. Faustina had of an Angel, the executor of divine wrath, on the evening of September 13, 1935. In the chaplet God is entreated with the following words:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us.

Additionally -
The Fourth Eucharistic Congress closed on 9/13/1885

The Feast day of John Chrysostom (the Doctor of the Eucharist) is celebrated on September 13.

+++++++++++++++September 14, 2012 - Friday

Raising Aloft the Holy Cross or Exaltation of the Cross or Triumph of the Cross celebrating the finding of the true cross by St Helen on September 13 and its display for veneration on September 14

+++++++++++++++September 15, 2012 - Saturday

Our Lady of Sorrows Sept 15

Vatican approval for the celebration of a feast in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows was first granted to the Servite order in 1667.

By inserting the feast into the Roman Catholic calendar of saints in 1814, Pope Pius VII extended the celebration to the whole of the Latin Church. It was assigned to the third Sunday in September. In 1913, Pope Pius X moved the feast to September 15, the day after the Feast of the Cross.

What do you think? I am not attached to these dates but I have never seen any others even suggested before and wondered what anyone thought. Are there clear errors in these possibilities or does anyone else know a better choice for the three days?
Thank you!

God Bless!

Praised be Jesus in every tabernacle of the world…
I had “The Warning” back in Dec of 1999. I know that I was given this great mercy to let others know about it. I have two spiritual directors and have permission to speak about what I am going to say.

This is the first year that I have felt so strongly that 'The Warning" could occur. I have also had dreams, and specifically one dream on August 16th that gave me a date of November 1st. I have been given other dates for this year, but I have prayed that GOD would give us the warning first before other events and I also prayed that He give me a date, and I was given the date of November 1st in my August 16th dream. Whether this is the warning or not, I was given this date, and I will not take this dream lightly, so I am letting others know about it too.

I would not take my dreams so seriously accept for the fact that I had a dream in 2007 about my neighbor 5 doors down who came to me from purgatory. The thing is, I did not know that he had died. My wife is a witness that this happened to me.

I, along with my wife and my 3 children pray and go to church together as a family every Sunday, but since these dreams have taken place, we try to go to church every day.

When I speak about The Warning, I mainly tell people to prepare by; going to confession, Adoration, fasting, doing plenary indulgences and going to Mass as often as possible. I truly believe we are at a tuning point in this world. Also, let me mention, I personally, in physical form have been attacked by satan many times, but now my oldest daughter shares in that reality because she has been attacked once. So satan really hates us as a family, but I am grateful and thankful that GOD has taken a personal interest in us as a family, because I would not be able to write these things to all of you.

Mari Loli of Garabandal said that the warning would take place shortly after the “synod of Bishops” would happen. The synod of Bishops takes place on the last Sunday of October. I found this information on September 3rd, but I was given the date of November 1st in a dream I had on August 16th, making it impossible for me to know that November 1st could be a real date for the actual occurrence of the Warning!!! Here is the site info for synod of Bishops:
pdtsigns.com/The_Illumination_Sign_and_Chastisement_near.html

Even if the warning is next year or the year after, time IS short, and we need to stay vigilant preparing our individual soul for “The Warning”. I will get “The Warning” again, but I will not be unprepared as I was then. Back in Dec of 1999 when I got the warning at 2am, it lasted for 27 minutes. I was shown that I was going to hell. The very next day I went directly to confession for I had not gone to confession for over 30 years, and I was shaking like a leaf with fear during that confession. I remember it well like it was yesterday.

PREPARE!!! THE WARNING IS REAL!!!

Jesus Christ, King of Mercy, I trust in YOU
Thank you for sharing this with us!

God Bless you!!!

Hello everyone. Unfortunately I do not know a whole lot about the 3 days of darkness other than what my mother has been telling me. I just had my first child not even 4 months ago, so getting my spiritual life in order has been a top priority of mine. Now since she has informed me of the 3 days prophesy, it’s taken on even more importance to me.

That said however, I have mixed feeling on the subject and would like to share some thoughts I have formulated over the years. I have a friend who is an extremely well educated priest, and one the things he told me was that God is not illogical. God would not create something so heavy that He could not move it. He would not create something so small that He could not see it. I feel the same way about the stars and the planets and the universe around us. If God loves us so much, I find it hard to believe that He would create the universe and everything around us so that no man would ever see it. Why would He create and destroy the “world” when there is so much more of His creation to discover, learn about, and give Him praise for.

The other thing I think about frequently is the fact that there is still a lot of good and Christianity in the world. Especially in America. The major and local news outlets don’t inform you of it, but there are numerous good deeds being done on a daily basis all across the world, especially in America (even though I know at times it doesn’t seem like it). Yes we have abortion, but there are signs that the forces for life are gaining ground against the culture of death. Glenn Beck, the radio and television host has been talking recently about how we need to change the culture for the better in America (although it’s always been common sense to me). There are good deeds being done, and things are changing. I might be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that God would destroy those who we know and love, when (depending on where you look) there are signs of faith, hope, and love.
