three days of darkness?

I think what is important is to address the FEAR. Jesus did not give us a spirit of “fear.” Even if the three days of darkness takes place and He RENEWS the face of the earth, It will be a matter of rejoicing for the faithful. Everything that God does is for our good. “All things work out for good for those who love God.”

He is warning us on account of His great love and mercy for the faithful. He knows that He is all powerful and that in itself is terrifying. He protects us from the terror of His almighty power by hiding us and telling us to avert our eyes. He does not want to subject His little ones to seeing His wrath. Great faith and trust will be demanded during this time. It will all be a opportunity to know and experience the awesomeness of OUR FATHER, our guardian, our protector, our provider.

Fear belongs to those who are not God’s children. A child does not fear the one who is his/her protector rather rests in the security of His protection. Death and destruction are the result of our sins and their consequences. But do not fear! Jesus has conquered death and the evil one.

I myself look forward to the illumination of souls. I may see my unconfessed sins but I rejoice in the opportunity to beg for mercy and be healed. Then I can truly be secure. I have confidence that I will experience God’s great love for me which will strengthen me for whatever will lie ahead. Peace to the children of God.
There is nothing wrong a healthy fear. If fear is what gets a person to repent rather than be damned, then that’s a good thing. The best motive for repentance is the Love of God. But unfortunately, many people have not experienced loving parents and hence cannot relate to a loving God. Fear is a great motivator for many people. Jesus spoke about hell quite a bit (more than heaven), as did many saints.

As st Paul put it ’ work out your salvation in fear and trembling’.

As for rejoicing, I will not be rejoicing if I see 1/3 of mankind destroyed before my eyes. i dont think you will either. This will not be a happy day.

Pray, I urge you, for those who will otherwise be damned.

Has anyone here heard about the three days of darkness prophesy? I read that several people received this prophesy and they are Blesseds and Saints… what it says is that there will be a chastisement for the world if we don’t all turn to God, and that is three days & nights of complete darkness and during that time the people who haven’t turned to God would die except a few that would be converted later on. Some believers will die too but they will be innocent and will be martyrs. During that time we must stay in the house and shut all the doors and windows and not look outside, not even look outside the window… and if anyone does look, they will die instantly because God’s justice is holy and He doesn’t want us to see it. There will be a lot of demons everywhere too, hurricanes of fire, earthquakes and other frightening things, and apparently, some poisonous gas that will spread everywhere so the windows should be shut and sealed in properly. We must stay at home and pray and ask for forgiveness, seek Mary’s protection, and repent of sin… it’s important to be in a state of grace… then we won’t be as frightened. Also, only a blessed candle would give light, nothing else. Apparently this is a chastisement worse than the Flood, except it’s by fire, not by water, as there would never be another great flood. After the three days and nights, the stars will come out and then the sun, and it will be springtime and a time of peace for the world. Apparently after this peace, evil will gain hand once more and then the antichrist will come, and then the end of the world. But some have said that the Second Coming will be during or after those 3 days.

Will it happen? who knows, it might…

when? I have no idea…

however when I think of it, I feel really afraid. 😦 what do you all think? how should we react to this prophesy?? i’ve been wondering sometimes… the reason I took it more seriously is because apparently the prophesy was also given to St Padre Pio, but does anyone know if this letter is accurate and actually from him… divinemercyinc.com/St%20Padre%20Pio%20Prophecies.htm I tend to believe the things St Padre Pio says because he was really close to God and could discern things.

Should we prepare for this just in case it happens??

thanks
I know exactly what you are talking about… my mom read me this stuff when I was a kid and it terrified the @#*! out of me as a child.

What I have learned is that things that TRULY are from God do NOT terrify you. The devil seeks to destroy your inner peace. If this is agitating and disturbing you, then it is NOT from God.

Remember, God is mercy itself and God does not give you anything, that with Him, you cannot handle. There are terrifying things in this world that have happened all throughout history. God is with us at all times. He never abandons us.

God has given us everything we need through the Church. What I mean by that is, yes, while there are true mystics and prophesies, they are all meant to bring us back to Christ and the sacraments. If we loose our focus on Christ, we drown. We become St. Peter who became afraid of the storm and sea because he lost his focus on Christ.

If the saints martyrs were shown what sort of sufferings they were to endure at the beginning of their young lives, I wonder if many of them would have been scared to death. God does not reveal anything to you that will harm you. If we are called to live through a great trial, we need to keep our focus on Christ. If we become agitated, frightened, terrified, etc. we need to beg God the grace for peace in our souls.

Lastly, I have no idea if this whole prophesy thing is a hoax or not. But, I went to the website you provided. Anyone can put anyone’s name on anything. There is so much misinformation on the internet, it’s ridiculous.
Nada te turbe;
nada te espante;
todo se pasa;
Dios no se muda,
la pacïencia
todo lo alcanza.
Quien a Dios tiene,
nada le falta.
Solo Dios basta. - St. Terese of Avila

If you stop and meditate on hell, and get a true sense of the place, you will be terrified. Does this mean it is not from God? Hell is a terrifying place. I have a friend who is uncomfortable about the idea of hell’s existence, therefore he chooses not to believe in it. Thats the same logic you’re using. It’s like sticking you’re head in the sand.

If God is about to destroy 1 third of mankind, it stands to reason that he’d warn us.

Sr Faustina mentions the 3 days of darkness in her book Divine Mercy In My Soul.John Paul 2 made the Sunday after Easter Divine Mercy Sunday as a result of the revelations in this book.JP 2 obviously thought Faustina was worth listening to.

Sr Akita of Japan, in an approved apparition of the Blessed Virgin also mentions a great chastisement that is imminent and will affect all of mankind. This apparition has church approval!!!

There is no hoax. Choosing to ignore the truth because it makes you uncomfortable is not wise.

I remember a guy named Jesus, who was so terrified at the thought of His own death on a cross that he sweated blood. Gods will doesn’t always make us comfortable.

The thing is, there are many good Catholics who have never heard of this. Three days hits, they step outside (or look out the window) and are fried. I just don’t believe that our Lord works that way.

Maybe you’ve forgotten about the deluge. 8 people survived, the rest of humanity was

destroyed.

How about Sodom and Gomorrah? You say God doesn’t operate this way, but the bible

opposes what you believe. Lots wife was turned to salt.

The ignorance of many "good " catholics is not good evidence. "my people suffer for a

lack of knowledge" (Hosea) I’ve met a lot of good catholics that refuse to believe in hell or

purgatory. This does not change the reality of their existence.

Which is why I said good Catholics. In all the examples you mention, the people who died were notorious sinners. The good survived. So my argument stands 🙂

Then they are not, by definition, good Catholics. Good people, possibly. Good Catholics, nope. We are held to a higher standard 😉

Most of the world are notorious sinners. 🙂

My points were that 1) Good Catholics can by ignorant of facts or theories.
2) God does fry people!!

Not spectacularly, though. He, because of our sinfulness, may withdraw His protection. The 3 days may well occur. But an innocent 5 year old looks out the window and is fried.
It just does not sound like Him. He who sent out his disciples to all the world, so that everyone may be saved. He who died, so that we could be saved.

And, at the end, he keeps it a secret to most of his loyal followers (sinners all, obviously)? It just doesn’t wash.

It would make more sense that no one in His Church would know, than only a select few, TBH.

I’m not discounting it or saying that no such destruction is possible. You misunderstand me. There’s one sort of anxiety that IS unhealthy. There are many people, particularly in the last century, who were completely terrified at projected “ends of the world.” They built shelters and spent every last penny they had saving up rations. When they found out that those “deadlines” were a hoax, many killed themselves… This even happened as recently as last summer. When the date was drawing nearer, there were signs everywhere, even on the subway, and many people were getting scared. A religious sister’s response to it all really struck me. When someone asked her what she thought of it all, her response was, “the world can end at any moment, and if it’s the end of the world, that means Jesus is coming, so I am happy.”

. . . Sr Akita of Japan, in an approved apparition of the Blessed Virgin also mentions a great chastisement that is imminent and will affect all of mankind. This apparition has church approval!!!
To help provide a little more accuracy on this one, the location of the apparitions is Akita, Japan and the visionary I believe you mean to refer to is Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa.

I have an account of the happenings of Akita in a book written by Janice Connell, Meetings With Mary, Ballantine Books New York, 1995 ; Akita Japan 1973-1984 [pgs 129-146].

To say that a chastisement is imminent (according to those messages) also would be somewhat lacking in accuracy. Imminent means we can’t avoid it . But the warning of a chastisement given at Akita is congruent with other warnings our Blessed Mother has given in past apparitions in that it is conditional ; specifically as to whether or not we change our ways.

Our Lady’s words in that message concerning a chastisement were (highlights mine) [pg 139]:
" Listen carefully to what I say to you and inform your superior. If humanity does not repent and improve, the Eternal Father will allow . . . "
So we can’t really look at it as a totally foregone conclusion because each of us can still make a difference . How . . .? Well, in an earlier message our Blessed Mother said [pg 138]
“Prayer, penance, courageous sacrifice mitigate the consequences of evil behaviour. I ask your community to live in strict poverty so that the ingratitude and outrages of many may be touched by your spirit of reparation.”
In that first message about the chastisement , Our Lady says the Rosary will be one of the few remaining “weapons”. (- :hmmm: . . . St. Padre Pio had also referred to his Rosary as a “weapon” ).

There are a lot of other amazing things recorded in the occurrences in the convent at Yuzawadai on the outskirts of Akita : Sister Agnes’ multiple physical healings, her "huge "guardian Angel conversing with her and praying with her on several occasions . . . stories to feed our faith.

👍

I don’t remember where exactly I read it from but I read a prophesy that during these three days of darkness, a cross will be visible in the sky with holes where the nails in Jesus’ hands and feet were and light will pour forth from these holes. Does anyone know anything about this?

Blessed Anna Taigi? There is so much misinformation out there associated with this that one must use sound discernment in researching. I’m still kind of holding on to the theory that this is something every christian will have happen to them before death…not always a one time event, but perhaps many times in ones life, even during a regular examination of self. Samson

I’ve often thought this too. A spiritual 3 days of darkness but there can be more than one meaning I suppose.

Dwelling on apparitions and private revelations to the point that it scares you and takes over your life and inner peace is not of God. Keeping a mindful awareness on what’s going on around you and how it might fit into what apparitions and private revelations have mentioned and making sure you are living as Christ commanded and the Church teaches is far better than allowing them to rob you of the joy that being Catholic should bring you.

I so agree. In the words of St. Padre Pio, “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.”

Sr Faustina mentions the 3 days of darkness in her book Divine Mercy In My Soul.
This is a private revelation and does not require the assent of the faithful.

What page or pages is this on in her diary?
John Paul 2 made the Sunday after Easter Divine Mercy Sunday as a result of the revelations in this book.JP 2 obviously thought Faustina was worth listening to.
This act in no way makes anything St Faustina said dogma. We can totally disbelieve in any private revelation.

All JPII did was add the title of Divine Mercy Sunday to the First Sunday of Easter, nothing else was changed or added.
Sr Akita of Japan, in an approved apparition of the Blessed Virgin also mentions a great chastisement that is imminent and will affect all of mankind. This apparition has church approval!!!

Again, no private revelation is a part of the deposit of faith. We as Catholics may chose to not believe in any private revelation.
