I used to be obsessed with this prophecy called the 3 days of darkness. If anyone believes it, drop it, it’s utter rubbish. Even if all the saints said that it’s going to happen, I wouldn’t accept it and would fight against it with all my might because thats not how the Blessed Virgin rolls. She is there to convert people, not sit back and watch them get punished. No matter how beat down her followers are or how infested with sin everyone is, she does not, read never back down. So either you’re going to believe in some superstitious blessed candles to save you from demons or you’re going to pick up your sword (i.e. The Rosary and Mary Herself), your apologetics book and fight against all this pervasive evil in the world. Don’t be pathetic sitting ducks, fight and stay alive and live life for life itself not because you need to survive.

thanks for the reply… well I don’t really feel a disquiet in my soul over this, but a more natural fear like fear of dying or judgement or other similar things. I have no idea honestly. If it’s false, then the letter is most likely fake. If the letter is real, I’d say it’s probably true, even if it would happen in a thousand years. I guess there’s no way to tell.

We can’t ever know the day or the hour… that is true… but there’s no date set for this either 🙂 so I guess we’ll live and see 🤷
Pray for a happy death. How great would it be to be healthy your whole life and one night just effortlessly pass over into Heaven while sleeping.

OK I did not read every page.

I see a lot of people talking about the end times possibly being near. While it is impossible to know the time we do know this much -

Satan will be chained up for 2,000 years first and there will be an age of peace. Has that happened yet?

I would definitely not worry about it being the end of the world. Other than that - there is much evidence of a Great Chastisement coming but as others have stated private revelation - even those fully approved by the Church - are not points of faith.

“without law there can be no transgression”. There is no Law that we must believe any private revelation. However I strongly believe we should not disregard them either. IMHO we should definitely listen and try to discern. Many of the things we were warned about came to pass.

It is possible that someone has been told “it is near”. Our Lord and the Father are timeless. “near”, as we can see, is not something we can competently measure. The Gospel would support this statement. 2,000 years is not a long time.

I am wondering where you get this

Sorry everyone. I looked at the Church’s teaching on this. It is a hyperbole apparently… We are in that period right now. It began when Christ was resurrected and ends when Satan is let free to roam again. the term “1,000” of anything means a lot - but not necessarily exactly 1,000.

I just realized something.

Could you say that Saul experienced a Dark Night for three days, before he became Paul?

[BIBLEDRB]acts 9:3-16[/BIBLEDRB]

OK sorry I have to correct this again!

Satan is still roaming in the Biblical sense of the word roaming. He is tied up by Christ right now though. In the end times he will be given more power.

That is the problem with words sometimes. We must remember to look at the Church’s teaching.

funnily enough, the homily in this weeks mass was about this in places.

the priest said that all through life yours, mine and from the beginning there has been that element there.people saying the end is nigh.

do you think that the people living in the first and second world war thought this?im sure they did,and so did every one else who lived in times of such tyranny.

only God knows, nobody else. neither the son or the holy spirit.when the time will come for it to end…

he mentioned about when at a funeral, how people say that the deceased had lived their life to the full, but how he pointed out that living their life to the full was to live it for Christ, not going on binges of drink/holidays/ect…

the only days of darkness i can see are the black clouds that wont stop raining here where i live and its been longer than three days let me tell you.lolololol…

The three days of darkness and all that is supposed to happen during and after it, can possibly happen, but it will happen only if God the Father wants it to happen that way and it will happen at a time when He wants it to happen.

We don’t have to believe in visionaries or seers who have not been authenticated by the Holy See as a matter of faith. But it does not mean that we totally reject what they say because it does not fit into our logic. And for those who give dates and times we must definitely be vary of. Of course if any vision/prophecy is approved by the Holy See, then we can be sure that it will happen since Jesus himself gave Peter the gift of infallibility.

But such visions or prophesies if they bring one to repentance and into a right relationship with God and neighbour then they fulfill what Jesus started his Galilean Ministry with, “Repent and believe in the good news for the Kingdom of God is at hand”.

So the right approach to such prophesies is believe in the worst and hope for the best since that way it does not hurt, whether it happens or not. If one does not believe and it comes true then it will catch you unawares and it will hurt badly. But if one believes and it does not happen, one can simply forget it for the time-being and in the meanwhile keep oneself right with God and neighbour, actively partake of the Church’s sacramental life and remain alert in prayer always eagerly awaiting the blessed hope of the second coming of Jesus. His second coming is the only thing that is sure to happen since we pray about it in the Mass daily. Every other sign which will happen just before, during and after the second coming of Jesus, has to be accepted as and when it occurs instead of looking forward anxiously for the happening of the signs.

For Catholics the more important thing to look forward to is our own physical death. At that time we are judged in the particular judgment whether we are worthy of heaven or hell.

Moreover if the three days of darkness happens the way it is said will happen, then let it happen. If we are in right relationship with God and neighbour then nothing can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus, so why be afraid and dismayed?

I for one believe it!!! 😃 Padre Pio even received these messages.

But I’m not going to stop living the life my Lord willed me to have here on earth. I will continue to follow his commandments to the best of my ability as well as praying the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet and praying for others. 😉 When that day comes, I will be the happiest camper on the face of the planet(Of course this is a matter of opinion:p)

In the mean time, I will celebrate the coming of our Savior this Christmas season. After all he is the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year you guys!!! 👍

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all on Catholic.com. May we all encounter the Lord in a special way at this Christmas and continue encountering him daily.

The time of the end will come when God sees that the Church is worthy enough to be wedded to his Son. When he decides that then he will tell Jesus to go the second time to the earth to collect his bride. And just as every normal bridegroom tells his bride in advance that he is coming to take her, so also will Jesus. I believe that when Jesus comes to know from his Father that his bride is ready, Jesus will happily pass the message to his bride, the Church. How he will do it is not revealed yet but just as in the past, God always revealed everything he would do for humankind through his prophets, he will use some Catholics as prophets to tell us of his coming. When Jesus said in the Bible that the time of his coming is not known either to him or to his angels, he meant at that particular time. It does not mean that at some time in future it will not be known. But Yes it will be known only after his Father tells him. After all in Jewish setting there were not love marriages. The Father of the bridegroom would decide that it is time to marry and he would select the bride for his son. The Father has already selected the bride for his Son but as yet the bride(the Church) may not be fully ready for the marriage with Jesus. When she is ready it will be judged only by the Father. So if we want to hasten Christ’s second coming we must be the bride that God the Father wants us to be: fully living according to Gospel values and fully in love with God and with neighbour. Probably that has not happened fully yet, hence Christ’s coming is delayed.

Moreover with so many Christians away from the Catholic Church, which is the only Church Christ himself built on Peter, the Rock, I personally don’t think the time of his coming is very near. If we want to hasten the second coming of Christ, then every Catholic must proclaim the true faith to the Non-Catholic Christians first and then to people of other faiths. When the no. of gentiles added to the Church is fully reached as per God’s plan, then God will turn his attention back to the Jews and when the no. of Jews ordained to be saved is completed, that will be the time of Christ’s second coming. Since this decision as to when that no. will be considered complete is only with God and to reach that no. the free will of the people is involved, God will have to wait patiently for giving his OK to Jesus to come back to earth the second time.

Concerning the 3 days of darkness I contacted the National Padre Pio Center.

While I have read otherwise but according to this group St. Pio never made such a prophecy concerning the Three Days of Darkness. However this appears to be an authorative source.

I recieved this email from The Padre Pio Center for North America:
"Dear “Doubting” Thomas :-),

I applaud your diligence in seeking truth. The prophecy of the “Three Days of Darkness” is correctly attributed to the late mystic, Blessed Anna Maria Taigi.

Back in 1960, was the first time that this rumor, associating the prophecy with Padre Pio began in which it was brought to the attention of Church authorities who turned it over to the Capuchin Order for reply.

Father Clement Neubauer O.F.M. Cap., Superior General of the Capuchin Order, speaking on behalf of the Order and specifically for Padre Pio labeled the prophecies attributed to padre Pio as forgeries.

Later in 1977, Volume XII, number 2 of the Voice of Padre Pio magazine, the official publication of the Cause for Postulazaione (Beatification and Canonization) of Padre Pio, clearly printed that on several occasions Padre Pio answered with a resounding “NO” to those who questioned him about whether he made the prophecy of the Three Days of Darkness. (Red Font for Emphasis mine)

Thank you for seeking the truth. Perhaps you may wish to learn more of the life of Blessed Anna Maria Taigi; very interesting life. Her incorrupt body is in the Church of San Crisogono in Trastevere Section of Rome, if ever you travel to Italy.

God bless you,"
End of Letter

Catechism of the Catholic Church #67: Throughout the ages, there have been so-called “private” revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ’s definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church.

Christian faith cannot accept “revelations” that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfilment, as is the case in certain nonChristian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such “revelations”.

Religious seers, even those recognized by the Church may have been recieved direct insight from the Holy Spirit but their attempts to communicate these private revelations may fail to express these revelations from God due to human error resulting from barriers such as those language and the written word. Whenever we express ourselves we do so imperfectly and the same is true when people read what we have said or written or even in art forms.
Code:
For example the images & concepts of Holy Angels & Demons. The mental impressions that give rise to images are not the same thing as these angelic spirits. They are elements of thoughts and feelings associated with contemplation. How can something that is spiritual be truly expressed or apprehended fully truthful when we all are subject to human error.

This is why we should follow the Church's guidelines concerning not just private revelations but all matters of faith especially moral guidelines. Christ founded and established His Church to be a Great Light that guides us to Heaven.

I believe that there will be a Chastisement, a Big Wakeup Call for all. The private revelations concerning the 3 days of darkness have Church approval. However people like to "add-on" and it is hard to find a good source.

I’m scared - I have anxiety attacks from it. I wake up nervous all day I have these horrible visions … Why the Vatican than say anything about why the church did not take the public voice? Who initiated this prediction? Once I read that Sister Lucia also had this vision but elsewhere it was something completely different … Does anyone hanging around? A more detailed description and course of World War 3 …
I’m slowly leaving the sense of fear (fear Is that good?

Dear lakaro,
You don’t have to be anxious about anything if it is God’s plan. Since any plan that is according to the will of God will only bring good for his people who trust in him totally.

All that you have to do is: Live according to the teaching of Scripture as interpreted by the Catholic Church, live according to the spiritual and moral teaching of the Catholic Church, attend and participate in the Holy Mass as frequently as possible (and receive communion too), Confess your sins to a priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly and love God and neighbour with your whole heart and you will always be prepared for every plan of God; does not matter when and how any event takes place.
